  1. Yes ive done that too with the autofocus. seems to work the same maybe better because it is sometimes hard to get accurate focus with the viewfinders. i shoot handy so my focus is about 3 feet. I tape my zoom too. thanks for the tip with the focus wheel and white balance. i guess i should avoid focusing indoors then putting the whitebalance on the wheel? will that screw with the whitebalance when I go outside to shoot?
  2. Focus: manal till its focused...then tape Auto exposure beach / ski
  3. Of course they want dacron...so they can boost the sales of freebags, pilot chutes, drogues, risers, mains...with all those cutaways. Actually, I think I do have a problem canopy. Rear line groups are consistently jiggling slack on opening while others in the lineup are remaining taught. Think I'll send it back for a trim check.
  4. It seems PD has taken the route of the rest of the aviation industry...must be the user's fault. Bad packing. I cant believe they can ignore the response of the industry in regards to the dacron line including they're very own Skydive Deland now jumping Precision and Icarus because of the cutaways believed to be caused by the Dacron. PD stated before they would never make a tandem main with Microline or Vectran because of the opening shock. I guess they would rather see fatalities caused by an increased chance of double mals (packer or rigger fault they would say) vs injuries from hard openings (manufacturer's fault). I phasing to Icarus one canopy at a time.
  5. As some may have read in previous posts, Im having unusual number of Sigma 370 chops due to tension knots in steering and D lines. So here I am again sniveling open watching the usual slack dance of the rear riser group while the fronts are taught. So I grab the rear and pull slightly and bingo...all the lines in the rears tighten up, slider eases down. Does anyone find this technique to minimize the knots? So...maybe the canopy is trimmed funky with alot of forward pressure on opening? Anyone have any thoughts here? This canopy has less than 100 jumps on it and seems to have alot more slack during the opening than the others. It has been chopped twice. josh
  6. You kiddin me? Don't you know how dangerous it is having someone that close to you in freefall?
  7. People are using cx 7 with good success.
  8. I hear ya. Im just tryin to find a handcammers solution to semi decent still options other than frame grabs. Hey Velocity..you have a cx 7? What did yo shoot w before? I have a pc1000 now and am pretty happy w it. Still...always looking for better.
  9. They call it a hybrid...part hard disc part memory schtick. Maybe a cx 7 is a better choice...but a 7 mp still while shooting vid would still be sweet.
  10. We're talkin to memory stick...not hard drive. Like cx 7.
  11. I wish I was rich enough or hooked up enough to be test dummy. I guess we'll have to wait for you know who to get it in the air. I also see on Sony's site that they are out of stock or backordered. That would be so sweet if you could snap off 10 mp stills while rolling vid on one cam.
  12. anyone seen this cam? notably bigger than CX 7? I see its a little longer and a bit heavier. I wanna hand cam it and capture 10 MP stills with a hypeye! What do ya think?
  13. Looking at my situation, would you see the need to use the scripting feature?
  14. Can we get by without investing in Vegas Pro 8 by way of Vegas Movie Studio or Movie Studio Platinum? Nevermind...I found some posts from a while back. Looks like Platinum will be fine, but... With a script or template, would I be able to capture a full days video roll, put in different start and end points then drag what I want into timeline...burn dvd. Repeat? I am the only editor at my DZ and sometimes face 40 dubs on a Sunday.
  15. what size graphics card? is there an "Imovie" version of Vegas? that works well? josh
  16. Maybe this should be a poll? What mode is everyone shooting? josh
  17. i cant find a .0176 wide angle on royal or way cool web sites. Is it the .2 they are referring to?
  18. Seems like a 90 degree bend in a glove or on a helmet will put alot of stress on that jack.
  19. and you like it? any issues of shorts or quality?
  20. are they really the same canopy? How about material? josh
  21. You need to keep an emergency scanner with you at all times and be packed and ready to go if you want to catch a ride. Our lifeflight guys were always pissed when they had the blades turning to go to an emergency and there I am running to the bird trying to get my chest strap on. They were always game for TFA though.
  22. We are a tandem only facility. For many reasons, we are not able to accommodate fun jumpers under any circumstance. Sorry!
  23. QuoteNice video! No need to apologize for the scenery. Use what you have. If you want even better scenery, try jumping Pitt Meadows, but the best scenery is at Pemberton. Double kudos for your exit. Much better than the TI ahead of you. Does he really enjoy side-spins enough to start every skydive with a side-spin?[/ Hey Rob, why do you think the cookie .2 will be better than the royal? joshreply]
  24. And I though I was good at handy. One of the smoothest Ive seen. Awesome job. Where is the DZ? I have a hard time getting a landing shot like that. I have an ingrained habit of flaring with my hands back like Im doing a dip.
  25. I have a 330 and 1000...think the 350 is smaller but I love my 1000 for hand cam. Been using it for 2 years with no signs of wearing.
