Jib 0 #2 October 29, 2003 The laterals (the part of the harness that goes from the bottom of the container to your hips and connects to the shoulder straps) does not go all the way to the side of the container, but stops an inch or so before the edge. It is supposed to provide a better fit. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. mouth 0 #3 October 30, 2003 My Odyssey has them and I love the fit I get from them. They also seem to keep the rig higher up off my hip bones which I hate. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
sdctlc 0 #5 October 30, 2003 here is some info stolen from the web.... a "cut-in backpad", which has the lateral webbing exiting the backpad closer to the center of the rig, and wrapping around the jumper's waist. This allows for extra comfort, a snug fit and no movement of the rig during high speed maneuvers. Pics might be small but hope they give a good idea of what they are.... SkymonkeyONE 4 #7 October 30, 2003 When I got my first Odyssey it felt kind of funky under canopy, but I learned to ignore that part. My new Wings EXT also has it and fits great as well.
deaffreeflyer 0 #8 October 31, 2003 Can you send a picture of your Wings EXT's cut-in laterals please? I wonder if it looks the same as Odyssey?
AndyMan 7 #9 October 31, 2003 QuoteIt is supposed to provide a better fit. It does, but only for smaller people. Bigger guys and girls, it really doesn't make any difference whatsoever. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
Remster 30 #10 October 31, 2003 Quoteit really doesn't make any difference whatsoever I tried a friend's rig with some (on the ground only), and actually, I found that they felt like they were cutting in my ample sides.... rigging65 0 #11 October 31, 2003 Yeah, I wasn't too happy with the "naked" cut-in laterals when I tried them on when they first came out. I also had a friend (skinny guy) who actually cracked a rib because of them. There are some other designs that work better than the "naked" style, but for most people, IMO, the cut-ins don't do too much. Some people swear by them, so if they work for you, great! SkymonkeyONE 4 #12 November 2, 2003 QuoteCan you send a picture of your Wings EXT's cut-in laterals please? I wonder if it looks the same as Odyssey? It looks just like an Odyssey, except that it has a comfort pad over the webbing. It's very nice.
mouth 0 #13 November 4, 2003 My Odyssey has what they call Spacer Foam over the cut in which makes it extremely comfortable. I am small though........ -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
gpm5040 0 #14 November 6, 2003 The cut-ins on the Mirage G4 are awesome - super stable and comfortable for my size. 5'10" 150lbs
dgskydive 0 #15 November 7, 2003 I agree with Andyman. For bigger folks it really doesn't make a differnce. At over 6ft 1in and 220 lbs. My Infinity fits just as snug in the waist as any Odyssey I have ever tried on. Little folks like them because the rig usually goes out past there waist and the cut ins make them feel more connected to the container.Dom
bkdice 0 #16 November 7, 2003 I LOVE my cut in laterals on my new wings. It makes me feel like my rig is constantly 'hugging' me. I am 5'4", petite, and I freefly. Going from a rig that used to move all over the place to this has made flying a lot more enjoyable and a bit less challenging at times.
