  1. thanks. hadn't seen this for a LONG time
  2. No, I was referencing the wooden ladder shown in the photo. We always used the procedure you describe. Be safeish
  3. Agreed, this was the base of the original KFI mast. I can just imaging how much EMF is crackling. (so mind boggling one day ~ 20 years ago when I drove by and it WAS GONE!!!!, knocked over by a small plane impact) https://www.oldradio.com/archives/warstories/640.htm I hope that wooden ladder was truly a non-conductor.
  4. won't view any of your viddy's, but good luck and have fun
  5. ahh what ever happened to tire biter and Precision Aero? Were they retired? sued out of existence? Consumed by another company? I still have a sweet Raven II that George agreed to install a Basic Research tailpocket on for me, but then would not sewn on the raven end cell logos
  6. Ohio surprised me, still no regrets about leaving in 1983
  7. Planning on starting mine 29 Feb 24
  8. I just renewed my membership for the 43rd time. Damn, i should have bought a lifetime membership in 81!!!!!!!!!! I see that USPA is no longer shipping the membership card holder with the membership card, see photo. Disappointing. It was a good place to store my card in the gear bag. Oh well, the old one is tyvec, so it should last as long as I do??????????????????
  9. Talk to Todd at Apex base in Murrieta, he might impart knowledge since he is a rigger, harness / container and parachute manufacturer.
  10. "The company believes the unit can be operated by someone very stupid. LOL
  11. Are you a certified rigger? If so, do you want the liability of packing what might be an unsupported combination? Do you know how the two canopies vary in pack volume? "or should I recommend holding off until they get a better fitting reserve?" If you are asking, I think you already know the answer
  12. i still have one built in 1999. It is the updated classic model with two zippers instead of just one. White with purple wings.
  13. Thanks for linking to Wendy's beer rules
  14. just skydivers having fun near casa grande
  15. Both Elsinore and Perris are busy DZ's with talented staff. They will be able to enable as much jumping as you can tolerate. Hard to go wrong there. Perris has more and better accommodations than E'nore (restaurant, bunk house, pool) You may also want to consider Davis CA, (though I have little experience with them under non Ray F. ownership) which is a bit closer to OR.
  16. i have one i use for wingsuiting. it is a bit more comfortable than my circa 2013 Odyssey rig i used 98% for CReW. ask them to not add the "snaps" for belly weight belts, they are not a plus IMO unless you have to carry weight there. be safeish
  17. You pay shipping from 92084 https://www.dropzone.com/classifieds/item/15907-free-books-you-pay-shipping-from-92084/
  18. Good luck in your search. I have ~ 45 jumps on a double keel circa 1981. One malfunction, likely due to a packing error. I bought mine (white / blue / black) from the late Ken Crabtree (Visons / Coors 8 way team video guru). FYI, it probably packed smaller than my current 126 lightning if you're looking for sizing info. At my 160 pound exit weight, landings were soft, drive was minimal. They have an interesting "malfunction mode". they can open and begin flying backwards, (not sure what the final result would be other than a less then desirable landing). This flight mode can be cured by deep front riser input until flying forwards.
  19. Thanks, will look forward to viewing these. I stopped by Green County when I drove from Massillon Ohio to Perris in 1983. No one was there mid week, so i slept under the wing of a Beechcraft and left the next morning. Stopped at Coolidge on the way and met Zing! So happy to have left ohio. Craig
  20. Congrats, sounds like you handled it very well. smart to not unstow toggles. Also rear riser sharply down, and quick release is good method to try and clear tension knots. Not exactly sure what you mean above, but bravo! Don't need to see any videos so don't sweat that.
