Legality of Jumping a Balloon

Recommended Posts

Can it be considered a demo jump? If so, it should be handled accordiningly with the proper paperwork being filled out, with the jumper holding a PRO rating and the balloon pilot would have to have a Balloon piloting license through the FAA. The USPA would be another place to check with prior to doing this as they can provide you with more detailed information.

So, I may have an opportunity to jump a balloon which might be televised.. so, what do I need to know about the legality of doing such a feat?

(Besides filing notams)

If it's a skydiving rig and you have a D license, I'm pretty sure you can just do it without violating any laws or USPA recommendations. Make sure you aren't trespassing when you land.
