  1. Thanks for the reply Tigra,Its always fun and exciting to reestablish contact with old friends and aquaintances.I've been through SDC 3-4 times now and always had a blast, next time I'm passing through I'll have to ask around to see if you and any other DZ.COM'rs are around not to mention Ralph. As for my leg...well the break is healing but I have some soft tissue damage that is causing problems but should heal one way or another....

  5. Anyone know a Ralph Chapman D-13675? Ralph was one of my instructors and a friend,I would like to thank him for helping me find my wings and participate in this awesome sport and would like to get the chance to jump with him in the future. If anyone knows him please let him know that I would like to contact him,I can be reached here at DZ.com or at cox@shopmadeinusa.com . My full name is John A.Cox and he instructed me at the old "Parachutes over San Diego" DZ in 1994. ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868

  7. Yo Scoby, I've been jumping my Hornet 210 at about 1.2 for 180+ jumps and have tried various packing methods,I've found that giving the nose a good roll and tight stows with atleast 2"inch bites gives me the best opening out the methods I've tried.Gives me an average 600/800' soft sniveling opening. The Hornet is the BEST canopy for your $$MONEY$$ in my opinion on the market today, whether its swooping or deep brakes this canopy performs very well.I've demo'd the Sabre2 and the Lotus, both are quality canopies but for all around performance and price get the Hornet.
  8. I think the best way I've heard of so far is to do a comedy along the lines of "Caddyshack", Caddyshack did alot in the way of getting more people out on the greens trying golf for the first time. This could be done tastefully without drug smuggling/abuse or overdone sex/violence. Now don't get me wrong, let the beer flow after jumping, lets chase some skirts and have some serious team rivalry but lets break this stereotype Hollywood is molding around us. 9. I purchased the Velocity as a all-around skydiving helmet and have been very pleased with it in both RW and FF.Its fit is really good and you mismatch some liners if your head is wierd like mine LOL.The forehead protection and the peripheal vision are excellent, the rigidty of its construction makes it very durable and comfortable. The internal audible pocket is large and well placed,I've never had a problem hearing my Protrack even when set on low volume (this seems to be a big issue with other helmets, not so here!)The few cons I've found are very minor, the adhesive on the velcro giving access to the audible pocket couldn't take the heavy use particuarly on hot days and had to be tacked down, the plastic edge on the back of the neck started to come loose and a drop of adhesive fixed that. Minor stuff! I've been using this helmet for 1.5+ years now and find it to be a excellent value for the money with its fit, durability and versatility
  10. I'll post photos after i expand my collection at my 1st follow up visit with the rigger for my inspection and repack(surgeon, checkup and new cast)hahahahaha I probably won't be able to post xrays,I brought copies from CA and the surgeon was bitching about the quality I prayed that he wouldn't have them redone ChileRelleno-Rodriguez Bro#414 Hellfish#511,MuffBro#3532,AnvilBro#9, D24868
  11. I the great Chile Relleno crashed and burned while enjoying the blue skies in Davis,CA at Skydance Skydiving this last saturday 08/24... There I was swooping into the landing area,it looked good and felt good so I went for it! ALAS I had failed to properly inspect my landing area before jumping at this new playground. The area I'd chosen looked like a nice gravel surface to surf in on but was in fact deep pea gravel and my right foot dug in on touchdown while the rest of me kept going!!! Result, spiral fracture of both the tibia and fibula, yes both of them!.I knew what was happening to me as it was happening (really weird feeling)I tumbled to a stop, confirmed what I already knew and let everyone within a country mile know that I was hurt. The DZ staff was great providing first aid and transportation to and from the Hospital in Davis and in gathering a few belongings out of my truck and getting me on the the next flight home to Mobile,AL.
  12. OK,my concerns are easing up as we babble, reply from Ryan Gifford of Trident H/C says that neither them nor Fliteline has e ver offered a secondary mod due to the fact that there has never been shown a proven need them. States pretty much the same as Quade(thank you) thats its freefly proven and just watch out for worn tucktabs. thanks for all your input, feeling comfy now,end of thread as far as i'm concerned. 13. I personally haven't had a problem as of yet but i have seen others with enough riser showing to be a concern,as to whether they were sloppy or had smaller reserves/mains than their H/C was built for may be factors. The point is the concern is in my mind and i'm very safety conscious so i'm asking questions about what seems to me a area of concern. Other manufacturers design with freeflying in mind and they provide secondaries in addition to adequate primaries. so I ask my peers "what do you think?" 14. As i've become more involved with freeflying I'm becoming concerned with the main riser coverage on my Reflex. I was curious if anyone knows of,has seen or has any input on the possibilty of installing a secondary riser cover modification? Chile Relleno. 15. Rhino, you are doing the right thing at the right time which is what will keep you alive and that is what the game is all about! In a area as congested as the WFFC your rate of aborted swoops seems about on par with my own aborted HIPO landings,I don't do ponds because I have a Cypres, but the grass always needs to mowed a little more.I reckon I aborted more than half of my HIPO landings in favor of a more modest landing due to traffic and whatnot. Keep that awareness and you'll never wind up as a incident report. Bye the way nice jumping with you on high altitudeload#1,Sangria and I had fun! BlueskiesBlackdeath Chile Relleno.
