Domestic (portable) sewing machine recommendation please
parafredo replied to freeflysurf500's topic in Gear and Rigging
I still use my PFAFF stretch jeans that I paid 950,00 CAD 10 years ago, they use real metal gear and a strong motor. I did a lot of rigging work on the field and never broke on me. Very tough machine and easy to set up. Never brought it to get it fixed , only routine maintenance. -
saftey seal jams reserve (non deployment)
parafredo replied to i_like_to_fly's topic in Safety and Training
I have seen this on a Vector 2 and I was there when customer pulled it. The previous rigger insert the red cotton thread thrue the Cypres loop and it was enough to hold the chute because the lead seal went into the grommet. I could be the same thing... -
By the way, they use 106R regular

I have two customers with 304. Both have 106, skyhook and the new mod as well. One of them is using a Vengeance 89 and the other one using a precision 88. They are both perfect fit but tight like a little brick. I believe you should use pictures over the rigging dept at UPT and they will be more than happy to help you. I know some jumpers are closing their main d-bags standing up position, lines down to avoid having lines at the bottom of container. They say it is easier to close and they improve the look. Good luck

One thing that you should not jump with is the slider plastic ball on your reserve closing flap. This could be a snag to catch one or more lines on opening. I have seen that happening on a reserve ride in France and landing was not so beautiful....Personnally, when I do repack and I see such a slider holder, I remove it and I do some tabs on front risers.

I would use the day of the month on the packing data card, nothing else. In event that the data card is lost, I would give until the end of the month

Well, Vigil respond to me very fast and nicely . Their support is very effective. Thanks to Yann.

Just find very funny that Astra, Argus and Vigil are NOT supplying any loop material, washer and extra pulling loops into thier kits. I guess they put all of the extra on a little metal box! I looks like they rely on Airtec to do so....

LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO GET TRAINING IN CRW IN FLORIDA (within 4 hours of ORLANDO )between Dec 23 2007 & Jan 4 th 2008...
-
Then,Fedex is responsible for the lost,Contact the local Fedex sort and have a contact with the manager of the station.Faster you get in touch, better it is.
-
Main thing is why the courrier left it without signature. If it is the case and you were supposed to sign uppon reception, claim back the courrier company. You just cannot release a box just like that, even if you put a note to do so.Courrier is responsible to leave it like he did.

Best thing you can do is to contact Nancy at JumpShack, you will find your answer without being worry about the poll you did.

Freefly Modifications For Vector 2...?
parafredo replied to somethinelse's topic in Gear and Rigging
Very sorry to say that but V2 are not freefly friendly at all, even in perfect condition. They were not designed for this purpose and if someone wants to do freefly with it,it is at their own risks. Please,do not even think about doing some mods. You should look for a newer harness to do such a discipline or just trying it.I have seen to much and DZ should not let people trying freefly with unappropriate harnesses.Better way to know if you should do it is to contact RWS ,oups ...UPT.They really can help you out one this one. -
Javelin Hard housings - A little clarification
parafredo replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in Gear and Rigging
I am very surprised that you have racer risers on your Javelin.Where are the original ones... -
Use 725 microline and make it long enough to have an extra 8 inches left .What I do when I replace the centerline is pretty simple and easy.I fingertrap and tack the line on the bag side and I on the pilot chute side,I make the line going thrue the anchor tape ,I do double knot and fingertrap the excess back into the line. This way, when you need to adjust the new kill line, you just need to undo the knots and re adjust it.Kill line has to be about an inch or two longer than the pilote chute tape when pulled all the way.If your bridle is always twisted like hell after the opening is just because your kill line is too short.

Why would you buy something without TSO or JTSO certification? In 2 years, maybe some chinese guy will do the same thing and try to sell it on Ebay...Let them get all the certifications and we will see after.Until then, get a used good one ,probably your best shot.

Fred, is there no loyalty in this sport? Yes,you are right about the racer because I owned one and I did 3 resreves ride on them,2 on racer tandem. They work just perfect and fast but not as fast like the Skyhook. That was my point and there is no doubt about this.I have nothing against the racer, just a fact.

Don't even think about not getting it on your new rig! It's a must and it should not be an option since you can disactivate it at any time.Go for it

95% sure that this canopy will need a new line set .
-
Also,if you look to the bottom left,it seems that the pack job is not equally done, material not even distribute.Follow also the manual sequence as describe above statment and shorten loop. You might need to re-shorten loop after a couple of jumps.
-
Better keep the new hackey from RWS.Less weight on pilot chute that might create problems with the bridle.

If you want,I can e-mail you the manual if you need it.
