  1. understood now.. cool I also await eagerly to see what this new device will bring. I have 4 years left on mine but coming from an engineering background I find this stuff really cool.. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  2. Congrats! Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  3. congrats and good luck today... I hope I get some (luck) soon too. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  4. Thanks Hook, I was trying to find a way at 4:00 AM to get accross the fact that batteries didn't instantly dry up after 2 years, but I guess I didn't do the greatest job. The post should be read with that spirit in mind but thanks for the correction. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  5. I agree with Dave as well. Try a ZP 170 first and see what you think of the difference. That being said I have recently gone from a 170 to a 135. I fly very cautiously and have the luxury of having many open flat fields around the DZ to land in if trouble were to arise (The flat prairies are good for something.) I did however do some jumps on a 150 and 3 different 135s before I made the switch. I also made spent a fair amount of time landing crosswind, into wind, and downwind on my old canopy. I am not sure if you were planning to buy brand new gear or not but my philosophy is that, except for the choice of colours, it doesn't pay to buy brand new canopies especially at the stage when you are finding out what kind of canopy you are going to settle into. There are plenty of people almost always selling every kind of canopy and you can save a ton of cash. I don't know if it means that much to Americans but I think this way partly cause of the exchange rate and the tax I need to pay at the border so it might not be a big deal for you guys. my 2 cents Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  6. The 2 year replacement cycle, though many of us treat it as law was more of a suggestion. It doesn't mean that the batteries only lasted 2 years. It meant that airtec did some tests and found that in that particular configuration using those particular batteries that 2 years was all they could "guarantee" them working for. The batteries don't go bad after 2 years automatically. Airtec thought/thinks that it is in our best interest to replace them then because the probability of errors due to low or unstable voltage from the battery is increased to a point where it is less acceptable. just my 2 cents. 7. WE have one too although they only tease you with BASE jumping in the ads for the channel.http://www.canada.com/entertainment/tvchannels/xtremesports/ None of the shows actually seem to have it. Although I don't know for sure as I don't subscribe to Cable TV. Most shows that I want to watch are Downloaded these days. Saves a whack of money and it used to save time. Now that I am unemployed all I have is time to waste. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  8. I wish I too could believe that. From my perspective most that would use that word directed at someone are ignorant of how deep it burns. like a child playing with a lighter near a room full of gas. It knows it has been told that gas and fire need to be handled carefully. But others use the two of them together why can't I.. They don't understand why others (other blacks) use the term and they can't after all its just a word right? It boils down to ignorance for me. Willful ignorance. the books are there the movies and films made. Many devices are around to aid us in walking for a little bit in another persons shoes yet often we don't. Too much effort maybe. Might miss the game on TV or the latest episode of the simpsons. the sad sad reality of the world that we live in. Thank goodness for the friends and people that we meet because of our shared love of the sky. It is a small reminder of what people can acheive when we check the above sort of stuff at the door and concentrate on togetherness and enjoyment rather than division. ok so I didn't mean for that to be that long. Age P.S. I have heard of that book and been meaning to read it. Thanks for the reminder. I will go and look for it. S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.

  12. Do you know what role Lou is playing if it is billed at all? I would like to watch for him. I used to watch the tv series and was young enough that I was scared of the beast. S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  13. I almost peed myself on that line. I liked X1 alot and wasn't disappointed by the second one. Even though some of the reviews I have seen haven't been favourable. I am looking forward to the Matrix and Hulk. S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  14. I don't think that it makes sense to really compare the two because of a few things. 1) the whole artistic license thing. 2) Hollywood is ruled by the allmighty dollar so even if Stan Lee himself wanted to keep something true to a comic book and others thought that it wouldn't sell as well as the new idea then it wasn't happening. Case in point. In the spiderman movie spideys webslingers were genetic instead of made by peter parker. And the spider was genetically engineered/modified as opposed to radioactive. I know that you and I would have been fine with a radioactive spider and webslingers but it was discussed amonst the people making that film and they didn't think the general public would buy it. I guess what I am saying is that they end up making these movies to appeal to an LCD and that isn't the comic guys. 15. Hey aufreefly! No I was referring specifically to that fact that he felt he needed to keep his mouth shut. Taken out of context I can see how that might seem like I was advocating violence. I have been around for these types of situations and you are absolutely right a bigger fight just ensues. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.

  17. Excellent point. Some just aren't worth the effort I absolutely agree. age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  18. What a can of worms this could be... Agreed. And maybe it is noted but people are afraid to say anything. The society that deals with that properly is the one that doesn't need affirmative action, quotas for hiring women, and pays women equally. It will come... just not as quickly as you and I would like. I am a firm believer in not "having" to do anything. If you get a racist slur, and it is in your heart to do so, then by all means do what you need to do to defend yourself. But you have to ask if you really want to go down that road and lower yourself to the level that it will go to. For myself that is never an easy question. Because though I am a peaceful person per se. There is so much anger that is stirred inside of me when the slurs come out... At the end of the day we should all just skydive and forget the BS.
  19. Agreed. You don't have to follow his life very long to see that he has always had a bit of an agenda and his actions were not always in the bests interests of unity, even after the "Black Muslim era" Definitely an interesting character. S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  20. Tell your black friend that though there are only a few of us now we will never "take over" the sport of skydiving if he continues to have that attitude. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  21. I would compliment my skydiving gf if I still had one. She left me for a while to teach english in Taiwan. Wasn't sure for how long so we broke it off. She did rock! Still does. I am not sure how often I told her but any load I was on I did my darndest to fly like her cause she was so much better than me (and I had more jumps than her). I hope I told her lots. Though it isn't just a guy thing we guys do tend to take those things for granted sometimes. Not only did she rock at Skydiving but she was good outside of that too. She rode motorcycle with me. No, not on the back of mine but when I got into it she learned to ride and bought a bike right along with me (newer than mine even). I really respect you and look up to you. So even though you probably won't see this. Jill you rock! Age edit to fix tense. S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  22. Damn straight.. I jumped one for a hundred jumps or so. Still have it even though I got new gear. IN fact the eye on my new voodoo is pink in memory of that canopy. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  23. I can make you a list: 1. Coolness factor 2. The belief that one has "arrived" when one can do HP landings. 3. Just another aspect to our multifaceted sport to get into. 4. More Rush after the freefall. 5. Acceptable risk (what is acceptable to some isn't to others. This is much like Whuffos who don't understand why we jump. shouldn't we just be hapy to be alive? Some just don't know the risks and that is another story all together. ) I can go on on this list but I don't think it is necessary. Debating why people do it isn't going to solve anything. Whuffos call us crazy right? we still jump. matter of opinion I suppose. I don't agree with those that screw up landing patterns to do an HP landing. If they need to they should land out to do so but I guess that for many that would be a direct contradiction to the coolness factor. Amen to that age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  24. I noticed that in the preview too. I backed it up several times and the wing isn't connected while they are running. in the first few frames after they start falling you can see it flapping and unconnected. but I don't know much about wing suits either S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
  25. Shitty dude.. I am scared of what it will cost me to fix my car. and I know that it is gonna cav on me any minute now. I am gonna just stop driving it and licence my motorcycle then (thank god for that small blessing). Maybe I will fix it after the season. Best of luck with that and call me if you need a ride out to the dz while my car is still running. Age S.E.X. party #2 ..It is far worse to live with fear, than to die confronting it.
