  1. You may notice more gaps or momentary seeking with Sirius as they use 3 satellites and no ground repeaters. XM uses 3 satellites and 800 ground repeaters to even out coverage. In the vehicles I work with we have tested both carriers and I find better gap-free coverage from XM.
  2. Yes, they are. Steer clear of boys until they grow into MEN. Unfortunately, few of them ever do. Now drop and give me 3 hail Marys
  3. You have had a bigger influence than you realize. There are many jumpers out there that have learned from you, and quietly live to jump another day. The morons just have a much higher profile, unfortunately.
  4. My favorite trick was a handful of firecrackers in the parachute hold of a low altitude combination: heavy rocket with smaller a or b engine. The eject charge would light most of them :)
  5. A bright red 05 Altima SE-R with 6 speed manual trans. As a Nissan employee I have access to very cheap leases, so I have a new car every 2 years
  6. As per the info on Sony Style, it has already been omitted from the HC26,HC36,HC46. However the HC96 does have a lanc port. It also appears the PC1000 is discontinued as well.
  7. I jump the HC42 and am pleased with it, but all I do is fun video. I side mount mine in a Cookie Black Box on a Bonehead Optik Illusion. Most of my buddies use the PC1000. The PC1000 lends itself better to a side mount setup due to its profile, where the HC would be better as a top mount. I chose the HC based on cost and having night shot feature.
  8. Power off and Power on only work when the switch on the camcorder is on, so do leave yourself access to this switch.
  9. I gave up when she began to saw the foot off with the wire garrotte...... the needles already had me squirming.
  10. I would have to agree with you on "Audition". My GF and I are both horor buffs, but neither of us could finish watching it.
  11. I will definitely check it out, at least for getting a ride in the Mike Mullins King Air. The re-lo isnt scheduled until this summer, so it will be awhile before I stop by.
  12. Jumpchikk, Namgrunt, thank you for the info. This will make my adjusting to a new state much easier
  13. I am relocating to Nashville and would like to know which DZ(s) anyone living in Tenessee prefers. I have seen 6 DZ's listed here on dropzone.com, and would like to avoid calling and/or visiting them all. Thanks in advance for any input.
  14. I have once bruised and twice cracked my coccyx between bicycles, atv's and Skydiving. Cracking it took longest to heal, about 7 months If I remember correctly. Get used to sitting on one butt-cheek to lessen the pressure on the coccyx. A hemorrhoid pillow may also help, but I have not tried this myself.
  15. .45 and .5 should be essentially the same view, but this can vary between different makers. A .45 or .5 would be for shooting outside of a formation. You would use a .2 or .3 for inside shoots. See Quades website for good info on view angle of fisheye lenses. www.futurecam.com/wide.html
  16. My buddy used one for a short time. He took the strap off and screwed the remote mount to the top of his Mindwarp.
  17. Correct.... the memory card is only needed for stills.
  18. What my friend's cam did was zoom, not focus. Besides, the focus was set manually to a distance approx. 10 feet for his wide angle lens. I know this for a facs as I set the camera up myself for him prior to the jump.
  19. I've been looking for that as well on all the pc1000 threads and did not found the answer. I will be using my camera mostly in BASE and don't want the footage to get blurry during every opening, like i.e. the pc101. Any (BASE)jumpers who have experienced this on this model? Thanks I have seen my buddies PC1000 do this on deployment . It appears that the cam zooms in,then back out again. It is very brief(about 1 second) I don't know how often it occurrs, I only noticed it on some footage I firewired from him. Also... he is currently jumping a Spectre.
  20. I wonder if it was a very thin wall or a very long schlong??
  21. Cons: lots of snag area as the mindwarp does not have a flat surface to mount to,also your cam will be exposed to riser slaps. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1973875;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread See tso-d chris's post at the end of the above thread for more reasons to have a camera specific helmet.
  22. It looks like the 32 uses the same docking station as the 42. Previous models(30,40) did not require it. Some people find the docking station to be an added incumberance, but the latest models seem to be going to this. I see it as meaning less mass on the Camera, less mass on your noggin. The differences between 32 and 42 are slightly better quality from the 42 and ability to shoot in wide format. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=365870&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation
  23. I would suggest basing your choice on how you intend to use it, and how much you are willing to spend. If you want to just shoot fun video and don't want to spend a lot of money, look at the HC cams (21 32 40 42). If you want a step up in video quality go for hc90 or pc 1000. I own the hc42 and am satisfied with it so far, but I just shoot fun video with it. My buddy has the pc1000, and I do notice a difference in the video quality in his compared to mine, his being better.... but He paid almost 2x what I put out for the hc42.
  24. This may get you the new moniker of "SudsyFist-fucker"
  25. AFAIK, MPEG is only used to store video clips on the memory chips. PC55 has no slot for the memory chip, so no stills, no mpeg clips. If you need your video in MPEG, you can capture to a computer and convert it to MPEG, but with no LANC port and no threads for lens attachment the PC55 is not very well suited to skydiving use. Also, you would have to fabricate your own box or bracket for it.
