There wasnt anyone looking on the ground that night in that time frame because the plane was still in the air and they didnt confirm until they went through it that he was not in fact on board. How much time do you need to field pack your stuff, hide it, and walk towards your ride? Takes me about ten minutes. He had all the time in the world, there was NOBODY out looking for him at 8:30 - 10:30 pm north of Vancouver. NOBDOY! They used to do accuracy contests at Tahlequah with non steerable rounds. Most guys could hit pretty close to the target (daytime) but it was under the limitation that each guy got to decide his own spot. He jumped. He survived. He had turkey the next day like everybody else in America. The crew had beer and sandwhiches in the hotel in Reno.

...not sure...the word I had heard was mimmeographed. I dont think xerox photocopy technology was out back then? But the concept of laying the bills face down on "something" so that an actual picture of them could be retained was always what I had understood to be what they did in the interest of speed. If thats true, you would be hard pressed to find a banker that would lump randon amounts of bills into rubber bands, they just dont think like that. But hey, maybe there is somebody that was at that table that day that can answer that? In any case, its trivia, they ended up in bundles of some sort that ended up under Brians picnic. I would just like to know what really happened behind those doors that afternoon in getting the money ready. Somebody out there knows the answer to this...

OK - thanks - this is info from someone I talked with years ago out there. The procedure or source of the money was never of interest to me since it didnt help solve the crime, but the guy that told me this had some kind of connection with the bank at the time and he related this is how it was done. Since the interetry of the flight was in jepardy, I wouldnt think that you would make up random packets and make the guy mad, I would think they would make it very easy for him to count up and know he got what he demanded. Many procedures were changed with each and every US skyjacking after that. This one? I dont think anybody was ready for this, I dont think the FBI was ready, Boeing hadnt modified the planes so this couldnt be done, and banks werent ready with mimmeographed cash, all of these features WERE later improved but probably not on this one. In any case, the stacking of the money is unrelated to the crime, without a doubt the money ended up on board, and without a doubt some of it ended up along the river. If the account I related is not accurate, then does anybody know any bank employees from the day that could tell the real story on what went on behind the scenes to get this package ready?

The bank had to prepare the money per Coopers orders, but they also had to comply with FBI requests very quickly. Twentys come in bundles of 1000 individual notes ($20,000 per bundle) from the treasury and are broken down from there by the institution. My first look at $200,000 in $20 bills on the table was astonishing to me in terms of the size and the weight. See video to get a look yourself. The bills are clean, tighly packed and kind of vacuum packed like bricks. The bank people had to take them all out, lay them face down and mimeograph them one page at a time, and restack them back into some transportable means. 10,000 individual bills loose thrown in a garbage bag would have taken up a lot of space! After mimeographing, they formed an assembly line and counted piles of $20's 100 at a time, making each "packet" a $2000 packet. The only medium available to keep the packets together was those trusty bank rubber bands, and they needed 100 of them. I believe that each group of 5 packets were also banded together so in the end there were 20 packets each containing 5 packets. What Brian was found was three of the banded packets, which means that one of the five packs broke apart. This also provides a clear and obvious explanation for why it was there, where the missing twentys went.

I cannot find evidence that the 727 was used for dropping people in Viet Nam Boeing had dropped hundreds of people and parcels from the stairs. When they were called that night, they had all the answers because it had all been done. If you want to see what it looks like, here is an unmodified -100 that they used for the movie and you can see that although not perfect, the stairs do come down enough to get out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVW_yr10Vss

So who bought the $20 at the auctions?

You got to go back and read the note that he gave to the crew. He gave them a path, and an incentive to them honest. To unravel this mystery you got to be an old school pilot and an old school jumper. The solution is right in front of your nose.

I think the "spot" is the most important... Me too! I remember being on some loads that I never boarded just because I knew who was spotting. Youre well on your way to solving this case. The spot is everything. Dan

Its doubtful that Annie will fly again. Too many problems. I have N143D, the Herpa DC-3. I jumped southern cross years ago at Muskogee, it is now owned by a friend Jim Terry. Jim invited me to fly it for him for one of his first airshows a few years ago as a prototype heritage flight beta test. See video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nBEGGxRyZM You guys are on the right track. In order to sort out the cooper case, you have to think like a skydiver. Something the FBI never could do. If youre going to jump a round at night, whats priority number one? (other than a gear check)

Thank you. The folly is long over, there was no case. Steerable is a disadvantage in this case. An expert would have selected no steering and the least drive. He did. Its all dark down there. What are ya going to steer into, the least dark? Steering is only good when you got something to steer towards. Otherwise drive is not your friend. I never jumped at Rantoul, just Quincy and originally Tahlequah and Muskogee. But I have flown Fat Annie, and I currently own her little sister, a -3. You and I may have been on a load or two along the way, who knows...

I apologize for the promo. We had intended to have the project complete by the anniversary. My wife was diagnosed with Colon cancer in April of 2010, and she passed away in June of this year. The cooper case is one that I have worked on for years, its just that the last year has been hard. I have two young boys that my full attention and motivation has now turned towards. Everyone is allowed an opinion. I resolve to remain courteous and respectful of each and every individual, I hope the same is afforded me. My only offer is for you to watch my video documentary when it is released, and come to your own conclusions. No more, no less. I am not selling anything, and I have nothing to gain. I just want everyone to know the whole story. The griffin incident that you have referenced is an excellent case in point. If you read from the media and government only what you see on your laptop, its a bizzarre story. Like the cooper case, there was just very little in that story that was true. The media is out there to sell advertising. The more fantastic the better. The FBI was trying to not look bad in the cooper case, but they made a lot of really big mistakes. Many of you on here are highly qualified experts in many areas. My promise to you is that the solution I present to those with sufficient experience and subject knowledge will answer all of your questions once and for all. I just can't get it out right now. We have had a hard time here. I hope you understand. By the way, it wasnt Barb, and it wasnt Duane, and it wasnt Marla's uncle. Sincerely, Dan
