Spots are kind of tricky. If you end up in a Kingair with a fast jump run and a 4wayRw, 4wayFF and a couple of 2ways I find it hard to always put the group out on one pass. It all comes down to how much time is taken in the door. I have spotted for a large group on a Kingair, i climbed out frt float and watch the guy in the door not take his grip, as they were aguing with the guy I looked down and saw the spot just fade away. On an other note I have had the priveledge of jumping with Bobby V, he says he has never landed out, the world is his DZ.

Have you ever made a fool of yourself at a new D.Z.??
canopywhore replied to steve1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
2nd jump at a new Dz I broke my femur on a solo hop and pop. -
It was a year ago yesterday that I broke my femur. Once again I would like to thank the nice people at Chicagoland. I appologize for causing a scene in front of tandems and students. I especially need to thank the skydiver that was the first one to get to me. He recommended that I go farther to Aurora for medical help. He was an EMT and his advice definately made my recovery possible. 5 months to the day I made a jump and I have made over 130 jumps since my accident. Here are some things I have learned. 1 nobody could prevented the carnage 2 I checked my pride at the ER room 3 accuracy is nice but not the most inportant(see 2) 4 when landing if the spot is long I don't care if I make it back to the swoop line(see 2) 5 I don't worry about landing on my but anymore(see 2) 6 when choosing a canopy think about what you like to do RW,FF,Swoop 7 I do more checks of my gear before boarding 8 I pull a little higher 9 don't fly all night to a new dropzone with a demo canopy and make a jump out of a bi-plane for the first time and try to make it to back on a bad spot to the cool place to land

I hope that they try to jump it, whoever this was must not know anything about bad karma. I hope they experience it.

Have you ever been injured while skydiving?
canopywhore replied to Clownburner's topic in Safety and Training
One broken femur less than a year ago. I ended up with a rod and 2 screws in my leg. I also had a nice 5 night stay at the hospital in Aurora Illinois. I've made over 100 jumps since. I had to travel all the way from Az to do it too.The only other injuries are sore back from hard openings or cameraman falling on me. -
It really depend on what I'm doing. I would say that on normal 4way jumps I'm in the saddle around 2500 ft. When I do fun jumps probably around 3500 and if its a big way or tracking dive then my spot in the dive dictates that.

may the force be with you here some good luck

I do most of the things on your list and agree with most of them.(my riggers has the same beliefs) Why only 500 on mini risers, even with taking care of your gear. What do you think the wear life of slinks is. Thanks for the post.

This time of year its over 100 degrees when I am done jumping. As soon as I am done with my last jump it goes in my bag unpacked. I find it alot more confortable to pack in the confort of my air conditioning.

Thanks

Has any one seen or used the new main bags from Sunpath. I was at Eloy this weekend and a camera flyer had one. After he had his canopy in the bag he looped all ofhis line on top of it, when he got down to what he wanted to leave loose he folded some sort of tuck tab and he was done. There were no rubber bands on the bag. Does anyone know anything about these bags, I'm in need of another one.

Do you people in the drier climates really care?
canopywhore replied to Muenkel's topic in The Bonfire
All of the east coast rain too much winers could watch the news. I live in Tucson and our mountains are on fire. Its very dry with high winds. They have zero containment and approx 200 homes and businesses have been destroyed. On a lighter note most people from the east complain when the visit that it is dry and hot. And in case anybody is still reading Eloy had shut down for the day, everybody has already quit jumping its too hot. On the other hand you can bet there will be 3-4 loads completed by 8am tomorrow. -
About 10am. At least that was last week when i was there.

Anyone else like night jumps?
canopywhore replied to steve1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I didn't hear you, of course I was in the plane. -
I have 650+ jumps and my D not a big deal, I don't feel that I have mastered anything yet. I definately think the night jumps shouldn't have been included in the requirements. I have been on plenty of sunset jumps that end with it being dark on the ground, maybe not pitch black but definately dark. I'm not sure I want to be in the air with people that aren't prepared for this. Just my 2cts.

I'm looking for soft on heading openings, lots of bottom end, if it swoops a little fine but thats not my main goal. I've jumped fx, cobalt and xaos.

I know things like this have been beat to death, but I was looking for a little input. I did a search but didn't find the answers I was looking for. I was wanting a Stilletto 135 and have found a XF134 at a great deal. I was wondering how they compare.

My condolences to the SDC family. -
Go for it. You only live once. By the way don't they have condoms and alcohol at the DZ?

Hey cheer up, the screws in my femur are holding a rod in the middle of the bone. Do what the doc says for awhile. If he says stay off of it, stay off of it. I waited till he gave me permission to push it. I've done 100 jumps since my jackass like landing and it hasn't been a year yet. I hope you heal quickly. They are right about the landings, ever since my accident my idea of a good landing is one I walk away from. I tell everybody that I checked my pride in at the ER.
