  1. But in this latest incident, the laws worked. Lanza tried to buy a rifle and was denied, so he went to his legal-firearm-owning mother, stole them and shot her. The greater problem is know one addressed the signs if they saw them at all. I wouldn't call stealing a gun easy access. Not like it's in the checkout line of Wal-mart next to the Snicker's bars... 2. What's to stop said wacko from going to his vehicle, getting in, starting the ignition and simply running everyone in the packing area over? Same thing in the traffic incident? It's not about the tool. It's about the person. Why won't y'all get this? What about this little black object with brass and lead scares everyone so much to think that someone is just gonna willy-nilly start shooting anytime they want? 3. You know what I mean the high cal Military weapons high cal? Like a .223 or 5.56? how bout a single shot .308 or .338 Lapua? In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. That's all you get, so appreciate them while the time you have with them lasts. - RiggerLee
  4. The clocks aren’t off, you are correct and I have learned a bunch and proven a theory. Both cutaways were from fully deployed mains. That hurts the RSL and helps the Skyhook. Reason: The RSL is always the same; it is consistent because it always uses the pilot chute which will always have the same drag capabilities. The Skyhook is faster when it has the very high drag of a fully inflated canopy but it will slow down depending upon the drag of the malfunctioned main. As the drag of the main (which is working as a pilot chute) decreases due to an increased severity of a malfunction on the main, the rapidity of the deployment also decreases. My previous views and timings were of higher speed mals to the extent where the malfunctioned main had no drag and the main pilot chute was doing all of the work. This can be dangerous if the main PC is collapsible and has collapsed. In a bag lock the collapsible PC doesn’t collapse with the bag closed. This is where Tandem gets tricky. The drogue has already collapsed upon release and is not available to assist the main if it has deficient drag. So now we are back to depending on the reserve pilot chute which if any good we wouldn’t need the Skyhook. In general, wouldn't a malfunctioning main generate more than the 18lbs of drag on a RPC? Even in a baglock or streamer situation? In a baglock, the main's PC is still functioning, correct? Therefore, a Skyhook should generally be faster than an RSL right? 5. With my agenda there'd be less massacres; but that's not as important as the right to carry a gun is it? Ah yes Now we see the arrogance and future seeing abilities of a gun o phobe Gun bans are working well in Chicago, dont you think? Chicago's gun ban was overturned by SCOTUS. Gun homicides are UP this year. And it was overturned at the END of this year. Not in January... Not to mention the fact that they have six months to write the new laws. 6. The "nutter" didn't OWN a gun. His mother did. He took them illegally and killed her then went and did the rest. How is that the gun's fault? 7. Red herring. How many of the many massacre perps had a record of being violent criminals? They are crazy people. How many people have the many massacre perps killed compared to the numbers that the many violent criminals that already have records that are walking the streets with illegal guns? Pales in comparison I would wager. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. That's all you get, so appreciate them while the time you have with them lasts. - RiggerLee
  8. He never did. I think BL knew his goose was cooked the day he triggered the twin towers. Although I was not there, I could almost picture Bin Laudins face before he was shot: Oops, got me. Passive and fearless. It's already been reported he didn't put up a fight. I bet his face may have had a little more happiness to it... "ooh I get to meet my virgins! Racism

Haha I read it as "I've met some really dumb people of ALL races"... As in "Some of my best friends are Black"? I have just returned from a four week trip to the US (bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee, FL) and I can tell you without fear of contradiction, racism is alive and well in the USA. And I assure you, I know racism when I see it! In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 11. Part of the issue with your cross-draw (I'm guessing left side appendix-style carry) is that the main weight of the gun, the grip with the mag and ammo, is hanging out and typically lowers the center of gravity of the entire rig. It makes it MUCH easier for it to slip out if your snap comes loose. Whereas a more vertical or even forward FBI-style cant leaves no way for the weapon to slide in the hoslter. Crossdraw can be as much as 45* of angle with the grip hanging way low relative to the barrel. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 12. That is exactly why the guy that shot up the movie theater in Colorado drove past the TWO theaters closest to his apartment heading to the one he shot up... "NO WEAPONS ALLOWED" he knew there was a MUCH lower chance of someone being armed and fighting back. This was proven. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 13. Ever use Velcro? NASA development. Designed as a way to keep the astronauts and other tools in place in weightless environments. hell, this isn't worth my time. 14. Eh, I jumped in as a "hey I know cool shit about NASA too" and he turned out to be an idiot. I'm a sucker I guess. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. That's all you get, so appreciate them while the time you have with them lasts. - RiggerLee
  15. Ok... I'm going to say this once and be done. You're an idiot. I'm guessing that's a little bit of a sarcastic comment. But either way, nepotism was absolutely not tolerated at any level. All of my family members were in completely different departments and none were in positions to be able to hire another family member. Not to mention the fact that between the three of them they have more years of education than you have probably been alive. (Especially when you add my mother into the mix who spent two years there as the assistant inspector General for NASA) Don't ever insult the intelligence, drive, experience and work of anyone that has ever worked for that particular part of the government. Our lives would be drastically different without the advances NASA has given us. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog. 16. Hogwash. It's the bully thing to do. This wasn't voted on by "The People." It was ramrodded through by a legislature put in place by gerrymander. It's a disgrace. To call it "the right thing to do" isn't anywhere close to accurate. Sounds like Obamacare... Except if you put it to a vote, it wins pretty much every time. "Right to work" pretty much never does. That's a big IF there, brother. No one ever had the chance to vote on it outside Congress, and even they were told "you want to read it? vote it in..." I think the people getting laid off due to the scheduled fees and increased costs (not to mention the people who just have to pay for it) wouldn't be voting for ACA. Hell, my current insurance plan for my wife and I is well more than double what I had to pay for better coverage for me and my ex... 17. I grew up a NASA brat outside Langley. I vividly remember my dad taking me into the lab on the weekends while he was doing vibration testing on the trellis structure that became part of the current space station. I was 5-7 or so and hitting this huge structure with a little wired hammer and now that thing is in space! He left to start law school, he got bored... My step-mom is a lead project manager and developing some of the newest high-tech can't-tell-anybody aerospace toys. She absolutely loves her job. My uncle (dad's brother) is one of the project leads on the new Orion capsule's launch-abort system that strips the capsule with the astronauts off the rocket and lands it safely when there's an emergency. He sent me the video of the first successful test of the full-size system with a note that the team said "today we saved those astronauts' lives". VERY fulfilling! I think for most it's the fulfillment of working on a project that is much much bigger than yourself and seeing it succeed and potential advance Man's knowledge of things and capabilities. 19. Added emphasis on the belt... I was amazed at what a high quality carry belt did for comfort and drawing/re-holstering the weapon. 23. To me, carrying with a round chambered was more a mental thing than worrying I would have an ND. You're right to think that it will take too much time to chamber a round when you need it. "Excuse me Mr. Badguy, I need a few seconds to rack this thing..." Just keep the booger-hook off the trigger! The Glock will not fire without you pulling the trigger consciously. I'm not saying carry it chambered before you're ready, physically and mentally. But that is part of the game of carrying a weapon. You have to be prepared all around. 24. I've enjoyed carrying in a Comp-Tac MTAC Minotaur holster. It's IWB, leather and kydex hybrid that puts the belt loops outside the profile of the gun so it makes for a slimmer profile. I've carried full-size 1911s and Springfield XD doublestacks (same dimensions as your Glock) and they are very comfortable. It starts to mold to your body shape after a while. Plus, you can get different kydex shells to hold different pistols with the same leather backing. In every man's life he will be allotted one good woman and one good dog.
