mccordia 74 #4 September 26, 2008 And he jumped from a plane at 12.000 ft, and made it across without effort (or loss of altitude, and exiting OVER land still)... Freakin sweet! Wonder when he'll take off with his wing! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

keithbar 1 #8 September 27, 2008 so what altitude would a good w/s pilot have to exit from to do it with a reg w/s if there is such a thing. bailout bottle I would think if you got out at like 30 40 grand. you guys that know what you are doing could cross it it's what? like 20 miles? but then what the hell do I knowi have on occasion been accused of pulling low . My response. Naw I wasn't low I'm just such a big guy I look closer than I really am .
dzjnky 0 #9 September 27, 2008 Hey, they have a 1 hour show on National Geographic channel about Yves's triumph today. I just missed it, but they are playing it again at 11 PM EST, at least here in New Hampshire. The show is called "Flight of the jetman". I am sure they will repeat it, but I am going to get my DVR set up anyhow....

The distance is 25 km. This would mean getting out at 12 km altitude. Jet liners fly at 10km altitude (30,000ft). Soo... yeah you'd need between 30 and 40 000 ft exit altitude to do this. Probably more challenging than Yves' flight considering the -40 cold and the rarified air. keithbar 1 #11 September 29, 2008 thanks for the reply. that;s what i was think you wouldn't need like a true spacesuit to do it. just a bailout bottle and some good longjohns. but i guess fatigue would be the limiting factor.i have on occasion been accused of pulling low . My response. Naw I wasn't low I'm just such a big guy I look closer than I really am .

brokky 4 #13 October 9, 2008 I was lucky to be (a very small) part of this amazing project. You can find some pictures and information about Yves´flight on the website below (new stuff). It was just mad, the Porter was really struggling to keep up, and the chopper with the wescam had no chance to get close...wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
