Great, see you there Jarno. not sure if I will actually enter the competition or not, but I'll be there to fly.

Not sure when I'll arrive, am at the USA Nationals in Eloy during the week, which is overlapping with this event.

Tom, Please get here early. I may have trouble keeping Jarno away from the Hideaway bar, and don't have a stable to keep him and his drunk-ass pony in check.

Ill behave...Ill be busy getting the hang of this new toy Ill be flying anyways...;)

The number of folks coming in is staggering; That this is the first wingsuit comp in the US is generating more interest than originally anticipated.
Flysight is providing their units for each competitor, Paralog for the competition judging, L&B/PF/Skydive Elsinore providing trophies, medals, and prizes.
Robi coaching, Jarno coaching, plus multiple aircraft, mountain runs in the sunset....really looking forward to meeting many new faces.
At least one (maybe two) new manufacturers have said they'll be there to compete with their new goods, there is rumor that some new PF wings will be there too.
If you're on the fence about coming out...ONT, LAX, LBA, PSP, SDA, and SNA are all close airports. The Casino has special rates for the event.

If you have not registered, I highly recommend you do so. Not only do you save 10.00, but it assures you'll get a Tshirt and other good stuff.
Call the Manifest ladies @ Skydive Elsinore, (951) 245 9939 and get registered.
Several registered so far, Tshirt order goes in Monday Morning.

Any Flyights that show up extra are appreciated, we only have 23 for the comp (Otter load) and we've got more competitors than that....

Also hoping to do a high-speed flock or two with the kind of talent coming to this event.

I signed up today. I have a flysight but I don't know if it needs anything for "competion" mode? If the firmware needs changing just let me know.

Glad you'll be bringing yours, but you likely won't be using it for the comp. units are scrubbed per jump so that there is no confusion, nor claims of tweaked software. Units are randomly assigned as well.
Any units "borrowed" from their respective owners, will be returned in identical condition, but scrubbed of any data.
Looking forward to seeing you here, Simon!

There are four of these, in addition to medals, plus the assortment of other winners earnings.
Open/Distance
Open/Speed
Intermediate/Distance
Intermediate/Speed

Elsinore Casino still has rooms in the lower building @skydiver rates. If you haven't called manifest to register, do so. Otherwise we can't guarantee Tshirts in your size.

i'm looking at the attendee list and think we really need a women's category ;)

j/k!

Well now that you mention it, there is a 'Prom queen' category :-)

BTW, we'll have more of the "Prom Dresses" shirts available at The Cup comp too.

Ah I see, makes sense, I won't be able to throw mine into the pot then as it is pretty much glued to my helmet!

No problem, we'll provide one for you. No competitor will be using their own flysight for this particular event. Smart people, custom programming, all that sort of thing...wanna be sure no one has any hidden advantage. Thank you for the offer tho!

I am a bit confused about a few things, remember I am new to competition.

On the Elsinore Website it says Time and Distance but here it says Speed and Distance. First I wonder why are all 3 not included.

I think I understand what Time and Distance is but for speed I am also confused. Is headdown the fastest way through the window or is there a distance element to it? If you can refer me to the rules that might help me out, I would like to come prepared with a clue.

Thanks. Simon

Thanks for the heads-up on that, Simon. The webmaster of the Elsinore page apparently copied that from early media. I don't have the ability to change it, but wasn't aware the Elsinore Event's page had it incorrect.

The Facebook page is accurate; there is no Time event.
Sure...go head-down through the window. :-) See where that gets you.
Time....is for skinny lil' guys in big suits; no talent required. They can be a leaf that goes nowhere.

The tasks may indeed be combined in future events. For this event, we didn't want to require large numbers of jumps for the tasks not only to make it more economically feasible, but to also provide a more broad competition experience for the first comp in the US. We intend to combine all three for an All-around award in the future.

Understood. How is speed measured then? Is it a value taken directly from the GPS or is it something like distance\time which I have heard thrown around? Just trying to visualize here...

Taken directly from the Flysight assigned to you, measured by Paralog competition software.

FWIW, *most* everyone is new to competition, AFAIK, Lurch is the only one that has flown in this kind of comp that is attending the US Cup.B|

Interesting you make this distinction as heavier pilots have an advantage in the speed round. But I see the sense in requiring less jump tickets to compete etc.

Have fun everyone, it looks like there will be a great turn out :)
