Neoslim22 0 #1 January 30, 2010 Just got a used firebird R and some of the ribs are bent, any way to make them flat again? they seem to be very brittle and I dont think it will take much to break them. The bends are not that major and I dont know how much it will affect the flight of the suit.
mccordia 74 #2 January 30, 2010 Shouldnt affect the flight. Though taking the ribs out, will make packing easier, and also prevent breaks/tears the ribs may cause. And also not noticably change the performance..JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
mnskydiver688 0 #3 January 30, 2010 They wont affect flight but they well inevitably break. I had an S6 with the same issue. I would suggest taking the ribs out of the arms which isn't too much of a process. The leg wing however may be a bit more involved.Sky Canyon Wingsuiters
Zeemax 0 #4 January 30, 2010 When packing the suit, try to lay it flat, layer the ribs on top of each other in the arms and legs (like an accordion) then roll the suit from the booties up. The mylar will last longer if it's rolled, then folded in on itself, as you spread the pressure out rather than concentrate it on one fold Phoenix Fly - High performance wingsuits for skydiving and BASE Performance Designs - Simply brilliant canopies
birdynamnam 28 #5 January 30, 2010 I had a S3S suit with the same type of fragile mylar ribs. I sent the suit to Birdman and got the new type ribs installed instead (those can be bent and don't break). Recommended.
