Stay focused people! Dear Jon, this is the SKYDIVING forum, please see the BASE thread about people who made bad decisions. On THIS topic, you wish to compare apples to marshmallows. Two very different suits... I do however find ALOT of useful info about the two leading makers of wingsuits and what separates them apart...
-
Seams like we got a little off topic, BUT on that note, I LOVE MY SKYSNATCH, for ALL types of jumps...
-
ALSO, i see some pilots who recommend the following: pilot7, the horizon and epicene, but this guy is pulling the trigger on a new: WINX!
-
Too echo some other birdmen: Pretty much any container that has the corners taken out is OK. Yes you need a nine foot bridle. If you fly a camera fly it backwards to see your opening and body position during the openings...(get coaching) On that note, YOU control YOUR openings with a WS. YOU have much to learn as this wingsuiting life is a whole new animal. The two biggest things for me early on was stability during deployment and continuing to fly thru the entire opening without looking up! "Flying" the suit is pretty basic, mastering the deployment takes time/practice. Enjoy the ride

Disadvantages to the 'alternate' bridle routing method?

If you go left then right, it should be immediately clear that something isn't right! My first rig was a Wings... -
WINX for the WIN! For the record I jump a 170 Storm. I did my research and needed a WS friendly canopy. It seemed like right after I pulled the trigger on a Storm, ALL the WS specific canopies strung up! The Storm isn't a bad WS canopy BUT I really want a new WINX! The Epicene and Horizon are "WS Exclusive" , where the WINX is a general use canopy. The other HUGE factor is the material and longevity of... For us regular types who don't get free shit thrown at as, it's a no brainer.

And now try to contemplate all this while in a straight jacket, i.e WS! GOOD times!

Is this the BEST you've got??? WAFJ

I tolerate 100% down and 3-4 month long order times because

OK, so firstly, NO Boobie option in the poll: FAIL! All kidding aside, I have ZERO problem paying up front for CUSTOM shit. You are hopefully making an informed decision on whom to buy from and don't mind the wait for something that is tailored for YOU! I've bought three NEW wing suits, one NEW custom PD canopy(because custom colors are important!) and just bought my first NEW jump suit, www.KuaSky.com This is the type of sport that really beckons you to find equipment that fits like a glove, because you know, your ass is riding on it... -
Soooo, after watching the video I'd say it's obvious what the problem is, but I get that it's YOUR fourth jump! Stay current my friend, BEST advice I can give anyone. Oh and relax and arch hard.
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soAirkFeyFU This pull was around 4500, so plenty of time to figure what the fuck was going on. I identified the toggle fire straight way and corrected it... Yes unzipping my arm wing would have helped rather that struggle pushing thru it. But when the shit hits the fan, you do what you do! Luckily I didn't doo in my small clothes!

DAMN!!!!! NOT good!

I too was not a "perfect" student and repeated a level for the exact same reason. This was before the day of GOPRO and when my instructor showed me what i had done and more importantly how to corrected it, I was more than a little pissed. How could I have screwed up something so simple was my thought... So for me it really was simple and from that day forward stopping turns was in the past. What worked for me: EVERYTHING revolves around a strong arch, from there and a good neutral body position is going to help immensely. Be aware of what the legs are doing, done by toe taps or touching feet to butt and the opposite, extending them... again, think neutral. What is neutral? The only way to be sure is to have someone else right next to you! Don't make the rookie mistake of jumping alone. Just don't. So about turns. Super easy, dip an elbow in the direction you wish to turn, looking prior to starting naturally. Come back neutral and dip that opposite elbow to stop said turn... return to neutral. Does this make sense? I use rather aggressive stabbing movements for quick turns and stops. Hope this helps.

or working on Lodi's packing mat!!!

Prepper? Costco and Sam's ready to take your money

Well, there's 'just a little bit' of marketing hype attached to bottled water. "Hydrogenated" water, "Alkaline" water, "Deep Ocean" water, "Raw" water, "Hexagonal" water, the list goes on and on. Barnum was right. THIS begs ANOTHER topic of "Dead Water". No seriously -
I'm already living in "heaven", so how does this play out for me??? lol
-
THIS IMO is a big part of our flawed society. "We" are WAY too nice to bad people. Staying on topic, I would totally agree on the minimum age of 21. I personally grew up around ALL the firearms and learned gun safety from an early age. If your family teaches/trains you with firearms, then all the more better... ALL service members would be exempt however.

There are some good recommendations here thus far, to echo a few: Score an area rug to pack on. Pick a way that works and stick too that, practice, practice, practice... pay a "good" packer AND watch them pack. It's a paid lesson. take your time and don't get to frustrated. Persistence and perseverance will pay off in the end. keep watching the youtubes! I would follow this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JiAegc8EOw it's the one that helped me the most in my hour of need. Get all that air out BEFORE laying it down and try to work quickly, but relaxed. Hope this helps.

My .02 for what is it worth. Someone with your experience or lack there of should be focusing on getting better packing with ALL the stows, and yes, DOUBLE stow them all. once you've got a firm grasp of packing consistently then maybe perhaps take the game to the next level... And by no means am I any type of packing wizard or sky god. I only have 475 jumps with almost half of them with a WS. Flying the dress kind of makes you refine your packing game! Among other aspects of flight. Happy Packing and remember, it's not a race
-
food for thought: Good instructors like to teach the right way rather than the wrong. Not that we all can't learn from our own and the mistakes of others... Focus on the positive grasshopper.
-
Pay no attention to a Golden Knight who jumps a Racer!!! LOL, love ya man!
-
Save some cash, get a Storm! I fly WS mostly but sprinkle in some other jumps... Great over all canopy.
-
Throw them under the bus, what DZ???

Looks like we needed an UPDATE! 182/206 are the only options here now. JR and Kathy run a nice operation with very competent instructors. I'm a local and the 25 min drive with heated/AC in door packing being a HUGE turn on for people who pack there own... MANY food options close by. Friendly staff and fun jumpers, don't forget to bring the wingsuits ;) ~DANGER
