  1. Not to mention the fact that the legislation itself is flawed. They state "undetectable weapons"... yet the fail to understand that the spring inside is metal, the bullets are copper and lead, the casings are brass, not even considering the fact that the whole of the gun contains detectable metal, steel barrel anyone? 2. I don't know about that. If there's a 20 year mandatory prison sentence for being in possession of one, then it will surely discourage a lot of Rambo wannabes. It would, for example, be difficult to hide it if you took it to a range to test it. Hell, the last range I went to with my AR is outside a tiny little town in the woods of Georgia, run by one kind old gentleman who can do a helluva triggerjob on a 1911. Tell me what BATFE agent is stationed there to check every magazine and gun part for legallity? In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 3. Yep, 1 in 12 on average will experience a violent or property theft crime. High enough average for me and mine to be armed and prepared. 4. Funny thing I read about him recently, there's a petition to out to kick him out of the US back to the UK, and a similar one barring him from the UK to stay in the US! 5. Very well said. That last half pretty much sums up the 2nd in my opinion. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. That's all you get, so appreciate them while the time you have with them lasts. - RiggerLee
  6. Please post a link to anywhere that I suggested no one would ever need a gun. My apologies, I hit quote on the wrong reply. It was Quade that said this... So, using Quade's logic, my argument stands. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 7. Well, using your logic, the average skydiver will NEVER need a reserve... so why on earth would anyone EVER have one? Hell, it would save me money! 10. Generally speaking, sales taxes are paid in the locality the product is finally delivered, where the buyer takes delivery. I.E... you buy something online in California, ship it to Georgia, if the company has no presence in Georgia, you pay no sales tax. If the company has brick-and-mortar in your state, you pay that sales tax. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 11. And I would have the best attorneys available sueing the balls of that paper ASAP. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. That's all you get, so appreciate them while the time you have with them lasts. - RiggerLee
  12. My only question about the proposals listed there is the 24-hr notification of nutters punishable by jail time... how are they going to prove that someone did or did not know in order to send someone to jail for failing to notify authorities? And then the onus is on the person to be able to identify/diagnose nutters and their intent to do harm, someone who is not a trained psych evaluator... 13. I'll second that. If it works as reliably or more so than the Vigil/Cypres options, sure. When it comes to saving my or my wife's lives, performance and reliability trumps where it's made without question. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 14. Building strength and endurance will help. As far as your arms/shoulders... get a few dumbbell pairs, 5,10,12.5,15 and do what I call "around the worlds". Sit on a bench, grab a pair that is mid-weight for your strength, start with the at your sides hanging down. Do a front raise and with your arms straight out in front of you, spread your arms so they are straight to the side, hold it a beat, then lower them. That's 1/2 a rep... do the opposite, out to the sides, rotate to the front, then down. That will build up strength and endurance for holding your arms up and out. I have very strong shoulders (I can overhead press with 75# dumbbells) but I only use 12.5's and they kill me in about 8-10 full reps! Do as many as you can with good form, then rest and lower the weight. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 15. The point of the stand your ground or castle doctrine laws is not a reduction in crime. It is intended to give the victims of the crimes ability to defend themselves with deadly force if necessary without fear of prosecution. How many lawsuits have there been lately where the burgular breaks into a house, gets shot, then presses charges on the homeowner? 16. My wife died a couple of years ago. I keep our wedding rings in a drawer. Don't know what else to do with them. My wife has my original wedding ring, a tungsten/ceramic design. One of the ceramic rings broke, so I told her to keep it and I plan to make a 3-ring necklace with it. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 18. That's a classic defensive turn around move. He is swinging the blame and guilt squarely onto your shoulders. DON'T LET HIM WIN!!! You have a huge heart in that you wanted to forgive him. Move on, you deserve better than that. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 19. I would agree that it could cause issues with new relationships. As a man, I would wonder if I were able to live up to the memory (I have a friend that is in the same boat, he will NEVER live up to his wife's 1st husband, she tells my wife that a lot). I agree to have it resized or set the stones into something else, that way the everlasting parts of the diamonds are still with you in a different way. I would do this myself with my wedding ring if she were to die. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 20. But as noted, in space there is no drag. As long as it is clear of any gravity-effects, it won't be an issue. It's similar to being able to push a car that is on inflated tires in neutral (low drag) versus pushing the same weight sitting flat on the ground (high drag). The force required is fractionally smaller. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 21. That is the thing that worries me most. Ok, we agree to a national registry, something else bad happens like Sandy Hook. "OK, the registry didn't work, we're banning them all. Hey, look! We have this nifty list of everyone that legally owns the guns we're banning. It's not all of them and it's not the criminals, but hell, it's a start and better than nothing!" that's one greasy-ass slope for sure. 22. But in this latest incident, the laws worked. Lanza tried to buy a rifle and was denied, so he went to his legal-firearm-owning mother, stole them and shot her. The greater problem is know one addressed the signs if they saw them at all. I wouldn't call stealing a gun easy access. Not like it's in the checkout line of Wal-mart next to the Snicker's bars... How do you know he "STOLE" them? She may have granted him access. After all, she did take him to the range with her. The whole STOLE bit is just a convenient excuse to make the gun lobby feel better. I guess we'll never know the truth on that one. It is an assumption on either side of that equation, I, for one, would assume that if she had a worry that he was likely disturbed and worried about him, she wouldn't have "granted him access". I've taken plenty of people to the range, my father included, none of them, however, know where or how to access any of my weapons. That's a pretty long stretch to imagine, much longer than imagining he stole the guns, which he used to kill her with. I'm reading theft in pretty much every piece of news about it. And a convenient excuse for the anti-gun lobby is that she had guns just laying around her house willy-nilly, when it is more likely, knowing she was a "prepper" as described by friends and family, that they were put away, secured or otherwise hidden. No one will ever completely know the truth as to how he acquired her guns, but it's very easy to ascertain that he acquired them without her permission and then killed her. 23. Crazy/disturbed/mentally imbalanced people will always find a way. If someone is hell-bent on achieving a particular outcome, it generally happens, doesn't matter what the plan is (killing people, running a marathon, losing weight...). Are you making the point that it's not the guns, it's the crazy people getting guns or that we don't know these people are actually crazy? Because point 1 is self-explanatory, point 2 is already a law if they're diagnosed (wife's cousin is diagnosed bi-polar and cannot legally possess a gun), but point 3 seems to be the crux of the argument. 24. "Hurley, reading from a police report, said the kids were playing when Burch approached the fence and began 'screaming in a very aggressive manner. One of the teachers observed Burch create a high level of fear in the 22 children.' " quoted from the second article. That seems a little beyond "acting scary". 25. Agreed with the overreaction of no bond, but is it at all dissimilar to going into a crowded theater and yelling "FIRE!"? That is inciting panic and is illegal.
