Hi, Jerry, If he weren't a strong contender for the office of POTUS, I would be laughing. Unfortunately, the situation doesn't make it funny right now. Maybe when he loses the election and continues to "lose it," we can laugh at him.

Negative. The R party is that stupid. Just look at their chosen leader.

A more direct racist smear. Jimmy Kimmel comented on it: I can buy Trump grabbing two pussies at once... I just can’t imagine him running.

The initial justification was a combination of things, presumed 8:11 jump time, radar at 8:11, recording of the sound of the pressure bump, comments of - lights of Portland on the horizon, last point of contact at 8:05, estimate of oscillations a few minutes after last contact, wind direction and speed, estimates of canopy drift within pull ranges. I think the search was based on sound judgment at the time. Part of this is also show: this event captivated an audience and the response is to signal an overwhelming effort to help reinforce a low perception of success and reinforce deterrence. Deterrence is the primary objective of law. Investigation is secondary - the reactive element of the law when deterrence has failed. Prosecution/sentencing are tertiary and used to restore deterrence by reinforcing consequences and signaling a low probability of success to would be criminals. The search whether sound or not was necessary.

Trump can't resist an attractive mark, or bait. If it looks easy he grabs it and Kamala had the whole bait shop.

I believe there is a D-license requirement for Gold Wings (and also for other 'accomplishment' awards) I'm not trying to debate if that is a good thing or not, just that it's part of the requirements. If Kim is doing these jumps as tandems because she doesn't feel safe at her age, yet still holds a D, I don't have an issue with it. I can see some folks 'splitting hairs' and saying that since she hasn't made a solo jump in a while, she doesn't have a current D, but I would argue that with her history and her place in the sport, she should get a pass on it.

Tough week. His books changed jumping for me. Amazing ability to take what he saw, thought, and felt and put it on paper for everyone to enjoy. Thank you. Please don't dent the planet. Destinations by Roxanne

Blue Skies to Pat. Not that it was easy understanding his unique style of writing, like some oracle, in recent years! But 8200 jumps and 55 years in the sport isn't bad.

I still have somewhere "The Art of VRW". I noticed Pat gave up a lot of wisdom onto DZ.com over the last month. Thanks again Pat ................... Life is short ... jump often.

Pat was the first skydiver I talked to. I lived in the same apartment complex in Illinois as he and Jan. He gave me the address of Hinkley and the rest is history. It won't be the same without him. Another great one has manifested on a bigger load. Red, White and Blue Skies, John T. Brasher D-5166

I remember having 2 or 3 jumps in 1992 and being totally hooked on skydiving and wanting as much information about the sport as I could get. I went to the local library and look up Skydiving in the card catalog (you younger folks, ask you parents) and the only book I found was the Art of Freefall Relative Work. I read it cover to cover many times and though I did not understand most of it at the time, it opened my eyes to what could be. Later I read United We Fall and I learned about skydancing. That book is still on my desk and I peruse it often. Blue Skies , Pat. Thanks for everything. John Arizona Hiking Trails

Just seen on FB. He was a mentor, or grand-mentor, to everyone who does or has done RW. Very different kind of legend, but man. He'll be missed. Wendy P. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
