sdctlc 0 #1 July 31, 2007 OK, after traveling for work all last week, knowing my new Ghost was sitting at home waiting, I got back last night to finally get a chance to see the suit. Attached are the obligatory pics. I have a home office so I just went outside so sorry for the non in office shots Construction looks to be outstanding, as I would expect, from PF. The design of the inlets looks like it will just about do an instant inflate on exit. Shoulders seem similar to the existiong PF style but there are more leg inlets on the side of the body as well as the scoops on the leg wing front (black patches in the pic) The back inlets have a mesh covering and an airlock , pretty nifty design it looks to be, Couple of things I noted was no hip/waist snaps like on the Phantom for holding the booties up after opening. Curious why that is. Also there is no mesh inside the suit for the wings. What I mean is that looking inside the suit you see the ribs where as with my Phantom you have a mesh over the ribs in the crothc leg area and in the area under the arms but other then that, the suit looks awesome. I am hoping to sneak out to the DZ this afternoon for a few test jumps on it! I also took a few pic's of My phantom laid over the Ghost to see the wing size difference.. Anybody need an in great shape less then 1 year old Phantom?? it is in the classfieds. Scott C."He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
sdctlc 0 #2 August 1, 2007 Got 3 jumps in on the suit yesterday afternoon. First difference I noted from the Phantom is that the arm pressure is noticably higher. The 3 jumps were all from ~12K with openings at ~3K and the times were within 5 secs of each other at right around 140 seconds for all 3. Fall rate noted on the neptune at 51, 49 and 47. The trend I saw was better average times at the top but then I would get tired towards the bottom and it would go up. I found a comfy body position but then would loose it towards the bottom with some turns. Basically I found the Phantom flying style was not optimal for the Ghost, not "Plug and Play" as a fellow wingsuitter once told me about changing suits. Not have anybody to fly with on these jumps left me just guessing on the forward speed but I was covering more distance. That is based on what I had been doing on the phantom and ground referece points. I like the suit and though 3 jumps really does not give me the overall performance perspective I think it will be fun when flocking, hopefully this weekend. I see already some better performance characteristics then the phantom and if I can get the happy spot for longer dives, hopefully I wont tire so much. I was fighting the suit a bit but that got better with each jump, it just flys differently and it is a bit touchier then the phantom but not hard to fly. While flying, were you flying for time or distance? Kris.
VectorBoy 0 #7 August 4, 2007 Wow your Phantom is already up for sale, cheap. I bet it doesn't have fifty jumps on it yet. You must like your ghost well enough.
sdctlc 0 #8 August 4, 2007 I do like the Ghost and think it will be one great suit after I get some more jumps on it. The Phantom I estimated at 60 jumps but I am pretty conservative when i am selling someting. I am guessing that the stated 60 jump # I noted was on the high end for that suit. Great suit and all around design. Hopefully a good price offered! As to Kris, I was really going for max time on the solos. I was pleased about the distance I was getting as well so I noted it in the above post. The times could have been and I am guessing become longer, but I noted fatigue. If I can find the sweet spot I think I can easily add to the time and slower fall rate, it will just take a few jumps to dial it in. I am finding that when learning a new suit it is best for me, IMHO, to go for time. Adjustments for speed, distance and flocks comes better from the max time jumps I find after solo practice. If I had someone else to jump with I at the DZ closest to my house, I would but sometimes that is not possible in the NW as the # of birds is not huge. Though we try and get together, we dont always get 2 ways much less flocks most times. Given that, the solos working on max time is just what I have done and it seems to work. Others might go about it differently . Anyway, back to Glen, my Phantom is up for sale. I REALLY LIKE IT BUT>>>> the GHOST is calling me to fly it. I should be pretty dialed in on it in Oregon in 3 weeks. Just need to get some more flights and maybe a small flock or. Any NW jumpers want to flock next weekend! I will be at Blue Skies tomorrow as well! Scott"He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

monkycndo 0 #11 August 6, 2007 Scott, I have only made a few solo jumps to try out the upper range of the suit. I have about the same numbers as you, upper 40s to low 50s. It does fly quite different to the Phantom. Having to adjust my flying. But the range in the suit is fantastic. Floaty and slow or kicking it into high gear. When you hit the sweetspot, the glide is awesome. Looking forward to lots more jumps to start to dial it in. Had a blast this weekend flying with some brand new baby birds. Ask Dave C and Kev about their flights. Be careful flocking with Kev, he likes to go sightseeing. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. sdctlc 0 #13 August 6, 2007 Cool, Sounds like your getting some more in on the suit. I did 4 more Ghost jumps yesterday. A couple were solos and was getting some very good times and speeds. Better then before, one was 156 seconds, with less fatigue. Rolled the elbows more forward on Ed's suggestion and it seemed to work well, thanks Ed.... Also went with a a couple guys on 2 ways. Really I was just following them as it was VERY early in their bird experience and I went along to watch them. The suit had plenty of range for the slower forward speed and faster rate. Also you could really feel it at the bottom when kicking it into high gear. I was getting a number of low 40's on the neptune for the segment averages. Even had a 40mph average on one of the segments it showed, DMANIT, wy not just give me the 39!!! Oh well, always another day. I am feeling much better on the Ghost in terms of flight fatgue. A few tweaks, like with the elbows made a huge difference. I still was feeling a little drop in performance at the bottom after 2+ minutes of more of less maxed flying but not as bad as the first few jumps on the suit so that is improvement. Looking forward to Molalla in a couple of weeks and getting some awesome flocks! Scott"He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

BobFolline 0 #16 August 8, 2007 Yea no warning on my part anyway. You would think I could at least fly well enough that some Monkey flipping my wing would not cause a roll. But you know us beginners. And thank you for getting me over the fear of rolling the S-6. Did you do rolls in your Ghost yet or do you need some help? Are you coming up to Oregon to help keep Scott flying straight and stable? monkycndo 0 #18 August 8, 2007 Yes, I rolled my Phantom. Not very well, and not often, but I did. I'll backfly the Ghost after I get a little better w/o the suit. I like to see where I'm going. Maybe you can give me some lessons. Oh, that's right. What do you know? You aren't an instructor.*puts pointy stick back in its scabbard and waits for the fireworks to begin* 50 donations so far.
