  1. 8 goes into 16 alot better than 16 trying to go into 8
  2. Great thing about the Farm is they don't need anything exciting or special planned for it to be a exciting special kick ass time. I've heard the joke on these forums that "Nothing happends at the Farm". Well if that's true, then why do the regular "Farm Animals" have to go off to all these other major boogies Just to get some REST!! I hope it's OK for me to come up to the Farm tomorrow. (I'll bring chicks) Randy
  3. After! After is always better. Better yet, start it now, drink beers, spellcheck, drink more beers, edit and post. Repeat if necessary.
  4. Hey Judy, The responsibility of not allowing someone to jump “under the influence” is shared by DZO, DZM and pilot in command. From the FAR’s: Sec. 105.7 Use of alcohol and drugs No person may conduct a parachute operation, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow a person to conduct a parachute operation from that aircraft, if that person is or appears to be under the influence of-- (a) Alcohol, or (b) Any drug that affects that person's faculties in any way contrary to safety. Again, “under the influence” is not defined and remains unclear. There are specific BAC standards for flying a plane, driving a car, commercial truck, school bus, operating a train, etc. Yet, there is no standard in skydiving and therefore, left to interpretation. Due to an individuals tolerance of alcohol, one person may have a beer and not be able to find their way to manifest while someone else may drink a 12 pack within a few hours of jumping and not appear to have had a drop of alcohol in their system. Additionally, there are those that look like they just came off skid row and have never consumed alcohol in their life. There is way to much grey area regarding this issue and I have never witnessed a DZO or Pilot perform Standard Field Sobriety Testing prior to boarding a jump plane. If this is a mater of such concern for the skydiving community as a whole, then perhaps it should be addressed. I personally have not witnessed a situation where common sense and self policing within our community having not prevailed.
  5. Well, Yes, Yes I do. If fact for a lot of years and lots of jumps at lots of DZ's. That’s been my mantra for many years. All I do is jump and stay more current in the air than on a keyboard. Wow! I am proud to have been attacked by someone having so much experience in the sport as listed in your profile. Proud indeed. Thank you for putting me in my place.
  6. Not true. While a particular DZ may have an operating procedure or policy to the activity you speak of with such conviction, there is no law that prevents one from consuming a beer and jumping from a plane. The FAR’s make clear reference to jumping while “under the influence”, however the FAA does not define “under the influence” for skydivers.
  7. You CAN'T really believe that, Do you? You have got to be shittin me!
  8. Any word from Deland on conditions after the Christmas storms? Is everyone ok?
  9. I was once told that everone's true porn name is the name of their first pet and then the name of the first street they lived on. Try it. It's fun. Mine would be Ringo Somoa. Have fun with it. Randy
  10. No, it means there won't be a name on the ballot. Whoever has the most "write-in" votes will be the Southeast Regional Director. Mike Are you looking to be written in?
  11. Kennesaw and the airport are about as far away from each other you can be and still remain in the metro Atlanta area. Traffic is a mess between 7 and 10 AM and 3 to 7 PM. The drive from your hotel to Kennesaw will take well over an hour and possibly over 2 hours each way. Let your boss know this. He might want to rethink the hotel location. There are several nice places to stay in the Marietta / Kennesaw area. As far as diner, I second the nomination of The Blue Ridge Grill. It’s a wonderful place. Also consider the Atlanta Fish Market. The Buckhead Diner is another great place to eat. Don't let the name Diner fool you. Hope you enjoy our home town. http://www.buckheadrestaurants.com
  12. Do you think they should file an official protest with the meet director for the extra alltitude. Randy
  13. Their video flyer might be the biggest (tallest and most fat) one of the group.
  14. Hey, I might know. Does it weigh around 1200 pounds and can hang on the outside of a twin otter. God help the pilot. This is going to be some funny shit. Randy
  15. Hey Bro, Glad your coming again this year, no equipment required for DVD contributions. I will have one or two Macs and one linear editing system on hand for people shooting Tandem Vids to use. "i refuse to spend the weekend in the Vid tent again this year" David, I'll be there again and bring my editing station for all to use. I'll help with some of the jumps also only if you make a few jumps yourself. Two years in a row stuck in a tent is enough. You are jumping this year even if we have to hold you down to put a rig on you, then carry your non jumping ass to the plane and throw your ass out. Now, that would make for great boogie video. Randy
