anyone watched the full film of this? Well there is some skydiving, as well as the bas jumping. http://sebmontaz.com/videos/245-one-step-beyond-the-true-story-of-geraldine-fasnacht-58-mn I watched their last film and thought it was very good. just wondering if anyone here has seen this one before I download it. -
Hi all, I moved over to AUS from the UK last year. I had my license converted to an APF license from the BPA one, and now (April 1) my UK license has run out. I will be jumping whenever I go overseas if I can, and most places seem happy with BPA licenses. Can the same be said for APF licenses? Should I renew my UK license? Its not a huge cost, but is there any point to keeping it? I probably wont be going back there any time soon, much more likely to be jumping in APAC areas. Thanks Rich

What is your DZ? Frick $80 seems expensive. I am going to be working in Tokyo for a couple of weeks in May. I was thinking of bringing my rig in case I can get away for a day. I'm sure I'll be able to find some excuse to get away..... :)

took you 35 years of flying before doing a skydive. You are brave, I feel much better when I have my chute nearby when I am on a plane. welcome to the sport.

Thanks for the replies and PM's Guys, I know asking "what is the best..." is an impossible question, but I am nowhere near any shops, so the only way to try them on is to ask around at the DZ (which I will do). Thanks for your input, I will try on as many as I can when I am next at the DZ and go from there.

Hi Guys, I am also waiting on my new rig, I got this email this morning from Aerodyne : Hello Richard, That are no delays with production at this time. We did have a fabric shortage about 6 months ago. But we have be up to speed for some time now. 12 weeks is still the correct ETA. You can always contact your dealer for any update on you gear. As we cannot give you any exact info on orders placed via a distributor. Blue Skies, Rob

Hi guys, I want to get a fullface helmet. I like the look of the Z1, and want to do RW and Freefly stuff. Does anyone have any recommendations? How is the Z1 for fogging? Do you think there are any better options? thanks Rich

it could be done via skype on a smart phone. easiest way I can think of is to strap a decent phone to your chest. Something like the galaxy s2 4g has a HD camera and 4g connectivity, assuming the cell signal is strong enough it could easily stream HD over the 4g network, skype to skype. its a shame you cant connect a usb hd bullet cam to the phone.

welcome! hope you are ready to sacrifice all other things to throw yourself out of airborne vehicles! Once you get stung by this sport it can take over your life!

How can I fix these problems in my jumping? (AFF)
richardw38 replied to rss_v's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Contact Ally Milne at Airkix Tunnel. Tell him your story and book some tunnel time with him. He'll sort you out. allymilne@live.co.uk or 07973 282970 Brain overload is fairly common doing this, its not a natural place for us humans to be. Some time in the tunnel will help you sort out your body, and the "flying" part, if you dont have to think about that bit, you can concentrate on the rest of the jump. good luck. -

Virgin Atlantic Free Rig Transporation
richardw38 replied to richardw38's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you’ll be skydiving at your destination, you’re welcome to bring your parachute onto your Virgin Atlantic flight. Note that it will be carried in the hold and not the cabin. As long as your parachute doesn’t exceed 23kg in weight, you can bring it in addition to your free baggage allowance at no additional charge. http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/travel-information/baggage/sports-equipment.html sorry if its been posted already -

ditto above. I only got my B rating because there was bad weather. us A license guys and girls were bored, the instructors were bored, so when they asked us if we wanted to do some theory while we waited, we all jumed at the chance.

For the price of a tandem you can probably do stage 1 of the AFF. I would check that out, its a much better experience than another tandem (I've never done one tho). You'll get the ground school, and 1 jump with two instructors, and land your own chute! As for the ears thing. I suffered a lot from that during my AFF. Try to clear your ears a few times on the way down. I find that swallowing ever few tho feet works for me. Since I started doing that I never get any pain.

can you do payments on skydiving gear?
richardw38 replied to dontlikemustard's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
+1 After you've done your first couple of jumps, and are sure you want to continue, talk to a few people around the DZ, there is bound to be a bunch of decent 2nd hand gear for sale. You also have the advantage of being able to show the gear to your instructor so he can inspect it and tell you if its decent and suitable. -
6 years is a long time with no jumps, but I'm sure if you speak to a CI he will be able to get a feel for what you need to do. I would recommend give someone like Scotty Milne a ring, he is probably the best instructor around, just ask anyone in the EU. His website is http://activeskydiving.co.uk/. Best of all he does regular trips to Spain where the weather is great. fly ryaniar to Girona for £80 return and spend a few days jumping with him. tell him Richard Ward suggested him and maybe he'll do you a deal. :)

Looks good Barry. You have a few pics of people doing FS stuff in the gallery, but no mention of it anywhere else. You might want to fix that if you are planning on doing more FS stuff. I'm really glad I did the FS with you before I left the UK. In Aus, the FS stuff is part of the B license, so, I was able to get the Aus B license when I went to a local DZ. Whats skyride?

First AFF jump in little over a week....
richardw38 replied to Alliecat's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You have nothing to be scared about. You have already done a tandem, and presumably were not scared there. On your first AFF you will have two experienced instructors holding you at all times, and talking to you as you float under the chute. Just listen to them, and concentrate on what you need to do on your first jump. You will no doubt be going through everything that was taught in the ground school, that you will be too busy to be scared anyway. Ofcourse this will not help until you have actually met up with your instructors, so in the meantime, enjoy the nerves, its kinda fun! its good to feel alive! I was worried as hell a couple of days before my AFF, I had not even done a tandem, and was thinking I had made a rash decision on a whim. But by the time I got up in the plane I had such faith and confidence in my two instructors that I had no fear at all when I got to the door. It was kinda wierd. check in, check out, whoosh. blue skies Rich -
Just moved to Australia (Nagambie)
richardw38 replied to richardw38's topic in Introductions and Greets
G'day everyone! First post on DZ.com. I just moved from the UK to Australia. I did my AFF back in April at Empuriabrava with Scotty Milne. I've only been on two DZ trips, but on both occasions I stayed a week and did 30ish jumps on each trip, I think it’s fair to say I'm hooked. On my last trip I managed to get my B license and FS1 so I am now licensed to play with others. Who'd have thought that throwing yourself out of a plane in various different fashions, and generally throwing each other through the sky while you hurtle towards the ground would be soooo much fun. It'll be even more fun when I actually get a little better at it!! My new DZ will be Nagambie, I'm going up there tomorrow to speak to the CI about getting my Uk license converted to an Aussy one, and probably doing a couple of jumps. I would love to jump with some others once the CI has deemed that I'm not a hazard to others. Tall, skinny dude with blonde dreads, say Hi if you see me around the DZ. Blue Skies!
