...think it was 54 teams this year? Pretty sure it was over 50. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

I CAN NOT handle this, NS for anyone, Dogs consumed, sign petition.

Surprised no one has pointed out lambs here. As this whole discussion is based on emotional attachment, how many of the "it should be banned" crowd eat lamb? Ever had a pet lamb? Very cute and they are VERY happy to see you. Taste great too.... A man walks into a bar.... he came round again after a couple of minutes. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

I work for TCM and have had the pleasure(?) of seeing The Gypsy Moths "once or twice". I still think some of the skydiving footage is pretty impressive, especially considering the flying skills at the time, and the size of the video/film equipment.... ...and you get to see Debra Kerr's boobies. DON'T DO IT!!!! 813 is very very (very) dangerous - he has only recently rejoined the human race on a technicality. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

Difference between a seagul and a baby? One flits across the shore............... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

So this guy walks up to my car and says: 'Can I have a lift?' So I said: 'Sure; you look great, its a beautiful day.... the world is your oyster, go for it!' So I went out to buy some camouflage trousers the other day. Couldn't find any. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

SSHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

....and now I realise that you only had five options , but the top five I've listed I think is probably about right (although never jumped at Chatteris) "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." Can't edit your poll, so you will have to start a new one..... In no particular order, other then the ones in the top half generally have the better lift capacity: 1. Langar (nr Nottingham) 2. Netheravon (nr Salisbury) 3. Weston (nr Oxford) 4. Hibalstow (nr Lincoln) 5. Sibson (nr Peterborough) 6. Headcorn (nr Maidstone) 7. Chatteris (nr Cambridge) 8. Hinton (nr Oxford) There are others, but they are smaller Cessna operations. Remember, all DZs have there own local culture and regulars who will always say their DZ is the best.... For maximum jumping with minimum hassle, I think Weston has to be the recommendation within relatively easy distance from London. Yeah, like THATS going to happen. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

At last, a picture of 813 that makes him look handsome. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

No flaming necessary - it's the facts.... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

My experience says: don't do it. But I'm sure there others here who like the place. Slow turn around, lots of ATC problems (on a major flight path). Only been there a couple of times (outside of competitions) but wasn't entirely impressed. In your own words, how would you describe your orgasm ?

The best feeling I can have on my own! Oops... um... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent -
Yeah, sorry I missed that - thanks Remster. I can't recommend Hibalstow - although an excellent DZ with competitive jumps prices, 15K on most lifts, good facilities (well, ish) etc, Skreamer is known to go there on occasion. Just too much risk involved, when all is considered.... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." How many jumps have you made without a malfunction?

I'm pretty sure that if you are jumping at a BPA affiliated DZ (and I can't think of any UK ones that aren't), you have to be at least a temporary member of the BPA. I think that your USPA insurance would cover you over here, but the BPA have their own special rules.... DZs I would recommend: Weston, Netheravon, Sibson (Peterborough) - all less then 2 hrs from London. Langar and Hibalstow are also worth a visit, but are a little further away. Its been mentioned before, but its always worth repeating...... its bloody FREEZING here in the Winter. Given the dates you are over here, Empuriabrava is defintely worth considering. ...two with Penelope Pitstop - "Wacky Races" and "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop". And I know this because I work for Cartoon Network - not because I'm THAT sad (didn't even have a TV as a kid....) What the heck kinda exit is that?????
evilivan replied to jumper03's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sounds like a clusterphuck exit - good for fun, bad for handles..... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent -
Bit like skydiver of the year, just more politically correct.... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

Solly from Majik has a left hand throw out - I think he decided to give his other shoulder RSI after 10,000 jumps... Steve Blincoe also jumps LH throwout, I believe as a result of a skiing injury. I jumped Solly's rig; feels very, very weird throwing out with the left hand. Even being very aware it was the other side, I kept checking for the hackey in the plane, and finding nothing there. Amazing thing, muscle memory.... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

Possibly this: an instructor had been dispatching static-line students all day, and lobbing out after them. He thought he had done his last load and didn't bother packing, but another load came up. He goes up without his rig, dispatches the students.... and lobs out. Story goes he did a full series on the way in. Not sure if its true though...
