  1. This also means that, more than likely, a human is never going to see the document. Your resume text will get load into a database and will get scanned for keywords. If your file gets enough matches then your document will get pulled out. The bottom line is your chance of getting a "hit" in one of these systems is low. If your really interested in the place your submitting to, do some research to see if there is a human that you can send your paperwork to. i.e. hiring manager. There is a great book out there called "what color is your parachute" (no pun intended for this forum). This book really talks about the job search process. I used it and it was very helpful Hope this helps --------------------------------------------- Randy
  2. My first experience wasn't that great at Deland. I'm a RW fun jumper. When I got there I did the waver thing put some money on account and got ready for some fun. Unfortunatly there where alot of teams training and no one really doing any "fun" jumps. Since I was there by myself and didn't really know anyone, I was hoping to get on a LO load. Well there wasn't anyone orginazing so that plan wasn't going to work. My first impression wasn't a good one. The DZ was happy to take some money and they'd put me on a load and thats about it. I'd like to try Deland again but I'd have to bring other people to jump with. Unless things change I wont go back by myself. Since you work there please pass on the feedback. --------------------------------------------- Randy

    Tax cuts

What with tax cuts, and reductions in weapons spending, new approaches are sought to beef up our military might. Sorry if this has been posted already... --------------------------------------------- Randy
  6. The best thing to do is to demo the rig you want to buy from your local dealer. Nothing beats trying it on and jumping it. Your local dealer can also size it for you if you cant demo it. The last thing you can do is to call or e-mail Sunpath. Give them as many of your measurements as possible and they can make a recommendation. I called Sunpath, gave them my measurements and the recommendation they made was right on the money. I dont know if they are that good or if I just got lucky but it worked for me. Remember your rig is a big investment so if you can demo before you buy, do it. The Sunpath customer service people have been very helpful when I delt with them Hope this helps and good luck --------------------------------------------- Randy
  7. Watch it.... --------------------------------------------- Randy
  8. I just made that drive in Janurary (former Perris jumper now in Orlando). If you want to skip New Orleans take I12 it will save you some time. I10 in that state is terrible. See ya --------------------------------------------- Randy
  9. Too exspensive for me... The other question is how are they get that big plane off that short runway? --------------------------------------------- Randy

  11. Right now the tunnel in Orlando is primarily booked by active skydivers. There are sometimes when the general public is in there but its only about 20%. I spoke with the Conatsers when they were in Orlando making the final plans for the tunnel in Perris. They seem to think that the DZ crowd and the people associated with them will be their primary market. With their location the tourist market will be slim to none. Not like it would be if the tunnel was built in Anaheim (next to Disneyland). With Elisnore so close (less than a hour) it will be interesting to see if the market can support two tunnels. It currently supports two DZs so it will be interesting to watch. The two DZ get into promotion "wars" at times so that competition could be good for everyone. If not we'll have to see which DZ has the deeper pockets and can win out in the long run. Good for people in Florida however. This will take some load off the tunnel here. 12. If we are counting on Microsoft for our nations security we are all doomed. --------------------------------------------- Randy
  13. But you had fun didn't you.....I did and I hope they do that more often. --------------------------------------------- Randy
  14. TK, The Conatser's at Perris have benches in all of their aircraft. I'm sure they would be happy to help. I can ask if would like. They have some nice features. The bench on the starboard side lifts and locks in two places, about the last 3-4 feet along with the entire bench on that side for bigway exits. That would be great if you made that modification to your aircraft. Its so much more comfortable going to altitude. BTW, I really enjoyed the 4 way scrambles today. I'll come out anytime you put one of those on. --------------------------------------------- Randy
  15. My first was a AFF jump. This wasn't by choice, well I guess it really was by choice. At the time I was 15 pounds over the limit for tandem. Four years later, here I am. There is one disadvantage if you plan on just doing the one jump. You have so much running through your head when you make the first jump you may not get a chance to just enjoy the experience. When I left the aircraft this thought went through my head. "If you f*&k this up your going to die." About two days after I made the first jump, when I stopped vibrating, I started to think "what did I just do"? So I went back and did the level two jump a couple of weeks later. If you can spend the extra money and time (it take most of the day), go for it. Its a great experience and it gives you the true flavor of what the sport is all about. I'm glad I did it. --------------------------------------------- Randy
  16. I just read that and I'm really upset. Before the TSA I purchased a special case to put my rig in just for travel. Now that the TSA has the authority to open your items without your knowledge what happens to other stuff that looks unusual. I have read some replies to this thread and there are some good ideas. I like the one about having a photo copy of a TSA memo in your bags explaining a policy. I also think that taking rigs on as carry on luggage that you can control is a better factor than letting the uneducated mess with your equipment. We need to contact our representatives and get them fired up about the problem. The USPA needs to take the lead on this. We pay them to represent our interests to government. Get on it USPA! --------------------------------------------- Randy
  17. Thanks Paul. I have always thought that was an issue with mine. I'm glad sunpath has a work around for it. --------------------------------------------- Randy
  18. Yep thats about all he can do. If its a CB'er (Childrens Band), the FCC has pretty much given up on trying to control those guys so the only thing you can do is filter the power. If the offender is really close he may just be overloading everything in the house. Good Luck. Randy (ka6tjh) --------------------------------------------- Randy
  19. I have been jumping with contacts for four years. I jump with a full face right now with zero problems. When I was jumping with goggles I would have my goggles lift on my face during tracking. When the goggles lifted, usualy on one side, my contact would blow off my eye. Sometimes it didn't matter how tight I had the goggles adjusted. --------------------------------------------- Randy
  20. I hate having to have a Nextel and a pager. I never really liked the Nextel. Its got a funky interface. The service inside TD is marginal at best. --------------------------------------------- Randy
  21. Sorry I just have Sprint and Nextel --------------------------------------------- Randy
  22. They havent updated the paper work at Perris since SDU left. The school can help or find a AFF rated LO and they can help as well. If you want to send me a PM I'll give you a name to try as well. --------------------------------------------- Randy
  23. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure that all the other people out here with pets share in your sadness. Hang in there --------------------------------------------- Randy
  24. 35 days after you... crap I didn't realize it was that close. --------------------------------------------- Randy
  25. I did some reasearch a year ago and most of the DZs in that area are Tandem factories. I sent them some e-mail and they would put on a open slot if they had one. Give them a call --------------------------------------------- Randy
