  1. Can someone please help me? I'm sitting at work dying to see that video of the reserve save in this months edition of Parachutist... You know, the one where the have the letter written from another satisfied customer talking about their reserve ride... It's near the back.. .Anyway, this month the skydiver gives a web address and I wanted to look it up here at work since I'm going to be here for a while! Can anyone tell me what the address is? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  2. I'm not going to name any names here, but everytime an opportunity arrises to mention anything about physical appearance, I know of one person on this forum, inparticular, that just loves telling people how tall/how much HE weighs...! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  3. 124... I'd like to be at 2000, but I'm not... :) 124 x 18 dollars per jump equals : $2, 232.00 3,000 for my brand new rig and 1,600 for my first one equals : 4,600.00 bringing my total to : $8,832.00 post aff. If you add that in there : 1,231.00 my total goes up to : $10,063.00 ! Then, just for accuracy you've got to add in the 6 tandem skydives I purchased for friends and family during the first year trying to get everyone to try it for a grand total of : $10, 957.00 !!! I made my first skydive on March 5th of 2000 so in a year and a half I spent almost 11,000 dollars!!! Holy crap! Maybe I should just try and forget about that!!! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  4. JKA, that's only cause you're usually trying to recover from the previous nights drinking!!! j/j. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  5. Hey sis... I know it's a different canopy, but I'm sure you'll agree that the old sabre (mine is the old model but is essentially brand new 100 jumps) ranks up there at the top for hard openings! Anyway, I tried everything with no luck... I had 4 other skydivers try their pack jobs and let them jump my rig and they all got whacked too! I was just about ready to give up on the thing when someone told me to try a pocketed slider... It worked like a charm! Sometimes I can't even tell the damn thing opened!!! It's a pretty long snivel, but I seem to have complete control depending on nose placement and such... Either way, it sure beats leaving the DZ sore as all hell... Check it out before you trade her in... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  6. Wow! Congrats on setting the example for how to work together, follow the pilots instructions, and get everyone home safe!!! I think, for the first time in skydiving history, we all owe you beer for Your "first" almost prison landing... Ah crap, if that's true, we also owe you beer for that being the first time in skydiving history that we'd owe someone else beer... Can we just pretend I never said anything??? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  7. Well, you're not going to be anywhere near my place, but my door is always open anyway! That's what (skydive) friends are for... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  8. What kind of switches are they? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  9. Fine work people, you've all made very valid points in this discussion. However, I personally, am all about pro-choice... Just as we should all have our own opinions, we should all be afforded an opportunity to make our own decisions as well. Please don't mis-interpret this as some half-cocked, shooting off at the mouth comment, but I believe that should you ask any one of those people (God rest their souls) who made the decsion to jump out of the building from above the wreckage ,because they had no other choice, if they would've taken their chances with an emergency parachute...well, I believe we all know the answer to that one... Hell, while you're at it, ask anyone who watched/survived the incident if they would've minded, in the least bit, if those same people attempted to save themselves by using a parachute even if it did represent a risk... I assure you that I do have some common sense and am by no means advocating a bunch of unnecessary deaths, but I'll be damned for eternity before I let someone tell me, "Sorry sir, we're not going to allow you to attempt survival cause it's too dangerous...try the stairway...". That's no one's decision but the individual... I know you'd all like to think that everyone in our sport is the safest of individuals and that we all go to great lengths to further our knowledge for the sake of safety and such, but that simply is not true... So in that respect, we could say that maybe it's not such a good idea to allow us to do what we do??? But, we don't... We leave it up to the individual and say that he/she skydives or base jumps at their own risk... That's exactly my point... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  10. Call em like you see em huh? :) I'd say more like...call em IF you can see em :) !!! Sunday was amazing! This girl is pretty cool. We went to Javier's in Laguna over looking the beach and then saw a movie... Very nice. It's still a little early, but my preliminary hunch is that we may have a winner folks! I'll keep ya posted. Did you end up getting any more jumps in after I left? