Thanks for posting this, Jack... I only knew Bob for a few months before he left us, but have fond memories of both skydives and green light activities... attached is my favorite pic of Bob, also taken in Perris. Best - Gus Provost

opening characteristics - mainly the forgiveness of the canopy durning deployment with a poor body position. ---------------------------------------------------------- I agree... I got rid of my occasionally hard opening and erratic Sabre 190 and went to a Spectre 190.. nice, soft, onheading openings, even when I haven't bled off much forward speed... at the end of a w/s jump, the last things I want to be concerned with is canopy performance... just get me softly to the ground.

I bought my S-Fly because Loic was at Perris, and he took the time to make 4 flights with me to make sure I knew how to fly... in hindsight, THAT was worth more than the price of the suit.

Sorry for the wrong info.. guess I had a little bit of drain bamage at the end of a long day.. I meant to say the S-Fly Expert, which is the name of the one piece suit you have seen... which, by the way, really rocks! -Gus

Good call.. I fly an S-Fly Access (the real wing suit, not the funny one with hand grips... Anyway, collapse the wings, bend the knees a bit, count to two, and deploy.. same as a regular belly down deployment. That said, for the more performance oriented flyers who pull lower, cutouts are the way to go. -Gus

I had the leg wing closed and both arms in when I pulled the reserve handle.. I was in a somewhat head up position, and had a very smooth opening.

Nothing to do with the wingsuit, just a rushed pack job that I did late Thursday night before leaving the DZ. Yes, I took care of the EP's first, then once under a good reserve took care of the wingsuit. I didn't need to use the arm cutaway, but could have reached it easily enough if it was necessary. To answer a previous question, yes, I could have had my reserve repacked on Saturday, but preferred to wait and have my regular rigger take care of it when he had time, which was last night. I confess that I am hooked on this already.. only eight days and counting until my suit arrives! -Gus

I recently posted that I did my first wingsuit jumps on Thursday at Perris using an S Fly.. decided to go back out Saturday for more, and did a 4-way with Loic and two other experienced flyers.. after an uneventful jump, I threw out @ 4k ft, and knew immediately I had garbage.. total lineovers on the left side that threw me into a hard spiral.. got to my handles after two turns around, chopped, took a few seconds to get stable, then was under my reserve @ just under 2300 ft. Not much drama, but it was an interesting experience.. no problems working my EP's with the suit, which was something of a relief.. worst part was that is my first jump of the day.. long ride home for only one jump! -Gus

I ordered the S Fly Expert... I looked at the Access but didn't fly it... Loic said he has a good supply of suits in stock, so it will only be about 10 days until it arrives... can't wait!

What a rush.. did my first wingsuit jumps today at Perris on an S-Fly... first two were with Loic, the last a solo... incredible... it was all I anticipated and more.. yes, I ordered a new wingsuit at the end of the day.. can't wait for more!

Very cool... I went out to do ONE jump for my 45th birthday in '01, and now 250+ jumps later, think I'll hang around for awhile. The kids are grown and on their own, no other family obligations to contend with... what better way is there to spend my retirement money??... unless, of course, the surf is up and the sun is out...:)
