Cell phones for skydive carrying
neflier replied to johnbamburg's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This may be OK with a wingsuit, but be careful with a regular jumpsuit. I used to keep my phone in my cargo shorts/sweats until one of my buddies had a tree landing and his phone was out of reach, in his pants pocket, under the jumpsuit, under the leg straps. My phone is now in the jumpsuit chest pocket. Life is too short to drink cheap beer. -
New Royal Caribbean Ships promise an onboard Windtunnel
neflier replied to Maxx's topic in Wind Tunnels
I was on the Anthem over New Years. There was no option to purchase additional time. They did not have the capacity to give everyone who wanted it their free 1 minute. After being unable to book online, I was one of the first to board the ship. The first thing I did was go the the area to sign up. They told me I was lucky as it had been sold out for a while, but a few additional sessions were just added. So book early and don't expect more than the 1 minute. It was kinda cool to be in a tunnel looking out over the stern of the ship. Life is too short to drink cheap beer. -
Why do you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?

Let's see, the broken airplanes will not get us to altitude. Life is too short to drink cheap beer. -
I'm doing the same thing. My wife and I will be at the first show of the tour. At least I will not feel guilty about spending the summer at the DZ. Life is too short to drink cheap beer.

I agree with the others about not messing with fuel tanks, but you are talking about putting $700 into a 98 Honda. What about proseal, an aviation fuel tank sealant? I've used this stuff for the construction of 8 fuel tanks. It works. Just ensure the area is cleaned and scuffed before applying. Follow the directions to the letter, give it a solid 2 weeks to cure before filling the tank and you shouldn't have a problem. The cost should be about $20 delivered. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/prosealant.php?clickkey=11825 Life is too short to drink cheap beer.

What is missing from the videos is what the reported winds were. Life is too short to drink cheap beer.

Oops. Demonstrated, not limit. It's been a while. I was always taught that the demonstrated number was a good place to put a "limit." I agree that "maintain control" is the deciding factor, and that gusts & rotors make it more... Interesting. True, but airline ops (121) changes things. A crew that exceeds a max demonstrated crosswind is taking a personal risk if things go south. I can't think of a single crew member that I was paired with that would exceed the published max crosswind component. We just didn't want to take that risk. With that said, I've landed piston singles in conditions that exceeded the max demonstrated crosswind component. Under 121, with paying pax in the back, never. Life is too short to drink cheap beer.

Anyone know any details? I'm used to the idea of trespassing just being a fine under provincial Civil Law, but that's in Canada, while in the US I guess there is more of criminal trespass . What did they supposedly steal, other than altitude? From Google: "Burglary in the Third Degree (NY PL 140.20) is the most common degree of Burglary charged throughout New York City and the surrounding region. One is guilty of this crime if one knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in a building and one has the intent to commit a crime (any crime) while there. As noted on the front page of the Burglary section, this crime is a “D” felony punishable by up to seven years in state prison." Drug dealers selling to school children get much less. Even though I live on Long Island, I did my A in 2012 at The Ranch and consider it my home DZ. They have found a good balance between tandems, students and fun jumpers. After my A, I had no problem finding others to jump with. There's typically a bunch of guys who travel from NYC to The Ranch. Life is too short to drink cheap beer.

63'- Before my time 86'- In high school, but home sick 01'- Driving RJ's for the regionals, it was my leg from Columbus, OH to LaGuardia. The rampers were chocking our nose gear as the first plane hit, so I was flying up the Hudson at the same time those sons-of-bitches were following it south. Life is too short to drink cheap beer.
