I agree with Bill, I to was raised in a Christian home, attended private Christian high school and college both by my choice. I’ve learned a lot about the different tenets of religions and spiritually and have found that most of the problems one has with organized religion comes from the organization of religion, (or lack there of). Though I disagree with a lot of the rules of organization religion, I still am a spiritual person. The only thing that bothers me is people who give up on God after three “strikes” while a child. Every subject should be explored fully before decisions can be made. And often times the important issues, such as religion, should be re-reviewed through out life. The problem is, though, that Christian theology specifically forbids homosexuality. There's atleast 2 different verses I can think of off the top of my head that specifically deal with that. Yes, also, in Christian theology, all sin is the same in God's eyes, but to recieve grace and be forgiven of your sins, a person has to repent. Which isn't just expressing a desire to be forgiven, but also striving not to repeat that sin. What do I believe? Well, that would take a couple beers and more then an entire evening to discuss...but I know the Christian Bible fairly well, and thats a couple things that I thought of while watching this develop in the news. Actually, the Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. I too know my Christian religion fairly well. I too was very introverted before I started skydiving, there is just something about this sport that brings out the best in everyone. I know that skydiving has taught me to drink and swear . . . but its also taught me that there is a group of accepting people that let you be who you are. I think the all-accepting environment is what makes the DZ seem like home. I’m going on my 7th year in the sport and spend more time with skydivers than family, but in reality skydivers have become my family.
