If you can, try to get a hold of a Heatwave from someone at your DZ to practice with. All the line groups are different colors, so that should help you out with that problem. I know there are other canopies like this, but the Heatwave is the only one I know by name, and we have one at our DZ that I use when I can when teaching others how to pack. Hope this helps.

Was this in part spurned by dinner Saturday night? Nummy.

It says "I heard you are a really awesome bowler, and I need someone for my team. Are you interested?" hehe Cabana Boy what's up?

Have you ever gone low unintentionally?
EvilSteve replied to jerry81's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yup. One time I was borrowing a friend's altimeter and he didn't mention that it would read about 500 feet high right around pull time. Then I went about 500 feet low according to the altimeter, adding up to a cool 1000 feet low and getting grounded for the day for pulling at 2000' with an A license. D'oh! -
I'll be there. Probably PilotMike too, unless he's going to Kansas

One of my friends was going through Marine OCS in Quantico, so I figured I'd send him a "care package," since he had given us an address and asked us to write him. I got a gay porno, wrote a tender, tender letter about how much I missed him and couldn't wait to see him again, signed it "Bruce," put it in a big manilla envelope with hearts and XXOO and "I miss you soooo much" written all over it. I also put a little note in there saying that it was a joke and he had no idea I was going to do this, just in case he got in actual trouble. Naturally, I figured with the buckets of machismo going around, he'd have an "interesting" stay.... It turns out that if you are in Marine OCS and get anything bigger than a regular letter, you have to get it in front of a Sergeant or something. Fortunately for my friend (and me, cuz he'd have killed me), the normal Sergeant was sick, and the mail came in and got put on a desk. The replacement guy took a look at it, but decided to go to the bathroom before handing out the irregular mail. My friend swiped it, took a quick glance, and hid it. He had to sneak out in the middle of the night so they wouldn't find it in his trash or anywhere else. I don't really talk to him much any more.....

Not if I have anything to say about it!

Have you ever made a fool of yourself at a new D.Z.??
EvilSteve replied to steve1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You know, I can't really think of a time when I've completely made a jackass out of myself (skydiving). So, you all know what that means: I'm the one to watch, because it's coming..... [hands out cameras for the inevitable] -
I'm not getting on a plane with you today!
-
I wear mine until I feel comfortable that I could clamber out of a spinning plane. If I'm in the back, it's a bit higher than if I am right next to the door. Always at least 1500.

Wie geht's Mark! When I was in Germany I jumped with Skydive Nuggets in Leutkirsch. They had an otter when I was there. They are USPA affiliated, and I had a good time there. They are in Southern Germany, not too far from Switzerland, 120km SW of Munich. You can see the Alps at altitude! If you decide to go, snag me a bumper sticker and bring it to AOT! www.skydive-nuggets.de Not sure how to make it clicky.

what is the song/band that irritates you most ?
EvilSteve replied to PhoenixFire's topic in The Bonfire
J.Lo, Mariah, Madonna, Creed, Janis Joplin and most definitely Bob Dylan. I don't like rap either, but since I have only one station preset on my radio, it's not an issue. -
BA in International Studies $$ from packing and selling plasma.

FUNNY INCIDENTS IN FREEFALL.
EvilSteve replied to stilettodude's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not much freefall involved, but for my 100th I was going to do a naked hop&pop. A certain pilot was supposed to take the spot WAAAAAAY out so that when I looked out, I would see that I had to go all the way up (I was doing a h&p to avoid excess "flappage"). Well, at about 5 grand the pilot tells me to have a look, and since his spots are usually right on, I don't give it a second thought. Lucky for me the winds were at about 40-45, since I was about two miles away. Made it back (with a 10 second delay, too) with 2000' to spare. Not necessarily funny, but it was supposed to be.... Note:The winds between 6000' and 3000' were that high. On the ground they were much lower. -
pack yourself or getting packed
EvilSteve replied to feuergnom's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
How about a voting option for "Pack for myself and anyone else I can get to give me $5." Heh. I used packers when I didn't know how to pack, but as soon as I learned, I stopped.