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  11. JKA- Take it back! I saw the whole thing... :) I, for one, had an outstanding time at the boogie... Thanks to albatross for the hookup! All I have to say is that for all of you who didn't make it out, you missed a hell of a party on Saturday!!! The ladies were out in full force and looking good... Hey, I've got an idea: What about a repeat performance (just for practice of course) say...next weekend? Next year just seems so far away!!! :( "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  12. Yeah, he said he made one Saturday morning...so you guys must have just missed each other... I'm so jealous cause I've wanted to do one for so long now!!! So they're going to auction of guys at the boogie eh? That should be entertaining... I feel sorry for the guy you get! :) See ya this weekend... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  13. So not fair! Did you jump with Grasshopper? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  14. I've been saving up for a few weeks now and making sure my schedule is clear in preperation for what's promising to be the year's best boogie!!! So the only question left to ask is: "Who's coming with me? Who's coming with me...,besides flipper here?" -Jerry McGuire... Yeah! Skydiving Chick's Rock! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  15. That's right!!! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  16. Pam, Hey I want one of your necklaces! I'm not near my e-mail at the moment so I cannot write you any other way but this... Would you mind contacting me so we can set something up? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  17. First of all: Skydiving was grounded for two 11 of those days. B: You were gone for a week prior to that weekend...I was there! 3: Well, I don't have a third but you can bet your ass it would've been a good one! I've got some friends visiting this weekend, but I think we're coming out anyway... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  18. Whatever Lara...like the brades make a difference... You're hot and you know it... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  19. Rock on!!! Hopefully I don't have to be called to service, but if I do... I hope God is feeling merceful for Bin Laden's ass! Cause I sure won't be!!! Still have two more years on inactive reserve status... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

  21. It's good to hear that there are a couple decent sabres out there without performing the special feats some of us have to to avoid bruises and such. Merrick... Yeah, I never had but one or two rough ones on that canopy either, but it was also 600 jumps into it's life and a little larger in size... In any case, I'm glad that it isn't abusing you...I'd feel partially responsible :) As for me, I must have baught the evil step brother canopy cause it sure did beat me like a bit_h! Just be ready for a long snivel with that tandem slider... Mine are consistently at just under a grand..., but could be much longer if I simply go back to rolling the nose a bit and the tail... :) It's almost a peacful fealing to look up at four seperate line groups and a fully inflated slider and still be near terminal!!! "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  22. I'm with playmate on this one! I just now started to really get into jumping and having to stop at this point could screw up all my momentum! Besides what other excuse am I going to use to see her run around naked :) .... only kidding marissa... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  23. Alright, this post is for all those Sabre owners out there who come home from the DZ each weekend with bruises... I've read, more times than I can count, about the infamous "Sabre" opening and fell victim to the same with my new rig! Well, I'm here to tell you that it can be fixed... After trying everything out there from; packing 'secrets' from the pros - to - body position I was just about to give up... Then I ran across an article from Gary ...(I forget his last name) about oversized sliders which got me thinking . So I went down to my local rigger and we talked it over for a bit. Solution : a pocket on my slider running across the nose of the slider and extending the entire length. Got her all stitched up and took out for a test run. Woo Hoo! Holy crap, a 1200' opening!!! (no joke) It had to be a dream I thought. So I packed her up again (this time I didn't touch the nose)... and once again, a sweet opening that came in just under a 1000'!!! I've toy'd with the position of the slider and nose just a bit, but this setup seemed to work consistently. I've put 5 jumps on it so far and every one is the same. Now, I'm not saying this is for everyone, but it's exactly what I was looking for. I'm sure you can play around a bit with the size of the pocket and such to fine tune it some more, but for me it's good. The only drawback to this whole thing is I have to start my deployment a bit higher now... Hope this helps... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  24. It sounds like we're just about there... But, I've got a question for all you pilot types: Forgive me if it sounds ignorant...I'm just curious as to how this stuff works: If the IFR's are allowed again under the stipulation that they file a specific flight plan...Why can't a jump pilot file a flight plan outlining his intent to climb to altitude and then return to the same airport? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
  25. no way....! I don't believe you... You're serious? This is a true story? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
