    Thailand

Hi I'm going to be in Thailand from Sat 25th Sept for 2 weeks. If any locals fancy hooking up for some jumps or can let me have any info gimmie a shout Thanks Neil
  2. I'm not disagreeing, but I seem to remember that someone who was doing this at Petronas last year had a line over that cleared (was filmed by Anne) so it may not be the "answer" Neil
  3. I unfortunately only made a slack handful of jumps with Duane He really was one of the good guys, he will be greatly missed My deepest sympathy to his wife and family Fly free
  4. I'm not sure what the exact number was but at Petronas last year several hundred jumps were made in that region (3-5 secs) slider up, without any major dramas. I have done and watched plenty of 4-ish second delays slider up with no major dramas (our regular power tower @ 600ft) I guess it all depends on object specifics and how you feel about it... Stay safe Neil
  5. You don't have to spend anywhere near that my friend, For just 110 of your US dollars you can fast track and experience all the fun of BASE jumping here! http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1174463;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Remember to get on the sunbed first so you don't look so pasty in hospital

    Canopy Coloring...

I have a black/olive green FOX (UGT) and a multi coloured FOX, can't say I've noticed any difference, tbh the harder the better

    Quote of the Week

Received this recently: Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting - "fcuk me what a ride!"
  9. I thought this was fairly well documented. My understanding of this was the 105/TRV33 etc have a magnetic zoom which can be "overpowered" by opening shock, I've seen it plenty of times on footage from these cameras. I bought a trv33 and then sold it un-used for this reason! If you turn the camera off and tilt it back and forward and look into the lens you will see the the internal lens sliding back and forth. The pc9 and the new pc330 doesn't do this hence no blur, I just wondered what kind of zoom the Panasonic had. I only BASE jump now so the opening shock maybe a little more brutal than skydiving openings... Neil
  10. Is anyone using one of these? What's the verdict? It looks nice and compact, with 3ccd quality I was wondering if it does the split second blur thing on opening shock that the PC105/TRV range are prone too? Thx Neil

    Panasonic GS120

Is anyone using one of these for BASE? What's the verdict? It looks nice and compact, with 3ccd quality (yes I know it's not Sony ) I was wondering if it does the split second blur thing on opening shock that the PC105/TRV range are prone too? Thx Neil

    ????Ostankino

I've logged it as a tower, as in Ostankino TV Tower. Failing that you could just log it as a "Fcuking Cool Object" Stay safe Neil

    38" pc

Jules The floating handle worked fine for me, bit odd to start with but you get used to it. It was Space that put me on to it a while back. Now use the mushritto so don't bother with a handle anymore Stay safe

    38" pc

I used wiffle balls/practice golf balls and they worked fine for the 100 or so jumps I did with them, found the canister a little more awkward to orientate, but that's just me Stay safe Neil

    ankle protection

There is a company in the UK that does both Hanwag and Crispi, Can't comment on their service as I haven't used them http://www.skysystems.co.uk/boots.htm
  16. I think free climbers are totally hatstand personally

    Ostankino ticker

I thought it was the "Dominatrix tour" I had no end of trouble persuading the missus to let me go on this one!! Can't wait either, I'm sure we'll drink enough vodka to see all sorts of marine mammals mate Nosdravi Neil-the no catchy title-bloke
  18. Welcome home fella Got a cheeky one in last nite so it's not all bad... I'd agree with skin here, I think that the valves speed up the time it takes for the canopy to "fly" but don't think they increase bottom skin inflation time any. I haven't noticed my vtec/valved Fox opening any higher than a buddy of mine who jumps an Ace. However this has only been across a 100 jumps or so Stay safe Neil

    Ostankino ticker

Hey Yuri Do you know if the new Ostankino dates (26th June to 4th July) are confirmed now? Thanks Neil
  21. I've posted no. I had 2 pack jobs done for me in Malaysia when jumping the this/last year. I had to open the first one as the container had been closed incorrectly and found a less than good pack job. I had to tidy it before jumping. I had an off heading opening but due to overhang wasn't bothered. However on second one we got winded. The next day we were jumping back at Petronas and due to me being a lazy SOB I didn't repack it tho I did open it and tidy it again. The video shows a good stable deployment position thru out. I got slammed and then had 2 full line twists whilst heading towards the building next door. I managed to steer away and kick out twists and was all ok after. I guess the moral, for me anyway, is don't be a lazy bastard and I would never take a packer in BASE again My £0.02 YMMV Stay safe Neil
  22. Hey Gazza Have I misunderstood? Are you running both the PC101 and the b/c off the same battery? What kind of connector are you using to tap into the Sony battery? Do you have a "special board" to convert to 12volts? Thanks Neil

    Unvented s/l-ing

Hi Is anyone s/l-ing in the 130-140ft region with a Mojo? Canopy is a 240, wingloading of approx 0.8. If so any comments would be greatly appreciated I am posting this for a jump buddy who doesn't have web access Thanks Stay safe Neil
