  1. I just want to give props to the teams that showed up for a new event in college skydiving.. The Freeflying.. Although it is only gets honorably mention from USPA thanks a lot for the people that did show up and represent new freeflyers. Total props to the guys from San Marcus for taking first place!!!Again!! I hope that in the future that more teams show up.. There were four teams this year at Eloy and without you guys there would have been nothing.. I know that the price everone paid for the event was high and needs to be addressed with USPA. But the Kansas State, LSU, Univ of Texas, and southern Miss represented well.. Cheers and good luck to all that may come back next year..
  2. Any body need a ride from the Pheonix airport on the 26th at 10:15pm.. the hotel that we are staying in that is five minutes away from skydive Az and isgiving us a ride for 45$ for how ever many people can fit in the van. There are four or five more spots in the van if anyone needs a ride. Email me at ccneel@hotmail
  3. Can skydiving be construded as healthy now? Can I get a note from my doctor to give my teacher saying that I missed class because he wanted me to make two skydives and call him the next morning!! What a perfect world that would be huh?
  4. Jump 30 I think it was..I was wearing pants that unzipped at the knees.. Lost both of them and my wallet that was in the lower cargo pocket.. Went up with money and pants and came down broke and with shorts.. It was the third day of a three day weekend and had not payed manifest yet.. Extremely embarassing...
  5. right on my man.. My name is Chris and my team mate it Tim.. just look for a couple of college students in orange.. Always happy to meet and jump with new people.. Since they had the 300 way record I wonder if there is a college freefly record.. That would be pretty cool huh? Maybe we can gather a few more a get something started since we will have so many students. We plan on going to the DZ that is running a real cheap boogie a little south of Eloy after the comp.. If we cant get people who want to do it at Eloy with all the students going there it may be a possiablility...
  6. Hey bro listen to me.. If it is a canopy that has been made to be like the Sabre dont get it.. Get the real thing.. Buy a Sabre they are great for first canopies they have been making them for years.. I had two starting out.. If you are worried about price the Sabres have been around for ever and are a dime a dozen and probably can be found for the same price and jump numbers that you are looking at.. If you have money to spend find a used Sabre2 but dont get a canopy that is going to limit you learning ability and after 20 jumps you will wish you bought a sabre..cheers
  7. Great!! I am glad to hear that some more freeflyers are coming.. I have read so much about people bailing because of cost.. I guess the competition that all of us guys and gals are bringing are scaring off the little people...LOL the math: $160 per team $120 per person X2 = 240$ Total of cost ='s $400 that give us paying $40 each per jump for five rounds Our boogie fee of $25 is waived so Now $35 per jump We pay $10 a piece for a camera flyers slot.. So our Average Cost is really 25$.. At home i pay $18 a jump so I look at it as I am paying $7 to compete.. That is my justicication... For all you all that are going CHEERS....I have been working my ass off all semester for this trip.. I also hope that we can get a college big way together...COOl? ANy takers out there?..... "Team Rombone" From U of Southern Miss and Louisiana State Univ
  8. But so many of them were different it seems. Like they constantly were trying something new on the canopies at any given time. You say that PD's canopies are hand made but evey Velocity 111 and 103 I have flew have flew with the same characteristics.. Other than slight trim differences from usage I had no differences.. But the some size Jedeis I have flew seem to have different characteristics, some less than others but never the less, inconsistant.. And with that, it has to be the reason that the Samurai's are great canopies. Because of the different aproaches to the Jedies thereis now a final outcome....Samurai!
  9. Hey, I jump a 1997 105 Swept Wing Jedei. From what I have gathered is that these Jedeis are twitchy canopies on opening.. Be very careful about who and how they pack it for you. These canopies dont have the technology that the newer canopies have in relation to the nose and opening can be funky really funky.. I know of some Jedeis that will wrap all the time under controled deployments. My canopy opens qucikly and firm. Dont be afraid of the canopy because after the first 10 or 20 jumps you will know if you have one of the good canopies or a flawed one. Every one of the Jedeis were hand made hence they were inconsistant with everything and all are considered custom experamental canopies.. I load mine at 2.2:1 and F*#+ing love it!! and only paid $400 for it off of ebay
  10. That's what I call a band-aid fix. You're not addressing the real problem, you're just sort of covering it up. Guys modifying a slider is not (not) addressing the issue. Ask any experienced BASE jumper and he or she will tell you that the slider dictates EVERYTHING on openeing.. A bigger slider or a pocket slider could work very well and if it does than it WORKS. Who knows if the one on there is too small in the first place.. But if it still wacks you and you cant send it back because of the holidays put a pocket slider or a bigger one on it and stop dumping in a track. If it is out of trim you are just making it worse with the hard openings.....
  11. I have about 300 jumps on a xfire1 129 loaded at 1.8:1 It was on the recall list and had new line sets. It opened very quickly most of the time. But every once in a while BAM instant canopy!!. I hated the canopy's openings. I have jumped many other xfires that were not on the lists and they were long sniveling. Good intro into eliptical world canopies. I also had one (European) same size loved it! What I liked was that no matter the situation on body position I could dump it.. From a full speed inverted position to belly and dump, instantly, without any worry of crazyness, a little off heading but what do you expect @150mph... Bro just be aware of the recalled ones with the new line sets. If you search the forums you will find that other people have had continuously hard openings with the new line set....
  12. Cool.. I hope to see you guys there.. I am coming from Univ of Southern Miss and my team mate from Louisiana State Univ. I wish they would have an expression round to show off more than just vertical flying. cheers
  13. I have a Jedei 105 that I load at 2:17:1. 700+jumps 270 or 360 carves are landings of choice. either way.. Starting around 800 900 feet. Sometimes the first 90 to 180 degrees are a hook depening on traffic and wether I am calling the swoop off. I will still hook high(very high) in high traffic areas with ending a carve or a straight in approach, but that is just to stay in line of the order of landing traffic...
  14. Boys and Girls do any of you guys know what the competition is like in the US Collegiant Nationals for Freeflying. I know that the event has only been in the Comp. for one year(last year at Lake Wales was the first year). Did anyone see last years or know of good flyers from your DZ's that are going to go and compete. I am just curious to know that if there may be more than just two or three teams show up for the event before I pay all this money to travel there.. I know Eloy would be fun as hell for new year but I am a college student and broke like you dont know!!..Cheers.
  15. I totally argree with Craddock. I am a low number jumper with about 700 and already have 150 jumps on a 2.1:1 velocity.. But also there are knowledgable hard core swoopers where I live so the knowledge has been shared and tought correctly providing me with the skill enought to make the quick decisions to fly such canopies. Example: A friend of mine Craig Saucier, with 512 jumps under a Xaos 2:1 competed in the US nationals at the ranch.. Went big constantly! Placed in the top 25 of what is to be the best of the best. When and where you started canopy controls makes a huge difference in your progression and skill produced during that progression...
  16. Use a swimming pool.. It gives you the easy of movement as the air does.. The ability using all axoms is where it helps.. use the deep end to transition from all the stable body positions.. It can feel kind of weird but use goggles... but it does help your visual perspective. Also do a two way in the pool.. I have done that a couple of times and it is pretty cool.. unless you cant hold your breath very long..
  17. Does anyone know how to get a hold of the FF team's routines at Nationals.. Does anyone have any that might be willing to accept a fee to make a copy for me? Is there maybe a public source that I can buy a video of them or is it you just have to have been thing kind of thing to seem them? Or do they keep it secret even after the comps, surely not huh?
