I guess I was pretty lucky, in the sense that my MS diagnosys was obvious from the start. Luckily, I was diagnosed early, after only a few episodes. The part I hate the most about all of it is that damn dagger over my head. That's why I decided that as long as I could jump, climb, snowboard and do whatever else I do, I would make the best of it!!! I think outlook has everything to do with it, man. However, I have to go for blood tests every month, and I take medication that require me to take a shot three times a week. Those are the moments that make me feel like "i'm sick". It's frustrating sometimes. You say that people treat you differently. You're right. It's happened to me too. I don't hide my condition, but I also don't publicize it if noone asks. Being a recovering addict also, I understand the value of anonimity! I had to tell my mother to stop referring to me as "sick" all the time. I told her that I have a "condition" with an impact on my life, but I'm only "sick" when i go into a relapse, which is not the case right now. Work was a problem for awhile, specially when I took a month off to recover from an episode, but because I really haven't made a big deal out of it, people seem to have "forgotten" and I get to be slammed just as hard with work as the next guy!!!!! I try to keep my "disabled" trump cards for when i really need them... And the fatigue is a pain in the asssssss!!!!!!!!! I would go to the DZ this summer, do one jump, maybe two, and I would have to lie down for three hours. It's better now that I'm on the meds though. I find that Vitamin D helps also for me, but I'm basing my "personnal research" in this particular vitamin field on unsubstantiated medical research. All I can say is hang in there, man. Keep doing what you do, and keep being grateful for it. Progressive conditions suck, because you know that the inevitable is coming at some point, but when that time comes, i want to be able to say that I've done as much of what I wanted to do as I could! Cheers, and keep up the fight! Marz _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?

Yep... I was diagnosed with MS last May. I started a few posts about it in Talk Back. It hasn't stopped me yet, maybe slowed me down a little, but i'm still at it.... Marz _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?

This is one I saw when I was in the university bar restroom: "I fucked your mother" and underneath someone scribbled: "Go home Dad, you're drunk!"

Fire dancing is awesome! I've been fire juggling, fire eating, fire dancing and fire walking for about ten years now. I made a living from it for five of those years. It put me through college. It's a very intense experience. If you're interseted in getting into this, find a teacher you trust and learn the basics of manipulation with practice tools before you set stuff on fire. The key to success is to understand that fire is a powerful element and is very much its own boss. Learn how it behaves in different conditions and obey the limits. believe me, I learned that from experience!!!! When you feel confident enough to use fire, begin with faster burning fuel like lighter fluid. Just remeber that the quicker a fuel burns, the more volatile it is. Take necessary precautions with your fuel container. Anyhow, if you have questions, feel free to PM me. I'll post some cool pics later if you want. I just gotta reduce them... I left an empty can of Pepsi on the coffee table not long ago and my Bearded Collied took a bite out of it. I was amazed when I found the can, and the dog was perfectly fine!!!!!! Marz _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?

LOL that's good! I know you haven't talked to me, mostly because I could never find an inspired response to your posts. I have been rolling my eyes over here though!!!! Have fun in BC and remember not to eat the yellow snow... Marz _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?

WOW!!! That is very, very sad! I am not a regular at Burnaby but when I saw the pics I knew immediately who James was and I recall several conversations with him during my visits. HE always made me feel very welcome. My deepest condolences to his family and close friends.

Quote No doubt....we need video though so we can listen as he screams like a girl. Lord knows I probably would have. Quote I think a video would have been funny indeed! I looked like Harrison ford being dragged behind the truck in Raiders of the Lost Ark. I didn't scream though. It was a very strange sense of calm mixed with the occasionnal burst of "holyshit holyshit holyshit gotta cut! Land you fucking bitch! BIIIIIITCH! God, make it land and I'll never sin again!!!! Land you bitch!!!!" Then it stopped and it took me awhile to realized that I could really have gotten hurt.... Marz _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?

ROTFL! I could have used that today!!!! Funny though, after I got home and rested, all I could think about was doing it again! I mean, I think I figured out what I did wrong, namely that you should NEVER launch a kite that size right up the center of the wind window (ie with the wind straight at your back). I also want to have a good, hard look at that cutaway system before I go back out!!!!
-
Actually, I was flying it with a kite surfing bar and a dead-man cuff around my wrist. The cuff does have a cutaway system but I couldn't reach it...
-
And I should know better than to go out in high winds without having had that practice...
-
1) Take 1-hour kitesurfing lesson 2) Dream of trying kitesurfing on snow 3) Go to Sebastian, meet SkyBytch and buy 35 sq foot Big Air kite on impulse 4) Go to frozen lake and set up kite afer only having flown it once in moderate winds 5) believe that a 1-hour Kitesurfing lesson taught you everything you need to know 6) launch the kite and proceed to be dragged 500 feet on your stomach at 20-miles an hour before you manage to come to a stop Conclusion: along with going over a cliff while snowboarding in Europe and being slammed to the ground in a downdraft under canopy, this definitely had the potential of qulifying as the third scariest moment on my sporting life!!!!! Marz PS. Skybytch - The kite fies great!!!! The pilot, on the other hand needs a little training! _________________________________________ Did I just kill another thread?

I'm a water rat. Sounds like something you'd hear about on the discovery channel.... However, the description is pretty accurate...
-
Yup. That proves it. I am a thread killer. I can take a great thread and turn it into a deep, dark, lonely pit of disaster. The "derogatory names for Skydivers" was the last straw... I guess that's my lot in life....

I think we might have missed some of the more obvious ones: Alcoholic Lush Drunken Retard Week-end trailer trash No offense to anyone... I'm one of you too!!!! Marz

I had one of those ratty red tricycles for awhile, but I really consider my first vehicle to be my Big Wheel cuz chick dug that. I then got a tricked out Schwinn banana-seater for Christmas when I was eight and that was awesome, until those "motocross" bikes came out and then I had to beg for my mom to get me one of those. Then many years later, I got a 1993 Honda Civic. Marz
