You seem ask a lot of questions on this site, but it's good thing. I have no idea about difference, since I'm not expert at military rig. _________________________________________________ if that is the case, why are you replying to the question? yes, i'm feeling a bit crotchety right now kleggo

i've re-read http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1959423;search_string=prodigy;#1959423 and a few related threads. Outrager recently highly recommended adding one to my gear bag. i like it's apparent simplicity and impressive performance potential. How do you like yours? be safe Kleggo

It's always been a fantasy to find a podunk DZ somewhere and pretend to be a FJ student, just so I could get out there on AFF 1 and have a ----------------------------------------------------------- i did this ~ 3 years ago at a small Dz in oregon. it was a static line class so i didn't completly fulfill YOUR fantasy, BUT i had a great time. My last words to the jumpmaster as i climbed out onto the step were, "jumping borrowed gear is black death". her countenance was bemused / angry / priceless. beer did go a long way to soothe the DZ owner, but the jumpmaster was still pissed. oh well be safe kleggo

What Should I Know About a Cross Country?
kleggo replied to JENNR8R's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
point your parachute in the right direction to land at your destination. bring a beer open it behind you, opening a beer in front of you with a 25mph "headwind" is not something you'll repeat. be safe kleggo -
_________________________________________________ Then you whine a cry because you can't jump El'cap and the like, guess what, you stupid fuckers are the reason us law abiding citizens can go to El' cap and jump it and the main reason it is outlawed is because of the total lack of respect your peers have shown over the years in that park. __________________________________________________ whoa strato. i thought you were too mature / knowledgeable to paint "us" with such a broad brush. Perhaps you're just a bit too close to this issue and too emotional that flying typing fingers got away from you? because i'd bet a bunch-o-money that the reason "we" can't jump in Yosemite legally is because of actions that occured by SKYDIVERS long before the current generation of BASE jumpers had graduated kindergarden. Remember the Flatbed incident ???????? __________________________________________________ A lot of you need to clean up your act! IMHO To bad more of you can't have the outlook Tom A. seems to have. __________________________________________________ Now you seem to be back on track. Can't argue with these points. be safe kleggo ~

__________________________________________________ take whatever you need to be safe / comfortable on the way up and use a ParaPak II (developed by Moe Viletto and Todd Shoebothom currently marketed by APEX Base ) to safely jump it down. This is a great tool i've used to good effect over the years.................... well actually I just have used the original ParaPak, but my II was just built and will be broken in soon. The ONLY drawback i see is it's not the hot setup for WS flight since you have a big blob on your back between the harness and container. be safe have fun kleggo

far and away, the best place to find good / consistent CReW is Florida ( sad but true since i love in So. Cal.) Lake Wales / Sebastian / Z hills are the Meccas of CReW in the US. contact Wendy, the moderator of this forum to be put on the CReWDOGS email list server for more current info. Florida jumps will probably be weekend only, as will most every other DZ. The FF convention does offer the chance to jump every day but................................................................. most CReW folk i've talked to over the years have been disappointed by both the quantity and quality of CReW there. it's not called the FF convention for nothing be safe kleggo

Why is it that we see so many questions about stuff that's right there in the SIM? Doesn't anyone read the freakin' manual anymore? __________________________________________________ i have been jumping since 1981 i have > 4500 jumps i have had some competion success i have had the pleasure of participating in several world records. i am still alive i have NEVER read the sim and likely never will. but i have had the advantage of spending many many hours at dz's talking to people long before this internet resource came about. conversation is nearly ALWAYS better face-to-face vs keyboarding. the sim may be a decent substitute for conversation of either type????? you tell me. you also asked. Why is it that we see so many questions about stuff that's right there in the SIM? Is it all about just getting someone to tell you the info instead of reading it yourself? uh, because many people are basically lazy and want to be spoon fed whenever possible? be safe kleggo ps it's not just u you're right to be annoyed / concerned / interested

fit = great shoe size 8D crispi size 41.5 comfort = good durability = unknown ankle protection = seems good even without plastic stiffeners traction = piss poor, when i wear them to my favorite desert playground the stiction is noticeably (frighteningly so) less than with my old standby 5.10 thin sole approach shoes. playground material = sandstone like pumice. a friend who climbs in hanwags had noticeably more traction i CAN NOT recommend them for situations where frictioning is your friend. be safe kleggo

But getting back to our subject: i feel that at Perrine, sliders just don't matter. I have jumped there with and without a slider, and had absolutely no idea which way rigs were packed. It made no difference at all. In fact i got so drunk by the afternoon that i had to switch to rounds. By the way thank you everybody for all those loaners... i've never jumped so many different rigs in one day! bsbd! Yuri. __________________________________________________ whoa dude were you drinking when you typed this? be safe kleggo

update after recent delivery of my new rig and putting ~ 20 jumps on it, (a mix of CReW and FF), i'd have to say that initial impression is very favorable. Now i've just got to get used to the feel of the new design "cut-in" laterals. be safe kleggo

My thought is that I have always been concerned about people jumping sliders at Perrine. The reason I say so is because if it were a cliff we wouldn’t dare do it. __________________________________________________ interesting post, thanks for taking the time to write. I'm curious if you would post YOUR reasons for believing that "we" would not dare to jump a cliff @ 486'. i'm not trying to be argumentative, just trying to get a feel for your, and other peoples, perceptions / beliefs. thanks be safe kleggo

The 3 jumpers had made this jump successfully (although not ideally) on 2 previous occasions during the last 2 days. __________________________________________________ i'm curious to know if there was any post dive review of these "less than ideal" jumps by the people involved and if any corrective action was considered or implemented. be safe heal quickly kleggo

__________________________________________________ I'll agree and ratchet the praise up a notch. I think that TB spoke cogently when quoted as "Some accept the risks and treat BASE jumping as a wild game of Russian roulette. Some are intrigued by the illegal side of the sport and enjoy the cat-and-mouse aspect of getting away with jumps. Some are ego-focused and groove on the notoriety of their involvement. Some are very normal people who simply take skydiving up a level, and appreciate the thrill of meeting an exceptional challenge" that covers some of us. Since he did not mention anyhting about; enjoying the wilderness, solitude, watching sunrises /sunsets, climbing, exercise, camraderie ........... etc. should we start a poll to see where we outliers fall? be safe kleggo
