I've had heavy backpacks on during rides, it is not fun at all. And if you're talking 20-30#... that's gonna get your back and shoulders tired real fast. I would either strap it to the back seat (depending on type of bike) or drop the coin for the top box. I've had them on a few bikes and they are worth their weight in gold! I'll actually give you the opposite thought on liners for hot days. Coming from motorcycle racing, the mesh liner makes it MUCH easier to get in and out of the suit and it keeps the main suit from sticky to your body when you're sweaty. I actually used the mesh liner out of my racing suit under my RW suit this summer, it wasn't any cooler, but I wasn't worried about peeling the RW suit off my arms and legs. Judging by estimates of 500,000+ objects flying in our vicinity large enough to detect (which are much bigger than this one) and the claim that they have tracked maybe 1% of those objects, it's a pretty safe assumption that a 50ft rock entering the atmosphere at 33,000mph was not detected. I've seen quotes ranging from every 10-40yr frequency for something as large as the asteroid that passed Friday happening, it just happens that now we have the technology to track these things.
