I don't know about you guys, but I did the 4 tandem progression and then straight into aff 4a... Anyway, the hardest one for me to get past was the 6 I think.( the first one with flips) It just bothered me a bit that after finally figuring out how to stay stable, they wanted me to make myself unstable and then fix it...However, I must say, as soon as I did it I was so pumped...! It turned out to be all in my head. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

Alright, since last October I'd been tormented with all of the awesome jump stories everyone else on this site got to tell... Finally, after some 4 and a half months the weather and the rig were in the same place at the same time. (I sold my rig this winter...needed the money, and just got my new one two weeks ago) .You see in Oregon we don't get many days where the DZ is open, your reserve is in date, you've got money for jump tickets, and the weather is nice enough all that often. So anyway, I finally got to take my new Sabre out. I was tripping out pretty bad before I got to the door man. I've never had so many morbid thoughts go through my head at once! Well, everything went fine and I'm now officially back!!! Just wanted to share that little tidbit, thanks for listening. Oh, and it's my b-day, so happy 24th to me!!! "pull high! I wonder if you could do something like that off of a nice high rolling hill somewhere? Although, if you had the time to go experiment around with something like that, you've probably got the time to make a skydive... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

I know the principal behind this correction is to Relax, but try to understand it under different terms: just lie down on the Relative Wind like you would a nice comfortable down comforter. "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

That's hilarious! Listen, I travel a lot for my job and no matter where my work takes me (local dropzone or not) I alway take my rig. I've convinced myself that regardless of what those ladies in the uniforms tell me, I can rip one of those over the wing exits off and throw myself to safety...! A free ride to altitude??? I know I could've just read the profile listings, but I wanted to make my first official post as a "legitimate" enthusiast! So, anyone from Oregon, Washington, or Cali? I'm moving to SoCal the end of this month and thought maybe I could line up a few jumping buddies before I get there... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

That's really cool about the different training levels necessary to freefly. I may be wrong, but I haven't heard of any such requirements here in the states... If there aren't, there should be. I think that's an awesome way to approach it while still allowing the jumper to decide... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

I personally think the nature of this sport dictates a "near death" experience. Every time we jump we put ourselves in a situation where any shortcoming or mistakes and we could potentially lose our lives...I know it's a morbid topic, but it's reality. However, the trade off is this: A person never feels more alive in their life, then when they're close to death. Think about that... Anyway, aside from all that, this sport has advanced to the point where it's relatively safe and with the right training these risks can be minimized to the point where the balance between risk and safety is such that we can have fun doing it...Aren't we the luckiest bunch 'o people in the world?! Ok guys I need some help: It's been over 5 months since my last skydive and am finally getting up again this weekend. Aside from the safety stuff (already hammered home), what helps take away that doubt that builds up after a long layoff? Has anyone ever gone this long before? If so, what did you do to stay focused and still be able to have fun? "pull high! It's lower than you think..."

Demo one. The best way is to figure it out for yourself. It's like working out; different things work for different people... "pull high! It's lower than you think..."
