  1. That would be an important detail. Isn't the farm closed for the fitzgerald boogie 15-18?
  2. Plus I dont see the NEED to have it done in a week. Some of the most fun you will have at the dz is with other jumpers on the ground. I took my time and had a blast. There wasn't a lot of pressure to have it done by the end of the week. If we got weathered out we had fun rather than stressing out because I wasn't going to finish. My 2 cents.
  3. I will be driving up to Maytown Pa this weekend to pick up my new rig. I don't know if that helps.
  4. Hopefully with the plans to build three we will at least get one.
  5. Skydive Arizona seems to have pretty good weather until it gets too hot and the dust devils come out to play. I think their AFF package includes tunnel time to start as well. I can't speak for the other places yet but I can give a possitive review of Skydive AZ.
  6. A Couple????? Bad ass. Although I wonder if they know how loud they are?
  7. I was recently reading a PD reserve paper and noticed that it was actually illegal to jump over the limit. Although I don't know when the FAA would be out enforcing this. Maybe if you are doing a demo. "Many jumpers exceed the maximum weight limit for their main canopies. While this may be foolish, it is not illegal. The maximum exit weight for a reserve is a legal limit. In the United States, it is a violation of federal law to jump a reserve if your exit weight exceeds this limit, and other countries may enforce this limit as well."
  8. What DZ? Sounds refreshingly Old School!
  9. Anyone else driving down the east coast? I'm headed down from the DC area. I'm probably going to take 95 down the coast. If anyone else is making the trip and wants to car pool I'm all for saving some gas money. PM me if interested.
  10. I showed up to the DZ Friday night or Sat morning and didn't leave until last load sunday. Fires, beer, (not my)cornhole, and beer. why would you leave?
  11. The DZ I started my license at was a small static line DZ. After a couple of jumps when they believed you were going to continue your training you were deemed a “prospect”. Prospects were responsible for getting beers, pushing in the plane, and other small tasks. I thought it was a fun part of the experience and I was wondering if any other DZ have something similar.
  12. Might not be as much fun but you can probably afford your own rig sooner. And I don't know if I had "fun" for quite a few jumps. I really had fun after I got my license when I jumped with no pressure. If you repeat a jump in SL/IAD its only $40-$60 which is cheaper than a licenced jump with rental at some places. AFF will help you get your B sooner though. I did SL and didn't have my freefall time by 50 jumps. I would wieght the pros and cons to see which is best for you but I think fun would be a pro for each. And the fun I had after the last load was more than my student skydives anyways. My 2 cents.
  13. I lived in Imperial beach for 4 years. Its a pretty cool little surf town. The IB forum is the most south west restaurant in the country and a pretty cool local bar. Its about a 15 to 20 min drive to Coronado which is a nice place to spend a day. If you get bored in Coronado you can take the ferry to San Diego and walk around. Just watch out for drunk sailors.
  14. NOOOO!!!!!!!! WAY too hot of a corset to torch it! Give it to me if you dont want it! I'll wear it! I'll trade you something else to torch if you want to flame something He could always donate it to the DPH corset collection, or who knows, he may decide after wearing it he wants to keep it. I see a speeding ticket stop going badly for a guy wearing that while driving in GA.
  15. Will this work to get a dph # ? http://www.charlotterusse.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12248299&cp=4078198.11025267.11589624.11585780 Reds really not my color but it's $10
  16. Must be nice! 46 here on sunday (with a 182) and I'm sure I don't have it bad. Have fun.
  17. I don't know where it is $70 a minute. I just split 30 minutes with some friends. With a coach it was $475 so $158 for 10 minutes. That’s like paying $16 for a 13,500ft jump with 60 seconds freefall. Tunnel is way cheaper then skydiving and more useful for working on basic freefall skills. In the tunnel you are not worrying about watching your altimeter and you have a fixed reference point with the walls. You get to focus on your actual control skills with out being jacked out of your mind with adrenaline like you are on your first jumps. Plus your coach can stand next to you and give coaching during flying. Plus the tunnel I was at gave me a dvd of my time in the tunnel. If I was doing aff I would like to spend time in the tunnel first. It would be nice to go into the jump knowing how to stay stable, turn etc. I think they have you do practice pulls. If you fuck up and fail a jump in aff that cost you a lot more than $70 minute. I’m new to skydiving as well. I have a friend that has the same amount of jumps but 40 minutes of tunnel time. He is MUCH better in the air than I am. It’s like he is 40 jumps ahead which is a lot under 200 jumps. However the tunnel will not make you a skydiver. You will still need to learn how to not die or kill others.
  18. I'm not sure about the AFF rules but my IAD DZ wanted you to be current within 30 days. If you try and make only 1 a month and you get weathered one weekend you might have to take a step back. Which from what I understand with the cost of AFF could cost quite a bit. There is a lot of other stuff you could learn at the DZ. And people to meet. Just something to think about and congrats on your first jump. Is there a tunnel around?
