  1. Very nice cornsnake. I can't tell from the pic, but is she amel or hypomelanistic? Here is a pic of my amelamistic male, pepper.
  2. I also jump spectres with about the same nomber of jumps on them as you have made. I have had two openings that made me see stars. Both times were due to poor slider position... not tight against the stabilizers, poor wrapping on the tail, front cloverleaf pushed back into the pack or all of the above allowing the slider to drop too soon.
  3. Study the landing area and expected traffic patterns, hazards, etc. Learn where the safe "outs' are. Know if the dz you are visiting has unique weather (think dust devils) know the altitude at the new LZ... is it higher than you are used to? lower? the same? Be sure your reserve is up to date
  4. Wow... I have done the exact same thing before. Also.. many years ago my girlfriend at the time asked me one morning why I had left the house buck naked in the middle of the night. I told her she must have dreamed it. She then pointed to the sheets at the foot of the bed... covered in grass and mud, as were my feet also. I had no recollection of where I had gone.
  5. I thought this one worthy of a thread bump. Anyone that can make it out to Perris sunday the 10th please come and show your support for a fellow skydiver. She, He?

Is this a case of "She said, He said"??
  8. It is just a very large ball, most likely female. Meet Mona, my female at 3 yrs old.
  9. A Ball Python to be exact, and by the size it was a well cared for pet that escaped. It probably crawled under the hood looking for warmth. I have a pair of these very docile snakes.
  10. The Days Inn is closest and does not completely suck. Be warned the beds are hard, but it is better than sleeping in a tent. Plus, they offer weak coffee and stale bagels as a continental breakfast
  11. The sensory overload is much less severe with a Tandem jump than with AFF. If I had it to do over again, I would have chosen Tandem as my first jump. Besides, the Tandem jumps are the "bread and butter" of the dz. If it helps keep the dz open I am for it, so I vote no, Tandem is not hurting the sport.

  13. I have owned two spectres and swear by them. True, the openings can be snivelly, but with a litle practice you can "tune" the snivel length with slider position and number of wraps on the tail.
  14. Has anyone managed to "club" more than 3 at a time yet? 3 sems to be my limit.
  15. Soooooo........ just why is it that they call you "boinky"?
  16. Your choice of sick, demented folks, I suppose. I am personally looking for my own adventurous soul to make a memory with. You work in an auto dealer.... there should be no shortage of willing and able partners
  17. Maybe she knew you are a skydiver, and she was trying to make you feel as if you were on jump run? (I can't believe no one else hopped on that !)
  18. You're lucky my fat a$$ wasm't on your load
  19. The alouette gave us 4000ft agl
  20. I believe you missed my point. I believe that if Skydiving became a "mainstream" sport it would not change for the better. I did not say "newies" would cause more fatalities. I implied that if Skydiving had mainstream appeal it might attract people that are not willing to take proper responsibility for the risks involved. If I am maimed or killed participating in this sport, it is because I chose to participate. The sport we love would not benefit from people entering that are not willing to assume proper responsibility for the consequences of jumping out of aircraft. True, it would be nice to see the talent in this sport to get the props they well deserve, but at what cost?
  21. Amen to that! Mainstream=Yahoos radically changing skydiving, and not for the better. Higher fatality rates and frequent lawsuits would be the most likely immediate result, followed by stiffer regulation and fewer places to jump.
  22. Clay If you have the about:blank hijack you may not be able to clean it with just the resources you have so far.http://ask-leo.com/aboutblank_hijacked_my_homepage_how_do_i_fix_it.html This site is a very good source of info on the about:blank hijack. 23. The best advice would be WARM IT UP before driving. Also try to avoid short trips for less wear and tear and best economy. If you are goung to do any towing, the diesel is far superior in performance and economy to a gas engine rig. I have owned both vortec 454 and duramax diesel powered duallys and prefer the diesel hands down. My 97 454 turned 10 mpg town,14 freeway mileage, the duramax made 14 mpg town 18 freeway.
  24. I live in orange county and usually jump on weekends.....I will drop you a pm
  25. A very wise and experienced skydiver showed me that packing the new zp on grass made it much easier. It seems the moisture in the grass makes the fabric a little sticky.
