DSE 5 #1 November 4, 2008 Wingsuitworld.com is a very cool website, looks like it's using Joomla as the back end so it's very sweet, lightweight. But...in perusing the site, I see a lot of content taken from other sites, including my writings for Flock University and Jarno Cordia's writings for FlyLikeBrick.com Anyone know anything about it? Cool site, nice layout, but using copywritten material without permission....not so cool or nice. both Jarno and myself have asked via email to have content removed, and to their credit, it has been removed in the past hour or so. skyjumpsteve 0 #2 November 4, 2008 Yeah man....very cool looking site. I love the pics from the "Base race". WHOIS says the site was created 09/16/08.....don't know anything about who is running the site though.

mccordia 74 #8 November 4, 2008 They are just eager (new) wingsuit flyers, who tried to make a website where they gather all wingsuit news and info. They just did it wrongly, by copying all content they could find onto their own site. I got pointed to their website by a friend, and discovered most of our stuff on there (FAQ, info, flight manual videos etc). Every single thing named the source, but still..its not fair play to just host/offer mirrored content. The responded to my email (asking them to make it a real blog, and not a full copy of our and other peoples websites) with appologies, and after more people found out and complained, they took down the website. Albeit maybe a bit naive...they are good guys, and responded correctly when people complained. Worst case scenario..they now owe a few people some beers and they learnt something about copyright/ownership of written materials/images. Move along people...nothing to see here...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

To clarify...Flock University hired a guy to build a website, and he copy/pasted from one page on your website. The moment Flock U was informed the content was there, it was immediately removed, apologies made, and the web person flogged to within an inch of their life (not a skydiver, so legs were broken and fingers maimed) He is also no longer building pages for Flock U. Not aimed at anyone in particular, just the general skydive mentality... A comical aspect of this is that some of the people that get their shorts in a knot over illegal use of their content on a website are the same guys that won't bat an eyelash at using copyrighted music in their YouTube vids or their wingsuit DVDs.Does this fit? marquiniosmdq 0 #11 November 4, 2008 All the material has been removed, and the page is down. I apologize about all the problems it could give you and the time of the people damaged. I am enthusiastic new wingsuit flier and the idea of the web page was only to try to put in one place most of the material that is on the web, but not stole it, again sorry. We were asking for permition to the owners of all the material at the moment of these post (too late, of course). Marcos
mccordia 74 #12 November 4, 2008 Hi Marcos, The idea behind your website (a blog where you collect links, post news and gather information) is definitely a good one. Just making it into a more conventional blog/news site, where you write some accompanying articles or little bits of info/text and link to all the different websites with wingsuit information, is probably appreciated more by the other people and their resp. websites. Creating a bit of a wingsuit specific news/google.com I hope this mass attack by people who found some of their stuff on your site didnt discourage you from continuing with your website, as the idea behind it is definately a good one. And it would be a website Id visit daily if you managed to make it the center hub for news from all manufacturers, media, youtube/skydivingmovies videos etc. just maintain some creative writing input, and make all the news your own, by adding a bit of style to it with your own writing and linking to the org. sources.JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
