Have you tried doing a search on something like "romantic songs" or "wedding songs"? I'm sure there must be sites out there that have lists of songs that would be appropriate for a wedding, and reading through them might help the light bulb go off quicker. Good luck to you! At my wedding we had 2 songs played: Colour My World by Chicago and True Companion by Marc Cohn. Do you have any songs that are special to the two of you? Let me say, any romantic songs that are special to you? Luna I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information!

I'm not angry really, I just think it's stupid to market a ride like that as anything to do with skydiving. Every time I talk to a whuffo about what skydiving feels like, they don't want to believe that you don't get the stomach-in-the-throat sensation of falling. I tell them, but they say they just don't believe that you don't. Marketing a ride like this, which will give you that sensation in a big way, as feeling like skydiving will just make it impossible to get across what it really feels like. Already they don't want to believe me, even though I've done it. Now some marketing hacks tell them that this ride will give you the feeling of skydiving, they will never believe that you don't feel like you are falling. I guess it doesn't really matter what whuffos think it feels like, but then there are the fence-sitters who might like to try it, but not if it's going to feel like that. Maybe I'm wrong to care, but I don't much like the idea of the blatant mis-representation of what the sport is like to the general public. JMHO. Has anyone seen this? New ride for next year at King's Dominion amusement park in Virginia. Ride is called Drop Zone, and the marketing blurb on this page says that it "simulates the sensation of skydiving." Yeah, right! I guess what makes me mad is thinking about all the whuffos who will ride it and then say that they have experienced the "sensation of skydiving" so they know what it's like. Can you imagine talking to one of these guys and trying to explain that it really isn't at all like skydiving? And of course they will believe that they don't need to really ever skydive now that they have had the sensation. Think this ride will cost DZ's tandem money? Maybe not, but it's possible. Obviously whuffos came up with the idea to market it that way. Might still be a fun ride, just don't market it like that! http://www.kingsdominion.com/attractions_rides_featured.jsp Luna I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Wow, I just saw one today at our DZ, and pepto-bismol doesn't even cover it! That thing is BRIGHT! Think NEON PINK! Very nice though, and very visible in the air. I like it. Good luck next month! This link is to an interview that my uncle did regarding his two weeks out at the WTC site last year helping with the cleanup. Good article if you are interested in hearing what it was like there. Here is a couple of pics of my baby, Jake. He truly is spoiled rotten. We don't have kids, so he gets all the attention. He runs the house! I love him though. Luna I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information!

I've only done a couple of jumps too, but so far I've also noticed I'm more relaxed. Along with that, I've developed more of an "I don't really care" attitude. I used to stress out about everything, but not so much anymore. I really like being able to get away from all the things that normally occupy so much of my thoughts. I've found that most of my time spent at the DZ, not just while I'm doing a jump, I forget about everything else. It's a nice escape. In the article that you linked to, it was made very clear that the students who put this thing together chose to distribute white ribbons as opposed to red white and blue ones to avoid offending anyone. So, in that respect, the original article was in fact correct. The school then stepped in and told them that they were to distribute the red white and blue ones. This was done after the article was published. Some may say that this is supposed to be a memorial for those who lost their lives, and not all of them were Americans, so we shouldn't display our flag or our colors so we won't offend anyone (several of the students have been quoted as saying this, despite the school's official opinion, so this has not been "debunked," and still stands as fact). The fact of the matter though is that the attack was on America. The terrorists were directing their anger at the United States, and in the process managed to kill many people from many other nations. We should mourn them, of course, but I don't think it is right to say that because some of the victims were not Americans that we should put away our flags, hide our patriotism and try not to offend those other nationalities. They were killed in an attack on this country, while in this country, and so I think that they would all understand if this country comes together in full patriotic regalia in their memory. I don't consider it a political issue at all. And, to be fair to the original poster, the post was made first thing this morning, and although the press conference was held yesterday debunking the story, the wire stories that I saw on that press conference were dated today, most likely not widely available until after the original post. In other words, I don't think that it was malicious spreading of misinformation. Thank you for alerting the readers to the correction, which seems to be about as widely available as the original story, meaning not very easy to find! I guess it happens a lot. My first AFF jump (a week and a half ago), we were done with the class by 1:30 and my husband and I let the only other guy in the class go ahead of us, even though we reserved before him so we should have gone first. He had to be somewhere by 5, and we had nowhere to be, so we figured why not. We went to lunch and got back in time to see him getting on the plane. After he was down, it started to rain. So we waited for the rain to stop, then for the black clouds to roll out. Finally my husband gets geared up and goes up for his jump. Only, on the way up the ground winds start gusting around 16-20, so they call up and tell them to leave him on the plane. He gets back down, then we have to wait out the winds. Then it's more black clouds. Finally he goes up and had a great jump. Now it's my turn. I get geared up, come out, and look up to another huge black cloud cover. We give it 15 minutes, and then the clouds are gone, but my instructor thinks that we won't make sunset, but she is told that it's later than she thinks, so we just make it on the sunset load. I jumped at 7:30pm! When they tell you to set aside the whole day, they mean it! There is no telling what can happen! Have fun Sep 14! My next one is the 7th. Can't wait! I've been lurking a lot here since I did my first Tandem on June 22. I feel like I know all of you already. Anyway, I just went for my first level AFF yesterday and want opinions. Basically, I lost altitude awareness. I did manage to pull after my instructors were pointing violently in my face, and they said I was at about 4200 when I did, 1300 lower than planned. What happened was my altimeter was being blown around the other side of my wrist and I was really only seeing the bottom of it. Anyway, I really thought I was at about 7000-8000 when they told me to pull. I was wondering why they were telling me to pull, what went wrong. After my controllability checks, I checked my alti and saw I was at 3000 and wondered how on earth I had got so far down so quickly. I had to ask the instructors what went wrong after I landed. They both told me not to beat myself up over it, that I did good. I don't feel so good about it though. Obviously I'm going to make sure my alti fits better next time, but besides that, any advice? Should I be freaking out, or is it pretty normal to screw up on Category A? I was just hoping that I'd do better, but it was very overwhelming, even after the Tandem. Thanks for listening!
