skybytch 273 #2 October 30, 2003 Spend some time - okay, a lot of time - reading these forums. Your questions have been answered here repeatedly. Also check this out. Get your skydiving A license (or at least be close to it) before buying a rig. Get at least a couple hundred skydives in before getting into BASE. indyz 1 #3 October 30, 2003 Hey Tony, There is a dropzone about 45 minutes from your town in East Troy (more info). Stop by and check it out before you spend any money. You will need to rent gear while you are taking lessons anyway.
josebaumanndez 0 #4 October 31, 2003 Skyman, I recently purchased my first rig, but before I actually paid for it, I had my rigger give it the once over. He approved it, so I bought it. It cost me around $300 to update the the cypress, and have the reserve repacked, a must! I'm happy with it. Remember to ask questions, the folks at the DZ should be more than happy to answer them.--------------------------------------------------------- Everyday's a holiday, every meal's a banquet! bch7773 0 #5 October 31, 2003 do we really need two nearly identical posts in the gear forum by the same guy? that being said, skydiving is something you have to learn. You can't just buy a rig and go jump it. Start an AFF or static line course, and you'll learn the basics before you even worry about buying a rig. TomAiello 26 #7 October 31, 2003 Quote...i would need for a AFF and BASE jumping cause i want to do both... AFF and BASE are at two widely divergent parts of the learning curve. Fortunately for you, you could buy a big 7 cell F111 canopy straight away. That would make a good beginner skydiving canopy, as well as a good canopy for practicing BASE skills. Rather than write a bunch here, I am going to assume that you've wandered over to the BASE forum, and read the links in the upper right corner, which have both my advice on how to fill all that time between AFF and BASE, and my advice on what would be a good choice for BASE gear.
