Putting a camera on my helmet for the first time
dunesurfer replied to GPSJane's topic in Photography and Video
I prefer a box, as it provides better protection for the camera, and generally has fewer snag issues. As for a sight, I prefer a "paper asshole" stuck on my goggles over the dominant eye..... it has no snag point Please discuss this with your S&TA and the experienced camera flyers at your DZ. -
I would recommend against this route and get a proper camera helmet with a cutaway system. Consider what you add to your head here can get you killed. Further, I suggest discussing camera flying with your S&T A or other camera flyers at your DZ before you begin. Jumping a camera is fun, but it multiplies the risk you are exposing yourself to. Be sure you are aware of all these risks and mitigate them as much as possible

I have my HC-42 side mounted,CookieComposites black box on a Bonehead Optik Illusion.

I would prefer drowning, how about you?

The DVD player needs to see a speed input to prevent playing on a front screen while in motion. It is easy to disable this input on an aftermarket or factory installed system.
-
Don't give it to the dog, as it may carry parasites or disease. Freezing or drowning are humane ways do deal with this little problem.
-
You should get what I have cuz it's the best. Your gear is crap because it differs from mine.
-
You might be a Lutz if: You pull off your pecker and toss it in the toilet after taking a piss.
-
I will buy you one, but you must promise to pose with it in a leather bustier
-
OMG I could so use one of those right now!!! If we ever meet you want to go shoot things sometime?
-
You and me both, brother

Most likely Nerodia Rhombifer...... Diamond back water snake. http://www.zo.utexas.edu/research/txherps/snakes/nerodia.rhombifer.html
-
It is a banded water snake. The one posted at the beginning of the thread is also a water snake, probably a banded as well. They are non-venemous but usually have a very pissy attitude.

I jump an HC-42, which weighs in at about 140z.... the PC1000 is nearly identical in weight. I do not find it to be "oversized" or "heavy".
-
Of course you are......now put your "special" helmet on and get back on the "special" bus

I hope you don't own a rabbit Forego the sex, anal or otherwise. She is a psycho. I am willing to bet that the rear parcel shelf in her car is filled with stuffed animals(another clue she has a screw loose). Run Like Hell

Anybody know of anything like this that will work on a Royal Lens Diamond 0.3x? It won't work on the royal lens because it does not have that "lip" that the Cookie lens uses to catch the inside of the aluminum attaching ring. It is hard to make out in the photo, but the Cookie has a "step" on the outer edge of the lens body around the circumference. Hope this makes sense

You could PM Hottamaly(bonehead) or Cookie (cookie composites) and ask if they have plans to make a box for the HC3.

landing out + wind direction..how to tell?
dunesurfer replied to agent_lead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That method will not work, since it will feel and sound exactly the same regardless if you are going into or with the wind. Derek It has worked for me. I don't believe I imagined it. I also spent many years of my life sailing, and I can "find" the wind without looking at tell-tales. -
landing out + wind direction..how to tell?
dunesurfer replied to agent_lead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If I can't use any of the other described methods, I will flat turn my approach(when altitude allows) and both feel and listen for wind direction. Other than that, be prepared to land downwind, crosswind etc. I believe everyone will land out at sometime in their jumping career so it is best to prepare for this. You prepare yourself for dealing with malfunctions,so be proactive about landing out also. I have made 5 out landings to date,4 were to help retrieve others cut away gear :) -
The only thing that disturbs me more than the contents of these shows is that a large segment of the population can't get enough of this nonsense. They all have the same basic premise....put people together and provoke them to fight with each other. This is just more proof that human beings are going the way of the dinosaur.

Very nice. This one would be fun if you could get one http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/SH09-E.HTM

Stills (and videos) when sun is directly overhead of tandem
dunesurfer replied to steveorino's topic in Photography and Video
I am curious as to why your HC 30 won't let you do this... later models will, I use a cookie .45 on my HC42 and use beach and ski setting -
Check out this post about making a cutaway setup: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=273576#273576

Videocamera lens filters for protection
dunesurfer replied to tetra316's topic in Photography and Video
I use a UV haze filter on my Cookie Liquid lens, but it has the ability to accept a filter. Many of the low profile wide angle lenses do not allow for filter attachment.
