mccordia 74 #1 December 15, 2009 Heyhey.. Normaly I only post al the stuff on wingsuitnews.com, but this one was just too damn cool not to post here. Steallth Fighter Jet Its Visa, who is now playing with new jet engines and the PF Stealth2. He is now not only getting level flight, but actually climbing. Check out the link above to see Visa chase an AN2, and fly relative to the airplane. Even slowly catching up.JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
mccordia 74 #2 December 15, 2009 Im receiving more footage/GPS data and additional info this coming week, and editing a video showing more of Visa's flights with the Jet Engines. So stay tuned for more... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The reason for more Balloons than airplanes is mostly related to engine start-up, and ease of exit (try to exit stable in a relative airstream, with a ton of thrust attached to your feet...easy to end up in a 200 mph dive...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? piisfish 140 #10 December 15, 2009 I'd love to have a "Jet Pilot Meeting" and have them guys discuss their technicalities together. mccordia 74 #12 December 15, 2009 Quote I'd love to have a "Jet Pilot Meeting" and have them guys discuss their technicalities together. All three are different idea's and concepts. Rigid wing, wingsuit, and Rocket engine (more aimed at high speed flying, akin to drag racing, than getting distance) Quote For the moment the simplest, and easiest to popularize IMHO is Visa's solution Cant wait for an 80 jump wonder to come up to me and try and convince me his skate-boarding experience is enought to warent jump 81 being a rocket-flight on wingsuitIm perfectly okay having these people not commercialize their ideas (and dont think any of them wants..or should). piisfish 140 #13 December 15, 2009 excellent, just saw the vid on my laptop. congrats to Visa and his crew. now a couple of questions. Why the Stealth ? is it a choice of bigger surface giving more climbing capabilities ? would a Vampire not give a better horizontal speed ? Which are the most important characteristics for Visa ? me likey.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
SuperGirl 0 #14 December 15, 2009 can I get one for xmas? I promise I've been really good this year on a more serious note, fuuuuck yeah! that's veeery cool stuff!!!! great to see the discipline constantly being pushed forward
mccordia 74 #15 December 15, 2009 In testing, that more slower fallrates (flatter angle of attack) of the Stealth2 seemed to better work with the engines. A suit like the V3 does better in terms of Glide, but glide-distance isnt the objective with the jet-boots. Its fallrate (getting a negative one). Ive gotten fallrates as low as 8 mph with the Stealth2 (flare). Adding thrust/power, a skilled flyer, a dose of technology and a good crew helping him out to those results, you get beautifull things.. Funny how this really is the first time ANYONE is climbing with a wingsuit. Yet Ive heard many people mention how they could climb after a bit of diving (though never proven). Yvess Rossy is climbing with his wing, but is in a whole other class compared to wingsuits.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

According to Yves, Visa is very correct. Lightweight needs less thrust. I'll send him the link to the video. He'll like it. Another question, how does Visa keep the turbines clean on landing ? (by standing the landings I guess )... the bottom of the turbines are a bit higher than the sole of the shoes ? Deniq 0 #20 December 15, 2009 QuoteSkyJester, Yvess and other weird (powered) flight experiments also get by with special permits (and the occasional shady jump). SkyJester, in comparison to Visa or Yves, don't use combustion engine for his flights! He use a nozzle operated with peroxide from high-pressure bottle. No problems with warm-up: just open the valve outside of aircraft and fly... No problems for landing: just remove the nozzle from legs area to belly at the flight under canopy. mccordia 74 #25 December 16, 2009 Quote Quote Funny how this really is the first time ANYONE is climbing with a wingsuit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Am-Z-Dyrtkk I know you can climb due to the speed/throw of the airplane...(the video you posted is mine). But gaining altitude due to airplane speed/power, is a different thing than climbing under your own power, as its often quoted. And Im stil not sure a wingsuit can build sufficient speed in a dive, to gain so much lift it results in a negative fallrate. +- 8 mph fallrate for 2 seconds is the closest Ive gotten. Engines are the way to goMuch cooler also (superhero vibe!)JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
