A few months ago when I tried it for my AFF jump I totally messed it up. I found the problem was that half way through it I would feel so unstable and not follow through all the way. Then I tried it on a solo and finally got it. It takes longer to fully flip than you expect. Also, I found that the best way to learn it was to not listen to anyones description of how to do it. Just do what you think will work and it will work.

That was great

A friend told me a story awhile back about Neil Armstrong that I thought I should share. Some of you may have heard it before, I find it hilarious. Back when Neil walked on the moon, before getting back on the Apollo, one of the things he said was "Good luck Mr. Gorsky". People asked him for years and years what he meant by it, and it wasn't until decades later that he revealed what it meant. When Neil was just a kid, he went after a baseball that landed in his neighbor's (the Gorskys') bushes. While reaching for it he overheard Mrs. Gorsky from the window yell "Sex?! You want sex?! I'll give you sex when the boy next door walks on the moon!". True story.

Luckily I only needed 1 book this semester. Still cost me $200 I appreciate when professors actually acknowledge that they cost a lot.

Well I'm still a newb, but on my first student solo I was in a cloud the entire free fall. I could barely see my altimeter and I pulled when I managed to see 5,500. As soon as my chute fully opened I broke through the cloud and saw land again. I was pretty scared.

Looks like fun, but I would definitely want an in ear headset or something

I do it because I love airplanes and I love being up in the sky

Today I did my level 7 and 8 out of 13 for my IAF training. My first jump went flawless, with a perfect landing. Second jump, flawless freefall, not so much landing...For some reason I could not locate the dropzone! Normally it takes me 5-10 seconds after my canopy opens, but this time I was just so lost, by the time I located it I knew I was not going to make it back. My instructor saw this and landed in a nearby field. I did not know the wind direction at this point so I was trying to copy her exact pattern, but I ran out of altitude. At this point I should have just landed downwind right in the open, but I hesitated and tried to land upwind. I thought I was fine until I wasn't going down as fast as I wanted to be. A huge treeline, a road, and power lines were right in front me, I was trapped. I pulled a couple hard S turns to try and lose altitude and flared right before the trees. I got both feet on the ground one step and then my canopy caught on the trees. I really thought I was gonna end up stuck hanging from them but i made it out without a scratch! I feel like a fool, but at the same time I'm glad I got the experience of making quick decisions and turning that low to the ground. I guess I just have a fear of landing downwind, but I have to remember its a safer alternative then making dangerously low turns, especially near obstructions

Nope, Instructor Assisted Freefall. It consists of 13 levels, but very similar to AFF.
