Here I did a quick search on ETSY then noticed there is way to much batman shit. http://www.etsy.com/listing/85695281/vintage-1970s-1980s-unknown-batman-bendy?ref=sr_gallery_10&sref=&ga_search_query=batman&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_page=2&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_facet=vintage

Congrats!! Now that you learned how to survive you can start learning how to skydive. From what I have seen it takes a lot longer to learn how to skydive. But keep working on the surviving thing too.

I'll keep my eye out for weird batman stuff.

I ordered my first rig through them. Laura answered all my questions and called manufacturers if she didn’t have the answers. I might try and stop by there on my way to a boogie in March. I figure I’ll give them a case of beer for buying my first rig.

I just got back from 6 days at Eloy and I had an amazing time. I was able to get in 32 jumps while I was out there. Almost doubled my jump count but must have tripled my knowledge. The organizers and staff were great. After never going to a commercial DZ I have learned the importance of the organizers. The first two days were spent jumping with just my two friends. Both of them had close to the same amount of jumps. We basically just kept free-flying the exits trying to get together. Then on day four, after a suggestion from another jumper, we got with the organizer and had a much better time. Met some good people too. I just wanted to say thanks for a great week. And yes I will be back.

Skydiving for a living for ONE year
Spills replied to snoworskate's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Do what? Go live on a DZ and get a job not jumping? Maybe working as a packer is different then being a bicycle mechanic. I didn't get to ride as much as most people but I did get to hang out with friends from my industry when the shop closed. I got to learn the ins and outs of the industry from the inside. Some of my friends have stayed in the industry and now I have hook ups for life. Most of the fun i have had in skydiving has taken place on the ground. The stupid shit you get into when you get weathered out. Maybe you don't have to work at the DZ but can find a way to work just enough to survive and jump and still live on a dz. -
Skydiving for a living for ONE year
Spills replied to snoworskate's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Here is an outside opinion from an inexperienced jumper. I’ve been working in my field for over 15 years. I am making a very good salary with absurd benefits. I was engaged and set to be married later this year to someone I thought was a perfect match. I was set to get old like everyone else. Now after a broken engagement and wondering why I’m working in a job that I don’t love. I feel trapped because of my salary that I have gotten accustomed to. Looking back I was probably happier just out of high school when I was working as a full time bicycle mechanic. I was surrounded by friends and loved my job. I’d say fuck it and do it, if it was me. But that’s a personal decision however it’s a decision that’s a lot easier when you are younger and are not tied down by so much. Don’t sell your self out. And as a side note I was lucky to get into skydiving just in time. It probably saved me from being a depressed file of crap. -
Government Firewall won't let me but I'l ltry and remember when I get home tomorrow.

I have absolutely no problem landing in the alternate landing area, or even the desert. As far as the canopies flying one size smaller, thanks I will make sure to pack my PLF just incase.

It was cheaper to rent a car for the week. It would have cost me $60 each way for the shuttle and it only cost me $75 for my share or the rental for the week. If I was going by myself or ariving at the same time as my friends it might have been better to take the shuttle but we are all coming and going at differnt times.

NO,NO. I won't be jumping the new canopy at eloy. I won't have the new rig for atleast 3 weeks. So I should get another 20-40 jumps in on the Sabre at 1.08:1 I also wouldn't try downsizing at a bigger DZ than I'm used to. I'll save that for my Cessna DZ and do a hop and pop so I'm the only one in the air. I have heard about the landing patern being set by the first one down on a Skydive Radio interview. They said if the first one down sets X-wind landing then everyone will be doing a X-wind landing. I have been studing the arials though and I can't seem to spot the windsock.

My current body weight is 158. I currently have 45 jumps. I am currently jumping a Sabre 1 170 with a wing loading of 1.08. I ordered a rig built to fit a Triathlon 160 (tight) so that way I could get a good life time out of it. I was fighting chronic fatigue syndrome for about two years and went from normal weight of 145 to 180 in 6 months. The doctor finally figured out the right combo of meds and I have lost 14lbs since December 20th. So when I ordered my rig and canopy I tried to estimate my weight for when my gear was delivered. I also ordered a triathlon because I heard it was a docile canopy and good for newer jumpers. I am comfortable jumping the saber at the current wing loading. I haven’t landed off and have stood up every landing except my crosswind (for b license maneuvers) landing when I chose to PLF. As far as distance; 3 ft, 20ft, and 40ft not including the x-wind(according to my logbook). And I'm not saying I have mastered it by any means but I don't feal uncomfortable. My home DZ has lots of outs (if that is even relevant) and surrounded on all sides by fields. And I’ve chosen to land off before when I first down sized from the Manta 288 to Fury 220. I am going to Eloy for 7 days and plan on jumping 20-30 times. I should have roughly 80 jumps by the time my new rig arrives and will be dropping from a Sabre 170 to the Triathlon 160. I will likely be 5 lbs lighter by then but if not my wing loading would be 1.14. Is the jump from a wing loading of 1.08 to 1.14 a very noticeable one? Will the difference in 9 cell to a 7 cell change much either? From what I have read, the triathlon has less forward speed and sinks in much more. I can also borrow the rig I'm using for as long as I need for free so thats not an issue. Thoughts? Edited to clarify some stuff

Thread addition.. If there is anyone flying into Phoenix and needs a ride to eloy I rented a car and can give someone a ride at 3pm(ish) when I leave or 8:30pm(ish) when I go back to the airport to pick up my friends. That this sunday.

I am. What were you thinking? Show the picture provide several option buttons and time reation time. Sounds like an easy enough app. Maybe when I get back from eloy I'll whip something up and post it on Itunes for you. I plan on sitting through the first jump class again, when my dz has another one. I am also very interested in getting into the instruction side of things, with time of course.

Great idea! I was an EMT for a number of years and I could definitely see how this could help. In EMT class you don’t really give much thought about a lot of skydiving injuries. For example, people entering trees at 20+ mph.

WOOHOO!! My leave finally got approved. So it looks like this will be my first boogie (already got called for beer). I’m trying to bring some others from up north but might be headed down by myself. Although I was worried about having my “b” license it doesn’t look like that will be a problem. I’m headed to Eloy for a week to jump my ass off and do some tunnel time. I might even be able to hit my 100th at the boogie. So as a sub 100 wonder, will there be people to jump with? I’m used to smaller club DZs were I know everyone and even Handsome Dave will do a 2-way. I’ve only ventured to a big DZ once and I was the only fun jumper on the Otter, so that was fun. I do feel as though I owe Billy Vance a drink for all the time I’ve spent on “BillyVance's sick and twisted and/or NSFW photo attachment thread”. Do you have a favorite bottle of poison? Anyways, I’m looking forward to meeting some of the people I have seen posting in the forums.

Trust me I wish I had an AAD on the rig I was borrowing. When I started buying gear the AAD was my first purchase. But that AAD is sitting at chutingStar waiting on my container to show up.
-
I guess I could have worded that better. Do you need to have an AAD to jump there? I'm not looking to sell one. I have noticed that a lot of DZs in VA require AADs and I am currently borrowing a rig that doesn't have one.
-
I might head south this weekend and I was wondering if you need an AAD at VSC? I could not find any info on the web site or on the forum.

Vermont is also thinking of taking the prisoners out of the evidence storage room.
