Welcome... I hope you have a credit card with a very high limit! You think the skydiving is expensive, wait till you have to start buying the beer!!! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

    Voodoo

Yeah, that's exactly where your priorities should be... How it looks... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  3. Yes it did and still does... It won't be long now... Ya know, renting gear after owning a tricked out system isn't exactly fun...! But, at least I still get to jump... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  4. Nothing to get irritated about big guy... It's all good. On a side note, be prepared for much worse if you hit up boot camp even a little chubby... Those guys are relentless and the second you give them any reason (like getting a little irritated), they'll ride you for three straight months! Oh, and one more thing to help out during boot... Just keep in mind that it's a big game to them and don't take anything personally. If you can do that, you'll make it through without a hitch! It's the guys who go in and think the D.I.'s really hate them that crack under the pressure and drop out. Good Luck with it. Maybe the next time I'm out in Texas for work (March I believe), I'll try and swing by the DZ for a jump or two and a beer? Blue ones. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  5. I kind of know how you feel... I had to sell my rig in November cause of a little personal emergency. Anyway, I'm getting the money together right now for a new one and it sucks! I'm just living off of the absolute bare minimum ( I mean it.), I'm selling most of my other hobbie related equipment/toys (snowboard, entertainment stuff, etc...) and then I'm adding the 1200 I'm getting back for taxes to put some icing on the cake! It's been a rough couple months, but that first jump on the new rig will be that much sweeter cause of the work I had to put into getting it! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  6. Sorry if it sounded like I was pointing fingers and asking you to get on the stand for cross examination. It was more like a "bull shit" amongst a couple of drinkin buddies who were telling stories. If you say it's the turth, then I believe you. I have no reason not to... If you've worked that hard (and believe me when I say I know how difficult it is to stay in the gym for 2 years), then congrats my friend. That's one hell of an accomplishment. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  7. So you started at (we'll say 230 for arguements sake) 230, lost 40 lbs (down to 190 and lean I'm sure) and then back up to 240 with muscles??? You gained 50 lbs of muscle??? Okay, I'm going to have to call B.S. here... :) At 240 with 13%, you'd be a big muscular mo fo! I'm talking at least 20" guns (probably more like 21 or 22), well over a 50" chest and so on... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  8. Not bad... Kudos on throwing deadlift in there. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  9. Yeah, you can get a waiver for weight, but you'd take some heat in boot camp for being...eh...um..."thicker" I guess you'd say. I did see some seriously fat dudes come in way out of shape and leave pretty lean. As a matter of fact, one dude lost like 35 or 40 lbs in three months! He slimmed down so much that his parents were crying at our graduation out of pride. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  10. If I had to do it again, the Marines! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  11. I hate to do this (cause it sounds like a pissing match), but you keep commenting on things I enjoy so I can't help it... No beef K, just making conversation. So give me some of your numbers? Bench, squat, whatever... What's like a 4 rep max weight on each one of those for you? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  12. 240??? I saw your pic about a week back on another thread here... You didn't look tiny, but 240 is seriously a lot of meat to pack on a frame of 6'1" and I remember you saying you were like 13% as well... That would make you very muscular at 240... Hmm... I could be wrong, but I trained for about a year (24 hour fitness) on the weekends while I was in and developed a pretty decent eye for stuff like that... In any case, you're right, 240 pounds would be a lot to move over three miles. You know you're going to have to get down below 220 before they'll let you in right? To give you a visual rep: Ray Lewis, linebacker for Baltimore, is 6'1" and weighs around 250. That man is huge! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  13. Dude, just push yourself with your training... I know it sounds cliche' like, but running is seriously 90% mental... And that's what being a successful Marine is all about: Being mentally tough... I'm sure you'll do fine. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  14. A bigger guy eh? What does that have to do with it? At the time I was 6'1 and weighed 215... Not huge by any means, but definitely not small... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  15. Since we're posting our PFT results, I recieved honors at grad for company high PFT (356), and subsequently never received below a 300 during my entire enlistment... I know what you're thinking (the score tops out at 300, a 360 is impossible) UNLESS you're competing for that high pft in bootcamp. Then they do an "actual" score based on your actual results. 16:50 on the run, 128 crunches, and 27 dead hangs... just for the record. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  16. Hey AggieDave, if you're going to refer to U.S.M.C. accomplishments and awards, please do so with the appropriate respect. We do not call it an "EGA", it is properly referred to as an "Eagle Globe and Anchor". Abbreviating it is an incorrect form of expression, and therefore, disrespect. I'm sure it wasn't intended, but if you'd have done that in front of any real Marines, they would've had your head! At least they should've anyway. Oh, and good luck with your efforts on getting that 300! Once you get it you better never settle for anything less!!! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  17. I saw the footage... Which one were you? Honestly, and it may just be my retardation, it sure looked like those tandem instructors were trying to swoop the tandem canopies...! Well, as much as you can swoop a 350 square foot anything anyways... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  18. On a side note - U2's song, "Beautiful Day" is an awesome tune to put a skydive to! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  19. I was a 4066. Small computer system specialist and was attached to a comm squadron with a data comm platoon. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  20. Yes, it's true, but I don't know the extent of which the rule can be extended. When I was in I exceeded the limit by 4 lbs (6'1" and 217) and I had a buddy who was 6'0" and weighed 224... We both had to go before a board comprised of our local chain (squadron C.O., X.O., and are group X.O.) and they waived the limit. However, we had to be weighed and have our body fat tested every 60 days to ensure that it didn't get out of hand. Most 1st Sgt's will usually make that call informally (if they're cool) and just let it ride unless other people start making a stink... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  21. I've had a REAL kiss from Jumpin Kay, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it! Isn't that right J.K.A.?!!!! Well, isn't it? Come on, just humor me on this one... please... I'll pay...:) "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  22. Okay, I was only a little constipated when they took the picture! :) "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  23. AggieDave, I spent four years in the Marines and I never noticed the weight requirements to be all that strict... Either, you've got some serious muscle mass and are short, or you've got some serious mass (a little on the fatter side) and are a midget... What's your height/weight? I'll check the chart right now... Oh, I just found a pic of you on another thread... You look to be about 6'1" ish and around 200 or so??? At 6'1" the max weight is 213, but you can apply for an extension and go before a board for review. If it's muscle weight and you wear it well, they'll give you a break in a heartbeat... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  24. I don't get it? What are you associating brute strength to? Yourself? Yeah, I just re-read your post and the only thing that makes sense is that you were trying to say you were super strong or something like that? Is that correct? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  25. Let's go tomorrow! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
