  2. Yes, 3D printing has come a long way - but a metal sintered product vs the Juno are worlds apart in the cost of equipment to make and the end results. I think there were some choices made that also make the Juno look less appealing to someone who understands 3D printing.

  4. Yes, my mistake, aluminum still for the Atlas II. As for the Juno, click the display image and blow it up. You can see the 45* zigzag from the printer and it looks like they are printing with 2 perimeter walls. If Alti-2 was proud of it being 3D printed, you'd think they would mention that.
  5. I dont have a problem with a plastic case - my injection molded Quattro is excellent. My issue is with selling a high end device in a 3D printed case - it is not optimal, IMO
  6. The top of the Juno - the part we see beside the display - appears to be printed on a carbon fiber print bed (the carbon weave pattern transfers over). I can see layer lines on the side closest to the top section. If you compare the Juno to the Atlas 2, which appears injection molded, you'll notice the Atlas has a ridge around the top of the screen and the Juno does not - this is because to 3D print that ridge that would also protect the screen from scuffs would make the surface finish terrible. The description is a little misleading (IMO) : " the Juno is housed in a water-resistant micro carbon fiber-filled case". Micro carbon fiber-filled case is a marketing speak for a carbon fiber filled filament. From there, I'm left wondering if its nylon, ASA or ABS. Either way, I can buy a KG of CF nylon for about $100 cad and print 30 cases (assuming 30grams of material per case). So they're selling an alti with a $3.00 case at a premium - again, in my opinion, I think its overpriced. Full disclosure, I own and like my Alti-2 products. I just think this is a case of cost cutting and not passing saving on. the Mercury and Jade also appear to be in 3D printed cases. I'll be honest - as someone who loves 3D printing, it is a prototyping technology. I'm sad to see expensive Altis like this from a reputable company going backwards.
  7. I'm pretty disappointed to see the Juno selling for $359 USD and it's in a 3D printed case. Altis have always been expensive, small market, all that - but at least the N3 had a metal case. Knowing I could print the Juno case and the hardware would be a pittance compared the price, it almost offends me.
  8. Again, this is ridiculous. I can't get into the details here, but the new owners intended to use their shit lawyers to squeeze us off the land and our DZ is not a money dz and someone who is not the DZO got involved to assist with the legal fight. Again, without getting into details, we chose to leave. Figure out what that means knowing there are non-disclosures in play. Ask yourself why this may be the case if the landowner had the rights or even a decent legal argument.
  9. Yes, back to your question about first hand knowledge. Why would I be posting a lease in the forum ? Why do you think you would see the lease ? This is a bit silly.
  10. Motherfuckers are people who use money and lawyers to violate laws and legal documents. This was not a case of new owners operating within the law and their rights. I'm honestly sick and tired of seeing people use money and connections to act as if they are above the law. Things may be different down south, but I still like to think that we are a nation of laws.
  11. My information is first hand. I have to be careful what I say here because things became litigious and I don't want to end up in litigation again. The new owners had intentions for the airport that were not conducive to it operating as an airport, again, being careful what I say. They had moved to evict with an extra-legal notice and we resisted. They then attempted to create cause for eviction, which they were unable to do. They then began operating a bulldozer in the landing area and doing other things to create safety issues. The end result was an agreement for us to leave, the terms of which I am unable to discuss. Editing to add: We had a very favourable lease that had a couple years left on it and an option for renewal for 5 more years at the same rent and the option to renew was solely at the discretion of our DZO. The previous airport owners were very supportive of us.
  12. We (Parachute School Of Toronto) had a landlord issue (new owners are motherfuckers) and had to relocate. We are still looking for a new home - so not closed, but temporarily not operating.
  13. I think we are too used to amazon and instant gratification. Skydiving is a niche sport and uses niche items. 4 weeks, especially when they said it would be 4 weeks, does not seem unreasonable. Even two weeks to get in stock items does not seem crazy to me.

  16. Downsizing won't fix an issue with heading on opening. First is to check and make sure all the lines on the canopy are in trim. next, look at packing techniques and body position on opening. Also, what is your body doing *during* the opening sequence ? Are you watching your canopy snivel or staying in a stable position and letting it open ?

  18. Interesting, thank you for the feedback. I'm on a 152 and have always found the openings to be excellent. So is this the same canopy with a new lineset ?
  19. I've seen references to the ZuluX by Aerodyne but the website is still showing the information for the Zulu. Can anyone tell me the differences between the two canopies ? Thanks !
  20. I had a ZPX Pilot 168 and really enjoyed it. I downsized to a ZP 152 Zulu. I haven't flown a 168 ZP Pilot, but in my experience, there was nothing lacking in the flare.
  21. You should really consider the Pilot (9 cell) or Safire 2 (or 3 I guess, I haven't flown one yet). They both have great openings but the Saf snivels longer. Both land really nicely as well.
  22. Good Luck and I hope you enjoy it ! Practice your flares and stalls up high, I shortened my brake lines from standard and prefer it (after quite a few jumps). I have a lot of fun with my Zulu and can't wait to get back under it this weekend !
  23. Sorry about the thread drift on this one, I totally missed responding to you. Going from a Stiletto to a Zulu in the same wingload isn't really changing much. In fact, I think the stiletto has a more aggressive planform. I load my Zulu at 1.3, so slightly under the 1.4 that they suggest. I find the canopy to be very responsive. It is sensitive to harness input, even at the loading I'm at on a 152. It has quick openings and all of my slick jumps have been nice, on heading openings. The Zulu is not recommended as a canopy for wingsuiting...and the only two times I've had linetwists were when I dropped a shoulder deploying. I have about 150 jumps on this canopy and love it.
  24. No doubt, this makes sense. But this is something I have never seen or heard before (with respect to the Zulu) and was looking to find a source for this information. I jump a Zulu and this is news to me.
