Well there is some validity in the jump number system. Thankfully with advents such as the tunnel, flying skills have improved rapidly among lower numbered jumpers. But there is something to be said for simply being in freefall and seeing what shit can really go down out there. I can personally tell you that the old jump number system is being phased out, but is necessary for various accounts such as canopy loading etc. Hang in there, and the best thing to do is what I did. Just go out and prove how good you are to those telling you you can’t do it. Nothing like humble pie in their face!!

HA, never though college could get more expensive, try grad school. Here's what I do. Order the book from Amazon.com take good care of it then return it. Their return policy is so great that they will take them back and even pay for return postage. I just got so sick and tired of paying $120 for a used book to have them offer my a buck to buy it back at the end of the year, or maybe $5. that's cool, i've done most of my jumps with my father. we started on my 18th birthday and have jumped together since, its the best!!! My mom has done two tandems and even my grandfather for his 76th birthday
