RTB 0 #1 November 24, 2003 How is it done when converting rigs to have a reserve side main deployment handle for AFF? Can you get a BOC with the reserve side activation as a modification that can be sown on to a rig with an ordinary BOC pocket. (Removing that first naturally) Has anyone done this switch? On which rigs? Any problems? We're discussing a change and any input from DZ's that have made this transition is welcome.
hookitt 1 #2 November 24, 2003 Hooknswoop capped on me for this reply, so I'll change it. Order the BOC kit and install it. It's a piece of cake.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
Hooknswoop 19 #3 November 24, 2003 You can order the new BOC w/ the reserve side main pull, then swap it out for the old BOC. Not really any harder than simply replacing the BOC. Derek
rigging65 0 #4 November 24, 2003 We designed (stole and modified) a reserve-side-accessible BOC system and installed it as an after-market part on all of our student rigs (Javs at one point, a few Telesis rigs, Vectors, and Reflex rigs). The design was so simple and nice that we ended up supplying some of the other local DZs with the kits for their rigs. They go on smooth as butter and are easy to get/build parts for if you loose a handle...and they work! (I speak from personal experience on this one...). Any competent rigger should have no problem installing one. "...and once you had tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward. riggerrob 643 #5 November 25, 2003 Just buy update kits from your harness manufacturer and ask your local Master Rigger to sew them on. That is what the Perris Valley Skydiving School did when they converted all their Telesis student rigs to BOC throwout, They bought a bunch of kits from Rigging Innovations and I sewed all 14 of them on over the course of five days.
