gus 1 #1 November 24, 2003 Is the Wings EXT the only container that will let you have mismatched main/reserve canopies, ie a Cobalt 65 and a PDR 281? (exagerated example) I found some old posts talking about mismatched canopies causing problems if you have 2 out, is that why more manufacturers aren't making it an option? gus 1 #3 November 24, 2003 Quotei believe mirage has a few sizes that have a large reserve and a small main. You're right, there's the M1Z (107 main/143 res) and the M3X (120 main/160 res). GusOutpatientsOnline.com
AndyMan 7 #4 November 24, 2003 Any container manufacturer will custom make a rig to virtually any combination of main and reserve sizing. _AM__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
NightJumper 0 #5 November 24, 2003 Jump Shack can make any combination you want. You can even get it narrow and thick or wide and thin depending on your application.
grasshopper 0 #6 November 25, 2003 QuoteAny container manufacturer will custom make a rig to virtually any combination of main and reserve sizing. not quite. I just e-mailed RWS about getting a vector3 with a larger reserve than main, and they won't. I believe you can't get a javelin or rigging innovations container with a size difference either, but you would need to check with them to be sure.________________________________________________________ Abbie drove me to Idaho and all I got was this lousy sigline

Is this the same RWS that built my Vector 3M 357 to fit a Samurai 170 with a PD218R? skymedic 0 #8 November 25, 2003 I have a wings built for a DashM 218 and a Xfire 2 149...that's a mismatched combo...but then again I dont jump a cypres so chance of two out goes down a bit with that...even though it is not impossible. gus 1 #9 November 25, 2003 Quotenot quite. I just e-mailed RWS about getting a vector3 with a larger reserve than main, and they won't. I basically got the same response. It's a shame becasue I quite fancy a 'hotter' main but the more I think about it the less I want to downsize my reserve and I really fancied a Vector3. skymedic 0 #10 November 25, 2003 When I told SunPath, RWS, and Mirage of my sizing plans...all of them said they wouldn't do it....Racer, Wings on the other hand had no problems... Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

riggerrob 643 #12 November 25, 2003 Also try asking the guys who build Infinity (Velocity in Kapowsin) or Sidewinder (Flying High in Alberta). The basic problem with mis-matched canopies is that you have to design a new rig, a process that can take anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. On really complex rigs - i.e. Micron - it takes several tries to make all the flaps fit together perfectly. All this design work requires time and money. It is hard to justify a week's work to draw a pattern that you will only ever build one of. I know because I used to test-pack all of Sandy Reid's prototypes at Rigging Innovations. Most of them were close, but still needed "a 1/2 inch here and shift this bartack a 1/4 left, etc.
NightJumper 0 #13 November 25, 2003 Since every rig we make is CAD based it only takes about 10 min. to punch out a set of pattern templates.
Aviatrr 0 #14 November 25, 2003 As already stated, Mirage does it to an extent...a couple sizes, anyways. I have an M3X with a PD160R and has had everything from a Spectre/Sabre2 150 to a VX79 in the main tray. Mike
