Strong Z-PO 190 Canopy

Recommended Posts

I'm lookiing to buy my first rig and came across a Strong Z-PO 190 canopy. Couldnt find to much info on it. What experiance do people have with it? The one I'm looking at has appx 300 jumps. The seller is asking $500. Is that a fair price (canopy alone). Im guessing its a zero porosity canopy based on its name.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, Strong's ZP series are made of zero porosity fabric. They are rectangular 9-cells designed to compete with the Sabre Mark 1. I have not jumped a ZP, but people who did told me that it had a shorted recovery arc than a Sabre, which means that you have to be far deeper in the "corner" before you can kill yourself. The flip side of that characteristic is that it will not surf as far.
The ZP series is a good canopy, but not a great canopy. At 300 jumps, I would seriously consider re-lining it. The simplest way to determine if it is due for re-line is to measure the difference across the "A" lines. When that difference approaches 3 inches, order a line kit from Strong Enterprises.
