Phillbo 11 #1 November 17, 2003 How much leeway is there for putting a bigger main in a container than what the mfg recommends. I am looking at a used Vector 3 Micron size V352M and am wanting to insure I will be able to fit a Silhouette 210 in the container. The sizing chart gives the following mains as recommended : Falcon 215, Monarch 195, PD 210, Sabre 190, Silhouette 190, Spectre 190. I assume you can go one size smaller than listed but will a larger size cause problems other than a few more cuss words while packing it ?? Any help would be appreciated. AggieDave 6 #2 November 17, 2003 You really should e-mail the folks at RWS to ask this, they'd definately have the 100% correct answer for you since they made the container.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Blahr 0 #3 November 17, 2003 Any reason you specifically want to get THAT container and put THAT main in it? If you havent spent the money yet, shop around for a while longer and try to find one that better suits your needs. I have a Vector 3 M V357 with a Sabre2 210 in it. Its a good fit. Why cram it in when you can just get the "right" size container? Judging from your profile

I can get it so cheap that it's worth investigating. thats all I am doing now since I have not made the purchase yet. David. I did send a note to RW. I'm just one of those guys that will ask a million people the same question to see what the average is I'll put RW's reply at the top of the list tho. PhreeZone 20 #7 November 17, 2003 >More work initially but hey you save money in the long run. Unless in your trying to stuff the canopy in you stress the seams and need to resew them. Its happened on a few Mirages and Javelins that I've seen. I also saw the same happen to a Vector tandem that was built for a 384 and was getting 425's shoved into it. Rebuilding the flaps and installing new flaps will cost you more then just getting the right sized rig to start with.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
councilman24 37 #8 November 17, 2003 Remember that any given canopy can differ in volume from another of that model by +/- 10%. That makes a 210 189 to 231. The recommend canopies will probably fit even with the variation. If you had a "small" 210 it might fit fine. If you had a large 210 you might not have a chance. If you want to consider this combination you should put them together and see. Each set of equipment is unique. Luckily there is enough middle range in volume that we don't get a lot of problems if you stay there. It's when you get the the extremes that "your experience may vary." I have to keep reminding rigging customers of these facts when they want to squeeze the largest reserve in the smallest container. Some that were supposed to fit, at the limit, simply did go.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
