Small packing chute(s) for WS?

Recommended Posts

Hi,
I would like to reduce the amount of gear I have (it is way too much!).
One of my containers has a Springo 140 as main and is just for WS and demos, I use it only once in a while.
If I would have a smaller packing main that fits into containers that usually hold nothing bigger than a Velocity 96 I would not need the whole system anymore.
Does anyone know the packing volume of a Spectre 120?
Would it fit?
What would you recommend?
Any thought welcome!
Thanks,
Morris

I pack a pilot 132 and VMAX 99 (Crossbraced 9 cell) into a Vortex II 135 EVS system.

Both fit tight.

So your Spectre 120 should fit into the same container as your velo 96.

I would get the dynamic corners mod though. Im a believer in that since my chop with a small tight packjob and a big fast wingsuit.
The extraction becomes too horizontal. Or you can just slow down before you pitch but that’s not as much fun.

I have no idea what pack volume a Velo 96 has, or a Spectre or Triathlon 120 for that matter. I don't know your exit weight, but if the above poster says you can fit a 120 7-cell into your container, get one asap. Both the Spectre and the Tri are great canopies even at a 1.8 loading (which I suspect you'll be at or under).

You might even get a Lightning like one crazy Belgian I know, but I'd advise against freepacking it (he does).

Then again, I know people that like to jump XF2 99's for wingsuit, some nondescript Monkey jumps a Sabre2 97 I believe, I know one Swedish guy with a Sabre 97 (if you can find one, the price will be very right, very probably). A lot of it is where you're coming from. People jump (smallish) Katanas and even Veloes. Well, that's how many chops you'll live with IMO. Maybe even get one of the new PD reserves as a main?
Johan.
I am. I think.

We have tested the Optimum reserve as a main and really like it.

300 ft, on heading, butter soft openings.

Canopy does sink a little more than say a Sabre 2, but still has good flare.

Jury is out on life of the canopy and line set when used as a main.

yes..i have always like the idea for using reserves as a main, for wingsuit flying) they always have great heading performance, but they are quite short lived...i guess the optimum is no exception

I borrowed a old PD126 for a couple of jumps, and it opened fast but heading, this one had maybe more than 300 jumps but there was still some flare left in it:ph34r:
